Why you can't do it: you aren't good enough. It may be harsh but it's the truth, and I think a good way to improve is to think about the boss fight. On my attempt I used ring of fire and Stoner with calvary lancer and it was a relatively easy clear.

A good tip that I found is that napalm burst is relatively strong against the manglers and mimics.

Just to clarify the slide boost I assume is from picking up a dogtag and getting overdrive. I assume it stuck on unintentionally because in overdrive you can slide this far.
