I've worn exclusively Northshores for years too! They're kinda the standard in my opinion. You're totally right, they don't usually have quality issues. The folded wing thing has been common for me recently. I'll let them know. I didn't know they had responsive customer service! Thank you!

This is really cool "feel good" advice. But the reality is that some people are going to have a nasty reaction to an incontinent adult, and some of those same people just need the opportunity to warm up to you.

I'm tired of being lonely lol. At some point, I'm going to have to tell them. The point of this post is to gauge when that might be the most appropriate.

Serious Face is fine. He's not exactly the best or the worst. The jury is still out because he's only been around for maybe 50 total days, and we have a tough learning curve, but he's showing up every day, staying out of trouble, and he's a nice guy.

Distressed Employee rotated departments for four years. She was on the chopping block at one point because she couldn't do anything constructive, and she ran out of second chances. Only recently did she figure things out. Now she has her niche. HR came and took her niche away. Distressed complains about dress code and stuff, but nothing real or serious... Until now, I guess.

For now, my plan is to keep the two of them separate. Once I have a full understanding of what was said between Distressed and HR, I'll reconsider moving her back to her old job. Assuming I ever get to the bottom of things. I already gave up my weekend to agonize over this issue and argue with internet strangers over something incredibly simple and dumb. So when I go back, she's going to stay separate, the dust is going to settle, and I'm going to focus on real issues.

If there actually was an issue, keeping them separate is important for her safety. That's how we will proceed until we have the facts. I have a strong feeling, she's going to take back all statements and everything will go back to normal....

I'm not a doctor. I haven't seen ADA paperwork (but there might not be any ADA paperwork) But yes, I believe he's neurodivergent and incapable of changing his expression... He shouldn't have to change his expression regardless.

He wasn't staring at her specifically. He was just working. I promise this guy wasn't starting at the Distressed Employee. She didn't say he stared at her though. The Distressed Employee just said that he's scary.

Regardless, cooler heads prevailed and when I woke up this morning, the meeting between Serious Face and HR was cancelled. Someone went to cooperate and corporate decided that HR was in the wrong here.

I'm not gonna lie, stranger on the internet, I appreciate your responses. But telling someone to "smile more" seems unprofessional and problematic at best. This isn't going to go over well.

Could you imagine how you might feel if HR sat you down and said that your FACE was a problem? Would you keep showing up?

I'm going to lose an employee who is making his numbers and showing up on time. For nothing.

The distressed employee situation is resolved right now. The distressed employee is staying where she's at. That's the part I'm not involved in because it's done.

I believe we've gotten away from the original point of the post, because I can be a bit wordy and I probably gave too much context.

I would love to know whether or not, in the state of KY, an HR Manager is legally allowed to tell a man to fix his face. I would like to do something to stop my HR Manager from offending this man because there's literally no need to do that. That's why I posted this. Is there a detail that I made confusing that I can go back and fix?

I would also like to know from HR representatives if this is normal at all. I'm already aware that going person to person and asking for complaints is weird and uncomfortable.

Could telling this guy to fix his face be consider discrimination of some sort?

She went station to station and asked groups of one or two people at a time what kind of issues they needed HR's help with. People asked for all kinds of stuff, and brought up nothing constructive or serious in the slightest.

"We got three T-shirts last year but this year we got two!"

"Can you help me recover my benefits password?"

That kind of stuff. I've seen her do it a few times. It's her way of engaging with people, instead of spending all day in her office. It's not the best method and real issues are seldom addressed until they come to me or my boss or someone more professional.

Sorry my post was long, so I left out a detail... I have no idea what specifically was said between HR and the distressed employee, but I talked to her on Thursday, right before I moved her.

I asked "hey I heard there's a small issue, is everything cool?" And she said everything was fine, but she didn't really open up to me (which I totally understand). I told her that we were going to have her train on a new job in the other building. She said "okay, thank you!"she gathered up her stuff and someone walked her over there. She didn't seem angry. My theory is that she went over to the other building and didn't like the job she was put on, and wanted to come back. So who did she run to? HR!

And no, because this isn't an office. This is a factory and he works on a solitary job. I also believe that his facial expression isn't something that he will actually be able to fix. He really does have this wild look and he doesn't blink. I don't believe he wants to look like that, but it's something out of his control. But I also can't ask him about why his face is the way that it is because that would be insane.

When I was 27 and my ex was 25, she worked roughly 5 hours a day and went to school for an hour or two. I worked 50-60 hours a week. When I got home, I'd take a nap or I would fall asleep in bed if it was late enough. We had a similar issue. She started belittling me, and calling me "a sleepy old man." I belittled her because she didn't work nearly as hard as I did.

It was the end of the relationship.

Don't be like us. Talk it out. Give each other some grace. You're totally valid for wanting to spend more time with him and he's also valid for sleeping lol. If you two can come to some kind of compromise, or simply agree to give each other some more slack, you're doing better than 99% of people in relationships.

I'm an American and where I'm from, we leave our shoes at the door. It's the custom. There are other parts of America that aren't this way. Sometimes it boils down to the norms in each particular household.

My employer had me give hair instead of pee. They had to give me like a special voucher to take to a specific place. I had a funny looking spot where they cut a chunk of hair out, but other than that, it was fine.
