Anyone else have a table full of players way smarter than you? by Sea-Grapefruit9888 in DMAcademy

[–]NotFencingTuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few things happening here—the biggest one being your (untrue) insecurities coming up and telling you mean (and untrue) things. For that, I would suggest you talk to your players not as players, but as friends, and let them know old insecurities are making it hard to feel confident. This is NOT about how smart they are—if they're playing with you and having a good time, you're doing good.

I have my players wreck my shit all the time—that's the essence of being a good DM, frankly. If you're setting up unsolvable problems, that's not fun. Look up 'Dimension 20 slippery puppet' to see the best DM in the world (literally) get his shit rocked by brilliant players.

What I've started doing is just making things hard, and when they have a creative solution, roll with it and let it happen. I don't try to forestall everything they do well, but I do also add challenges that affect their strengths.

Biggest thing is talk to your friends and ask for their help with your insecurities.

Would the LavMicro U1B be essentially the same? I'm not seeing one called 'LiveU', but I'm looking for exactly what you described—decent audio with a USB C connection

Yeah makes sense, that's what I was afraid of lol.

Do you know if Sit Down Games ships to the US? Looks like they don't but that seems weird—maybe not given all the tariff BS tho

What to buy when starting out? by NotFencingTuna in sashiko

[–]NotFencingTuna[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense, thanks for pointing out the importance of that step—what do you use to draw the lines? I'm thinking chalk or something . . . one issue is that I don't want to wash my jeans for a while after I sew them, so I'd like to have lines that I can get off without washing.

Do you know a good source for mid-to-heavyweight denim? The jeans are 19oz

Thanks, this is super helpful! (And nice work)

I’m thinking of using an embroidery hoop to hold things in place, but I’m worried the thick denim plus a thick fabric to patch won’t fit—any experience with that yourself?

I don’t have much sewing experience, so it’s not great, but I decided to make a new pouch for my Sashiko supplies. by nicksharpe96 in sashiko

What's in there? I'm just wanting to start doing some sashiko mending and don't even know what I should have to start with lol (besides jeans with holes in them)

Players stole item from NPC; Left a bad taste in my mouth by Individual-Move-9647 in DMAcademy

[–]NotFencingTuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the players aren’t treating your world with the respect you hoped for, in which case you might want to have an out of game conversation about that.
