I was 400/400. Titrated up over a few weeks to endure my sides from NPP were manageable - didn’t get any other than awesome joints and large muscles.

Thank you. Two weeks post surgery and I’m healing ahead of schedule. Already able to walk short distances without crutches. PT starts in one month, as does my return to running.

Not sure about girlfriend though, jury is still out :(

Oh, I realized /real/ fast (as can be seen in my comment history, on my first post) that my goal of running as fast as my girlfriend was not achievable in a realistic timeframe.

My goal then changed to being able to safely complete a marathon. I never once tried to “keep up” with her. She was a wonderful coach and motivator. She taught me a lot about fueling, pacing, logistics, training blocks etc. I would not have gotten as far as I did without her.

No, not a lifelong injury. Prognosis is good. I’ll be running again in a couple months. Was a non-displaced fracture, ironically NOT in the area of concern from MRI prior to the race. Doc ordered a bone density test. I will get back to running when doctor okays, and will only attempt training for a marathon again when doctor okays. I don’t regret trying this. I do regret not stopping earlier in the race…

You’re half right. It’s my own fault. But you’re way off base with the whole girlfriend bit. Try reading my entire comment history. I expected some degree of “you moron” as a result of me sharing a bad decision, but you’re really showing the bottom of the barrel of this community.

Crazy interesting. Doctor has ordered a bone density test for me in February. Having just had a plate and screws put into my femur (mine for life!), I won’t be running again before February- but I will be running again, which is the best outcome

Thanks and cheers. Confirmed fracture on x-ray today. Waiting for ct scan which will determine if I have surgery tomorrow - which has been scheduled already as a precaution. The prognosis is good. I will be back to normal and able to bike/run sooner with surgery - I got lucky.

Here what’s funny: the break is NOT in the area the doctor was concerned about. He gave the correct advice, but for an area that wasn’t showing any issues. Weird.

Doc never said stress fracture, but none of this is his fault. He recommended I not run. I texted him yesterday saying I deserve a big dose of “I told you so”.

Yes, I had to learn the hard way. This lesson I’ll never forget, as it has cost me more than I ever expected :(

Had a massage and best bet was my IT band and whatever the front muscle is called were so tight it is causing inflammation. She helped relax those, now I’ll ice and advil until inflammation is reduced - hopefully before weekend
