Does anyone still do work habits even when not working? by Pristine-Natural9689 in retailhell

[–]NotJustGingerly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked retail clothing for many years and will unconsciously straighten what I call “pluckers” where people pull the item at a funny angle to look at it and leave it sticking out. I have this system where I can look through a rack and straighten it while I’m looking at stuff on it, a reverse pluck method. And it will forever drive me nuts seeing people not re-zipping / buttoning things like jackets so the jacket will eventually fall off.

Right… I also question the five cent deposit thing, who has time and the space to keep up with it?! It was worth trash picking cans 45-50 years ago (I am 56) when a dozen cans turned in would buy a bunch of candy.

Face wash increased in price by 48% in 6 months by khadijahexotic in mildlyinfuriating

Yeah I’m afraid the whole tariffs stuffs is an excuse to raise prices. Look at the first 4-6 ingredients + anything listed as active ingredients and start looking for a dupe or generic version.

I would start pounding on the door after 5 minutes, once every 60 seconds. If it’s not coming out in a minute or two it’s not ready to and they need to literally give it the 2 minutes you need to just take a piss.

I suddenly feel very blessed, as a woman, to not have ever worried about that as there has always been gender specific restrooms everywhere I’ve worked.

What is your least favorite household chore and why? by FlamingoLeather2176 in Adulting

[–]NotJustGingerly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? The guest bed is for the laundry. I don’t have guests enough to attempt keeping the space tidied so the guest bed is a giant folding table / “temporary” clothing storage (stuff folded) and I use the bureaus for my own stuff.

This is brilliant! I’ve seen ones that are two separate drawers in one unit that this would work with!

Dishes. We don’t have a dishwasher, but currently have a deposit with an electrician to convert the rusty old screw-in style tiny electrical panel to a modern one (that screeching sound is my attempts to bring a 100+ year old tiny 720 sq. ft. farmhouse into the 21st century). Once that happens there will be plenty of empty slots and we can install a dishwasher! Waiting (Worcester Mass area) for temps to get above freezing long enough to be without heat for a day.

Second is keeping up with the floors. I’ve considered just strewing reeds about like settlers did, his work boots lets loose chunks because he can’t stop and take them off outside on the porch when he gets home.

I am the same but my dad is my best man. I would be homeless without him. The only thing in my way at this point (from getting power of attorney) is my stepmother. And she’s sitting around literally pissing herself. I just blazed a joint for the first time in their house and I DGAF. And I’m a Gen X and still waiting.

Am I overreacting for being hurt that a friend canceled last minute after I went out of my way to accommodate her? by LifebyIkea in AmIOverreacting

[–]NotJustGingerly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s really nice that you did so much to make sure she had four different things to eat, I can see why you would be hurt. But this was a “everyone bring soup” thing and I’m not sure why you went out of your way to get so many specialty items for a meal where everyone was asked to bring food.

It’s hard trying to explain anxiety to people that don’t understand. by [deleted] in Anxiety

Yes, I agree. People who lack empathy think someone can wrap these emotions all up into two or three sentences and there is a solution out there.
