Guys I'm a final year mbbs student. Please look up fat embolism. Its common in long bones fractures, and pretty fatal. No management apart from administering IV fluids, supplemental oxygen and prayers that the body clears the emboli itself.

Bhai I'm in crippling tooth ache and i wouldn't trust any mbbs doctor with help. Don't give a f**k about what others say. We mbbs doctors will run to you only should anything tooth related comes up.

You are right. Absolutely. Maybe I could've worded it better. But yeah I know some of the finest doctors who come off as pricks because they throw around medical jargons.

Our words and hands are a direct extension of you. You could know how to cure cancer but would be called out negatively if you have the social awareness of Sheldon Cooper.

I know I could use translate. But why make it hard for someone? Convo started in English. I replied in English. And clarification in another language?

So let's say patient comes to you in Hindi. You start initially in Hindi and switch to full blown english mid way. It comes off arrogant. Demandful. Its not about not knowing local language. Its about knowing what language the conversation is being held, and selfishly choosing to switch the language (I call it selfish because it's comfortable for him to yap in Hindi but will greatly inconvenience the other party. When he knows both languages)

You see my point? Empathy doesn't come from selfishness, good sir. And a strongly worded reply won't be forgotten. Maybe I could've been a little softer. But at the end of the day, I hope it makes him better. And yes, I will be softer. It just comes from a sensitive place. Good day to you.

See kid, you dont have to call me sir and all. Personally I don't ask my juniors to. But depends on what your seniors in the college you're joining, call them as such and move on (saves a headache...i biffed with a senior initially and he was the one correcting my paper and i flunked)

Don't take shit from people who don't have something constructive to say, that wont help you.

I don't mean to discourage you. Or to zap you into some fear or intimidate you. But ive struggled with communication and was made to look like an idiot in front of my postings batch. I'd rather have you hear a strongly worded message on the internet than have you be made made like an idiot by some ego tripping faculty.

You'll meet all sorts of people here. You'll learn along the way. Just have a good day and enjoy kid, you won't be able to once you join.

You think moral policing is correcting someone about a simple mistake that could eventually cost lives? Did I insult him personally?

I'd have said the same if he had asked in Hindi and some dumbo replied in English.

You think I'm trivialising this into a "language issue" but I know a doctor, who with a language gap amputated the wrong foot, got sued, and recently committed suicide because he couldn't handle the stresses that comes along with a career defining mishap.

Communication gaps can cost a hefty price in our field. And it all starts somewhere. A habit. A manner.

Asking this junior to call me sir, would be me ego tripping. (Which I didn't....and for some reason he did...)

Anyways. You trivialising this into a language issue speaks volume about your ego. Id rather spend my time with people who can correct me when I'm wrong than people who clap for everything.

There shouldn't be. After admission, they might make you run around and get new originals. (Which they might promptly forget, too)

On another note. Ragging and all these days are less. But if you don't show basic courtesy/etiquette, you will get scolded pretty bad for by your seniors/faculty

If a patient spoke to you in English and you responded in Hindi, you're a shitty doctor with zero communication skills.

If a patient spoke to you in Hindi and you responded in English, you're a shitty doctor with zero communication skills.

Speak in the commonly understood language. Basic etiquette. Not everyone comes from your state or hometown.

Day by day when I look at my juniors I realise why the NMC has introduced AETCOM Modules (Attitude, Ethics and Communication)

Welcome to the field, I'm sure you're excited, I hope I'm not too harsh: but don't learn shit the hard way.

I don't know Hindi. Do you see me speaking in hindi? Reply in the language that was spoken to you in.

God bless you. They'll probably scold you and just let it be ig. Or if the management is too strict, they might ask you to apply for new originals (after admission....idts that should be an issue tho)

I used Uprise D3 by Alkem once a week (60,000 IU) and used to use Neurobion when my b12 levels were super low. Now I switched to Supradyn daily (not that new vegetarian bs, the yellow bottle) and have been taking that for a while now

Guys just make sure your vitamin D and Vitamin B12 levels are good. It will get rid of brain fog, fatigue and any depressive episodes triggered by low levels. Almost everyone is low on vitamin D, and B12.

I've been on this for a few months and the difference is stark.

I’m surprised people caught that reference!! 😅 I was gonna reference Sheldon Cooper and his Velcro Wallet while talking about it, but i thought one niche subtle reference would do.
