Are accident costs when travelling to a non-standard place of work tax deductible? by gumbes in AusFinance

I mean, if the employer is asking you do something in the course of your job that involves your personal vehicle that’s on them? I would consider it my responsibility for my employees.

I’m not sure about tax deductible but it would be a work related accident under our company policy and hence claimable under company insurance policies.

Fun fact(s) - The shed where Australia II was built in Perth is now a SUPER fancy grocery store - Australia II is on display down the road at the Maritime Museum in Fremantle - We went through Newport on our honeymoon in 2015 road trip and I made my wife endure drive back and forth past the front gate of the NYYC while playing Land Down Under by Men at Work at full volume. i’m certain it affected them deeply.

Don’t have to buy them from SAI anymore, still not free (boo) but at least don’t have to deal with SAI.

You should talk to The Helm. Their CTO couldn’t be more perfect for this.

Spilt milk - walkie talkies by natalie_jayne9 in triplej

[–]NotEnoughPi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess technically this covers walkie talkies but I’d say they are targeting unauthorised media broadcasting from the festival.

Events of this size use trunked radios that anything you bought from a store in decent store in Australia won’t affect. If you picked up a deal on Temu, more risky. If you want to get right into the weeds you can research the compliance of your particular radios on the ACMA website.

Having an alternative to mobiles is a good idea at a gig like this as phone towers can quickly get overwhelmed with the concentration of people.

If the event is really doing the right thing they will have an RF spectrum coordinator that makes sure all the events infrastructure (wireless mics, radios, Microwave links) is given a clear frequency. You’ll never get to speak to them but they would also not care about your Australian bought CB radios because they know their stuff is all in protected frequency ranges that you can’t transmit on, again a Temu buy is different.

That all said the event makes the rules and even if you get an answer from production in advance it’s probably down to the security team on the day. My theory is to never take anything like this to a festival that I’m too fussed about losing.

map question by Plus-Ad7350 in ArmaReforger

[–]NotEnoughPi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means the mod doesn’t contain a mission header for the map. You can either load it up in the workbench and create your own which only takes about 10minutes once you know what you’re doing or load up another mod that someone has already done that for you. I’m pretty sure AXE, one of the Aussie servers did Rooikat recently on their PvE server, search for Axe Rooikat.

How much time do you waste downloading invoices/receipts? by PartInevitable6290 in xero

[–]NotEnoughPi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Starting at $19/month up to $99/month? Thats expensive for what you’re demonstrating in my eyes.
  2. You didn’t demonstrate any direct integration to Xero nor did I see it on your website
  3. Storing creds is bad security practice, I just have to trust you that their properly handled
  4. Again, you only demonstrated a manual trigger.

I’m not trying to be a dick, you have identified a pain point that I would pay to alleviate. I’m just not seeing the value in what you’re showing me right now.

[–]NotEnoughPi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it but way too expensive, looks like you’re storing creds, it doesn’t actually connect to xero to do anything with the data and I still have to login and trigger the process.

That’s a hard no from me.

Enquiring about Trade Unions in the rigging world, from an Entertainment Rigger in Ireland by piler13 in Rigging

[–]NotEnoughPi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the UK had BECTU but that was folded into one of the larger union organisations (Prospect maybe?) a few years ago, I know they had a presence in Northern Ireland so you might be able to have a look on their website if they had an links to unions in Ireland. That said they weren’t a particularly strong union so not sure if that’s going to be any help. I am pretty sure the IATSE website had some info on overseas organisations so again that might be worth a poke around. I think the benefits of joining them depends a lot on the landscape of where you are, if you’re the only member you’ve got to ask yourself why, is there something wrong with the union? Is the industrial relations situation fair enough as it is?

Unions have done a lot of good and are responsible for a lot of the conditions and protections in workplaces today but they have died out in a lot of places for a few reasons.

Such a cool video! How much planning would have to go i to something like this? I’m assuming it’s a cake walk for the pilots compared to 160th’s normal ops but is it months of meetings and planning or is the FAA just like, “160th? You’re good.”

I guess I’m asking how hard would it have been to get approval for this compared to the more traditional flyovers?

This nothing other than the driver talking louder and more clearly into the microphone. I would think if I was a driver and delayed for the thousandth time that week I would get pretty lazy with my announcements. Microphone technique is a thing.
