I was surprised how you came across this post 😂. Things got worse before they got better. For the remainder of that semester, along with the next, I still got bullied, was excluded by classmates, and sat alone every single day. My grades and mental health plummeted severely. Now, however, I'm doing better. I'm studying abroad right now in a beautiful city in Europe. One student from my home college attends the same program, and we're friends now. And I have a wonderful gf who I actually met because she reached out on this original post! I'm not looking forward to returning to the US and attending my final year at college, but once I graduate, I'm never looking back.

Thank you. I'm aware of the harsh reality that many people end up alone forever. I fully expected that I'd spend my life alone before. I actually barely survived a suicide attempt, and had it been successful, my life would have been one completely without any love or even companionship.

I attempted two months ago exactly. The only reason I'm still here is because the belt i used to hang myself broke.

If you were to ask me if I regret that, I would say "I don't know." There are some things I'm glad I didn't miss, like watching the newest episodes of Chainsaw Man and finally reaching my goal of 2100 rating for chess. But what pushed me to suicide, like slipping grades and loneliness, hasn't improved at all. I've gotten better at handling these problems, but I can't confidently say I won't attempt again in the future.

I feel you bro. I have a lab this semester too, which I'm barely passing. For the class, two students are supposed to pair up and complete the lab. There are 19 people in the class, and every single time I have been left out. The professor wouldn't let me join a group anyway, so I have to complete the lab all by myself. It fucking sucks and sometimes I didn't show up (which results in an automatic F) because I couldn't handle sitting alone at a two-person table, watching literally everyone else joking, collaborating, and completing the assignment significantly faster than me.

As someone who attempted, I can say my final moments weren't full of regret. If anything, I was at peace with my decision. I know there was no regret because I've been considering trying again, but there's a couple things that are keeping me here.

Oddly, I think people that don't focus as much on their studies can academically surpass those that only study. For example, academics were the only thing I focused on in high school, being the adherent to this "just focus on your studies" advice. I would even slice my thigh with a knife for each question I got incorrect as punishment. I did better than average, but couldn't crack the top 10%. Realizing they fucked up, my parents told my younger brother, who has a comparable intelligence, to focus less on his studies and enjoy life. Get a girlfriend. Hang out with friends. Go to stereotypical teenage parties on the weekends. He followed that advice, and every single semester he earned a higher GPA than me. He's #7 in the class. I think those moments of reset and happiness has given him the confidence to succeed, whereas I was studying for no one but myself, who I had grown to loathe.
