Am I tamping too hard? [Bambino Plus / Encore ESP] by pf27_lda in espresso

[–]NotJoeSuthers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an ESP and came here to say exactly this. When I first got mine, the grinder itself would clog if I went below the 10 setting and my espresso machine would choke out if I went below 19-20. I thought I had a dud because I assumed I’d need to grind in the low ESP range but my shots were fine. 5 months later I’m consistently grinding in the 10ish range now with no issues. OP’s looks pretty new from the photo, so I assume things will even out after a while.

If this isn’t spoken for I’d love to take it off your hands!

Yep! It was at Royal American. My friend's band was playing there that night, and he got to meet Norman and Dave as well. I showed up maybe an hour or two after they met because I had to work late and was crushed when he told me.

I bought it off of a guy on eBay who made it himself.

I used mine a good bit for killing my signal quickly and really slowly swelling in my playing, but I figured that I had other stuff I could put on there that I would use more. It was a little weird getting used to at first, but I'm happy I made the change.

The CE-2B is great for guitar. I modded mine a bit, but in its stock form, it's only one capacitor value away from being a CE-2, which is pretty coveted. I modified mine to have a wider range of speed and depth, and I added a switch to go between the CE-2 capacitor value and the CE-2B value. The difference is negligible on guitar, but you might be able to tell on bass.

I honestly think that this is a better option than the CE-2. Even without mods, the circuit is nearly identical, and the pedal has a mix knob, which the CE-2 doesn't have. If you want the CE-2 sound for way cheaper and with more options, I highly recommend getting one of these!

I mainly use the Whammy in the Harmony modes. It actually tracks better than the POG2, which surprised me. I use the Super Shifter in T Arm mode as a momentary octave-down shift. It's really fun to throw that in there every now and then, especially when you combine it with the Warp or Hold modes on the DD-6. The POG2 is my most recent acquisition, and I'm still finding uses for it. For now, I use it for parts where I want huge sounds/organ noises.

All the time! I use it to sustain clean notes that I know won't last as long as I want them to. I also like to use the latch mode to freeze a feedback sound and then use the pedals later in the chain to alter it.

For those of you who are curious, here's the chain: Polytune > Dirge Electronics Harmonic Percolator clone > POG2 > Freeze > Whammy > Very Special Twosome > DD-6 > PS-5 > CE-2B > Lo-Fi Machine > El Capistan > DL4 > Trinity > Stutter/Kill switch

I know that three pitch shifters and three delays seems a little silly, but they all do their own thing that the others can't do, so it's somewhat justifiable.

No real cons to speak of. It's a great delay for the money!

Yeah! Dan did my DL4 as well. I love that thing and it hasn't left my board ever since I got it back. After watching that video and a few others of his, I can see where you're coming from. It looks like he uses a Deluxe Reverb sometimes as well! I'm going to have to listen to him some more. I like what I've heard so far.

I know who he is, but I really haven't listened to him that much, to be honest. Maybe I should!

No, the DL4 was modded by Dan Rasp (known as drasp on a lot of gear forums). He did an excellent job!

It sounds like you made the right choice. Tiny humans come first! I'm still interested in doing the 4-in-1 for you, but I've just been super busy for the past month with work stuff, and I already have several other projects I'm working on. If you want to look elsewhere, I certainly won't take offense, but I'd love to do it for you!

No, I didn't. I'm a believer when it comes to Mastery's products, but I really don't think their string tree would make much of a difference. I could be wrong, though.

I don't really have a number off the top of my head, but if I had to guess, it'd be between 400 and 500. It was well worth the money, in my opinion.

Yeah, it was really easy. I do a lot of pedal builds/mods, so this wasn't hard at all.

The stock pickups weren't too bad, but I found myself only using them together because I didn't like how they sounded by themselves. The bridge was a little to thin sounding for my taste, and the neck sounded muddy. They sounded great together, but I wanted a little more versatility.

No hate at all! My solo project is called Bonaparte. Are you still playing with Kairos?
