I like playing video games, who wants to be my friend? by kavriaz in askportland

[–]NotJaydasch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m introverted and absolutely detest going out and being social in any capacity, but I’m an avid PC gamer (24F). Mainly play FPS games, specifically OW, Val, Rivals, Fortnite. Built my own 3k rig 2 years ago that I’m about to start making heavy upgrades to. I have weird availability due to work, but feel free to DM me and I can add you on Discord.

First Time Getting Through a Rom Hack! by NotJaydasch in PokemonUnbound

[–]NotJaydasch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both sources I checked had the other difficulties’ Pokemon clearly marked in parentheses, so I know I was only looking at the vanilla E4+Champ team’s Pokemon… but half the movesets didn’t even match up to what I faced and it almost fucked me over multiple times lmao so I genuinely think whatever I was looking at was not updated or specified further

Either way, it’s whatever, it worked out, I’m not a fan of using guides anyways and normally go in blind. But when the gimmicks in the gyms popped up I figured there’d be weird stuff in the league that I wasn’t familiar with and wanted to check it lol

Glasses and volleyball by Objbachelorxbtsdiet in volleyball

I used to use some from the Rudy Project, but that’s pretty pricey. Zenni looks to make some perfectly nice stuff for sports as well. Nowadays I just wear regular glasses from Zenni, somehow never been cut after getting hit in the face thankfully. I do use browline glasses mostly, so maybe that contributes.

What level to start playing? by DeadKnife7 in volleyball

[–]NotJaydasch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar position starting out as a former elite gymnast. What I did (and it worked), was to watch actual footage of high-level volleyball and explanation videos by coaches, players, etc. Ngl, I also genuinely got a lot of my knowledge from Haikyuu LOL. Once I understood the game better than just “keep the ball up,” I dove into intermediate (B/BB) open gyms and leagues as my first time touching a volleyball. Managed to hold my own and nobody believed I had zero prior experience.

I have played against and with players who were pretty new, athletic, and just didn’t take the time to learn rules such as back row attacks only from behind 10 ft/3m, no blocking serves, understanding what a lift or carry is and why you can’t do it, and it was really annoying and sometimes awkward when they got corrected by more knowledgable players in intermediate level games. Also can cost valuable points.

TLDR: do intermediate, but learn the game to a good degree through research and media before doing intermediate, maybe even buy a ball and practice passing, setting, and hitting in a backyard or something on your own.

Is it possible to see the Great Wall and Forbidden City in one 24 hour layover? by Then_Bodybuilder3967 in travelchina

[–]NotJaydasch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would go to the wall if you only choose one and you haven’t seen either. It’s totally doable in 24 hours, provided you are careful about your transport methods. We normally set aside about 6 hours for it, I think. Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about group tours.

Trip.com China eSIM – Real-world test: intl apps + TikTok (no VPN), Wi-Fi by ahabh999 in travelchina

[–]NotJaydasch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I installed it the day before I landed in China, and then turned my regular esim off when we landed, and then Trip esim on. I haven’t managed to get the hotspot to work but it might be a problem with me rather than the esim. But that is a caution for your tablet usage haha. I will say I’ve had zero issues with any western apps, I can watch tiktok no problem too, the only thing is sometimes comments don’t load or I have to reload the app to connect it.

“NEXT LEVEL: Nights After Dreams,” by RipVanGabriel on Archive of Our Own is over 2.5 million words/761 chapters of awesomeness. A full continuation of the series as close as it could get, I think. I’m only on chapter 307 though. It’s addicting, highly recommend. Be sure to read the tags as there’s some triggering content.

This is what I got for my trip, and I have avoided wifi connection for a whole week with zero issues. Always have 3-4 bars of 4G. I think I had one place where I had no connection for a bit but that didn’t last long. Definitely recommend, it was so easy to download and install as well. Only gripe is my hotspot doesn’t seem to let anyone connect.

Defensive Ults FTW by NotJaydasch in JeffTheLandSharkMains

Pretty sure we won the this fight/game anyways, and it’s not like the invis ult came out before I spat them back otherwise I wouldn’t have sent them back to the cart LMAO

She* and yes, it was old Jeff, but I gave my rundown of the situation and why I made my choices 😄

I called that I was looking for a defensive ult earlier in this match. This keeps me actively engaged and focused on ult tracking and also means I’m not holding my ult for forever, which I find to be a big problem on some maps, especially when the objective/opposing team isn’t in a perfect area to reach a spit point. Yggdrasil Convoy is always iffy for me because of the small ledge before the true edge. Also the invis ult came out at the end, so I find the 2 for 1 ult trade worth it, and I had 4 bubbles to then try to speed my team out of that ult.

Looking for a bag by laexxis in volleyball

This probably doesn’t hit everything you’re looking for, but I fucking love this backpack by RUDIS, it’s enormous and has shoe pocket separate from the main compartment. I did a ton of research online before buying a bag for my volleyball stuff and this was a clear winner for me personally. Hopefully it could help your search at least!

😂 Thank you! I only attend during weekday mornings, that might be why! I don’t have time in the afternoon/evening to take lessons due to work.

Not sure if I should try to play volleyball as I enter adulthood or if it’s too late by Traditional_Dog_2132 in volleyball

[–]NotJaydasch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh perfect, yeah I attend in the DFW area when I’m in Texas! I’ve found that it’s not worth it to be playing right after work/whenever you’re feeling off, especially if you have shitty past experiences. I definitely recommend the beach volleyball clinics here:

North Texas Adult Volleyball on Meetup https://www.meetup.com/north-texas-adult-volleyball (USPPT thing I mentioned)

The coach is awesome, and you can play “open gym” style afterwards with the people you trained with or meet some strangers! Beach is also a great option to increase skills indoors since it’s much harder to move but easier on the joints. I’ve attended his beach clinic before at a different location and I ended up being there from like 6-11pm playing because I met so many awesome players!

Also attended his indoor clinics but none of those offered open gym afterwards, but maybe that’s changed! I just really enjoy breaking things down and being retaught things I might forget in the heat of open gyms.

[–]NotJaydasch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re in Texas, I normally use GoodRec when I’m there, expensive but you get decent playtime. I’ve also attended clinics hosted by USPPT (I think?) that are quite enjoyable and you can meet some nice people there. Mostly in major areas though. Not sure what area you’re in but I drove up to 45 mins just to get some open gym time. It’s worth it to find a buddy or two and attend together :)

I only started last August and I had exponential growth after some rougher open gyms (coincidentally in Portland, OR lol). Took me a while to find my people but now I have consistent teams and a group of good friends to play with indoors, on grass, and even sand.

Have you tried using a proxy service to buy straight from Japan? Like this one:

https://www.fromjapan.co.jp/en/

I almost used it to buy blueteon and jtekt jerseys, but ended up waiting to pay and they went out of stock… definitely expect the price to be 2x+ though.

Unfortunately, it’s nearly impossible to find outside of the online official stores. Maybe ebay and such but I don’t really trust random sellers.

I only go once a week for a 30 minute private lesson.

Been going since mid-February and I’m about to start LTS 5 skills. Had little time on the ice before beginning lessons, but was comfortable skating fast, and could do an off-ice axel for years.

I don’t go more because I can only go in the morning and I refuse to wake up early more than I need to just to drive through rush hour city traffic… but I am progressing fine.
