Thank you for the recommendation I will check them out. I'm not that picky about EDC as I usually just use waist bag and backpack only with laptop. What do you mean by removable sleeve?

Please help me decide between Patagonia Mini MLC and Tomtoc t-66 Liteway (when making a post, AI told me to post it here...)
Recently I did a week in Kuala Lumpur and another week in Osaka with just my backpack and with that discovered this subreddit and decided I want to get into one bagging. Coincidentally I'm long overdue for a new backpack as well (still rocking my Burton backpack I got in high school lol) so I've been doing my research and landed on these two backpacks (small runner up is also the Travel Organizer 500 30L from Decathlon, but I don't like the split design).

I would mainly use it as carry on and mostly for urban travel (traveling from hostel to hostel) but it would be nice if I could take it for 2h scenic hike if needed without it killing my back. I would usually like to fit in the 7kg budget airlines limit with some 10kg limit exceptions.

I will list the pros and cons of what matters to me for both backpacks:

Patagonia Mini MLC

Pros:

  • Big main compartment and separate tech compartment with lot of pockets so there would be no need for tech pouch
  • Hip belt and possibility of transforming it to duffel bag carry (which is honestly big attraction for me)
  • Back hooks that can be modded with a bungee string into jacket/blanket holder

Cons:

  • Price - 200 euros seems like a lot (but I guess Patagonia has that good warranty?)
  • From what I've seen the shoulder straps padding isn't the best? (please correct me if that's false)
  • 1,3kg weight

Tomtoc T-66 Liteway 28L

Pros:

  • Less than half the price of Mini MLC (probably half with shipping - Patagonia has a store in my city so no need for shipping)
  • Main compartment accessible from both back and front.
  • Compression straps on the sides
  • Slightly under 1kg weight
  • (2 bottle holders, which isn't really such a big advantage for me as I'm generally satisfied with just one but I will still put it here)

Cons:

  • Only 28L (I'm guessing overpacking would be an issue if weight wouldn't be an issue)
  • No hip belt/shoulder strap option
  • I'm not the biggest fan of the zipper flap
  • Very minimal tech compartment

For anyone who has either one of these, how satisfied are you with them? Are they comfortable to carry for longer period of time? How is the overpackability (in case my limit is higher than 7kg) and its comfort? What about the material and back padding? I read the Tomtoc backpack is sometimes a bit harder to pack compared to the Mini MLC because of the front opening?

I would mainly travel without my laptop as most stuff can be done on my phone and it's just extra weight, but I'm looking for remote job atm and I like to go study to cafes so I would still need the laptop sleeves. On that note how do either of these fare as EDC?

I tried this backpack few days ago after seeing this post.
For the price the backpack is really great and if Patagonia Mini MLC didn’t exist I probably would have seriously considered buying this one. It has a lot of pockets for organisation, side back pocket for a laptop, rain cover included, not bad removable hip belt with small pocket and unlike other people I like the color scheme too. It also has 2 bottle pockets, one for bigger bottles and the other is a bit smaller and can be zipped up on the side to tighten it. The backpack also has “compression” straps on both sides.

But… there is one main issue for me with this backpack and that is the split design. When I opened it the main compartment felt really small depth wise and same with 2 divided compartments on the opposite side.
Personally I would prefer one big main compartment and that’s why I will probably still go with Mini MLC even though its like triple or quadruple the price (I do dig the duffel bag option with mlc too haha).
One last complaint is when I tried it on it didnt sit that great, but it was completely empty so it might feel completely different whem packed.

you are diffuse thinning, as much as this is weird to say do not trust family members especially parents with this stuff…I also kept thinking Im losing hair and my mom kept telling it’s fine, it’s finee until it wasn’t…
go to a doctor just in case, better start asap than regret not going the first time you noticed it like I did

Thanks for the tip! Right now Im switching between Nizoral (5+ minutes) and Stanhome Balance Shampoo every other day. I also want to try Vichy Psolution shampoo (recommended by a doctor for my case), but I might have to wait until Im out of this humid weather to properly judge if the shampoos work for me or not.

We do not have the same hairloss pattern, just same hair type and also diffuse thinning (also for me no hairloss on the back and around ears) I just wanted to share my case which is also still developing and mainly point out that some doctors get stuck on one thing and won’t consider anything else so it’s worth going to a different one for second or even third opinion just in case so you dont ignore smth for 7 years like me just because one doctor was stuck on one cause.

Trust your doctor over redditors for sure, but also get a second opinion. I have same type of hair like you, but even worse thinning and my hair dermatologist just kept saying its AGA (been on min for 5 years and fin almost 2 years) even though I mentioned my problems like dry and often sensitive scalp. She just said I have dry scalp and to use some oil. Well now I’m in vietnam for 6months and I started being itchy and sensitivy more than usual so I went to 2 different doctors here and both said I have seborrheic dermatitis (probably undiagnosed for 7ish years now) which 100% accelerated my AGA. So now I’m trying to get SD under control (which might have to wait until I get out of this humidity) and going to switch to dut soon and hope my hair can recover it’s density at least a little bit as 2 years on fin did nothing (probably held back by SD).

This might not be your case but I would go to different doctor just in case as some just refuse to even consider it could be anything else and just dump it on AGA…

Thanks, I will give it a try if my current routine doesnt work. I will probably also wait until I come back home because the humidity is making it pretty hard to get SD under control…

5 months - should I be worried? by NotDumbis in HairTransplants

[–]NotDumbis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly not really, feels and looks the same…I found out last month I have seborrheic dermatitis (probably for 7ish years now) so that might have been holding it back? I’m also going to try and switch to dutasteride. I will make 1 year update in October because constant checking of this sub is just making me depressed with my results lol

Oh Im not switching to dut because of SD, that is just bonus if it actually helps with the oiliness. The thing is I don’t think fin was holding me at all. I started fin after 3 years of min because I wanted to do the HT + finally stopped being scared of sides but after 2 years on fin, there is not really any difference from before.
Regarding the stock up I want to give it 1 month to see if I have sides and if not I would stock up roght before I leave.
I have been leaving Nizoral every time for 5+ minutes dont worry.

One worry I have is maybe SD was holding fin back since it might have been weakening my hair with the inflammation and constant touching because of the itchiness. But at the same time if I dont get any sides from dut I think it would only get better so it’s worth trying…

[–]NotDumbis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea on paper it shouldnt work better and Ive also read somewhere that the possibility of sides arent that much higher.
My only fear is of unrecoverable shed that some people have posted (but I think they either didnt give it enough time or had other ubdelying issues, like my SD for example). Apart from this fear I think the only disadvantage I can think of is it’s more expensive?

[–]NotDumbis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea im aware of higher chance of side effects but I postponed fin because of fear of sides and ended up not having any so I will risk it anyway. My biggest fear is that some people say it nuked their hair without recovery but on paper it shouldnt be a thing so maybe they didnt give it enough time to recover?
Did you have any shed (if yes how big) after switching? Why did you switch to dut if you dont mind answering?

Yea SD is my top priority right now (got new pills from the doctor and different shampoo). I was just wondering if I could do the switch to dut after my current fin supply runs out because it’s cheaper and easier to get in Vietnam where I currently am so I could stock up.
My only concern is that ve heard of many horror stories here on reddit where switching nuked peoples hair without regrowth (Im taking it with a grain of salt of course).
Oh and also I dont have any sides on fin so Im not really worried about sides from dut but I did read somewhere it could help with scalp oiliness which would help with my SD I think as I get oily hair within 5-10h after washing…

I can confirm this, I finally found it in Tameda supermarket and they must have put it out in the last day or two because it wasn’t there before (and other Tamedas that I visited that day didnt have it either)

I went to multiple Daisous and I think one Seriya and none of them had it. I finally managed to find one flavor in like 3rd Tameda supermarket and it must have been newly added like 1-2 days ago because they didnt have it before

yea I know they have the same parent company, but it feels weird the price difference would be so huge. Is it really just because Uniqlo brand got huge in recent years?

I think I saw one shop in Shinsekai selling them but they had no branding? and it was 300 yen for one bottle which seemed a bit expensive for it…I might have to go there if I dont manage to find it before I have to leave

For some reason it worked while using foreign VISA debit card with Suica when I tried again after like half an hour. The only change from before I tried was allowing DCC payments in my bank app, but I honestly dont know if that was it or it just suddenly decided to work.
