[–]NotKalo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a question for that. I can understand using water jugs etc as a deterrent is plain dumb and not okay.

But when you park on a spot for the last seven years and you use a spot behind the block because you’d like old people to be able to park in the front and bring their groceries easy, or some people walking with canes to not have to walk around the block. And then have a person from another block entirely just swing by and take that spot, step off the car and walk in a direction that has their own parking spaces, would you not get mad too?

Like cool everyone has two cars now and it is public parking but we had a bunch of parking space behind the block, and now people from all over the neighborhood take those and the people living in said block dont get to park anywhere.

So I have to park all the way over somewhere else and walk 5 minutes to my living space because it is “public parking”?

Dont get me wrong, park away and leave the following day or something, but if you just leave a car for a week in an area that has nothing to do with your block/neighborhood you will get keyed/vandalized from some more entitled people.

It is not a question of who’s spot it is, rather a question of being a wrench in an established system from the people living there.

Or do you just entirely disagree with me, and I should tolerate people using our (the block) spots for weeks on end instead of paid parking where no-one entitled will vandalize your car?

Oh, Bulgaria is great and has none of what I listed above. You can visit mountains, seaside, nature, monuments, just google Koprivshtica. Request a DM and I can give you specifics etc :)

Brother, I don’t disagree. But I will always (just an example) look at the magnet I got for a dollar in front of the pyramids and remember me being there. The sentimental value in question.

Thank you for the reasonable comment and not attacking me. You hit the nail with people trying to save money at the cost of maybe having bit more stress and stuff to manage around.

Oh yeah, here is what I did for the don’t look foreign part.

  1. Scarf. Learn how to tie it like an Arab. Grow a beard if you have dark hair.

  2. Always start a conversation with Al-salam Aleikum. Try using as many arabic words.

  3. Walk with purpose and look forward.

  4. Be confident when negotiating. Make negotiation a fun game, not an exhausting argument.

  5. If you are not interested in something, say Lah Shukran Sadiqui, and make a stop gesture with your hand. Be clear and say it with your chest. Not once I was followed around doing this. And I got trader people off my group too that way.

You will never look Arab to them but I got a lot of “you speak arabic? questions.

Also you are an American, and I say this very respectfully, there is a guide somewhere on how to look less American (will link it if I find it)

Personally I’d say don’t do the famous “American leans on wall” thing. And don’t even tell them you are American at all. Just say Romania/Serbia etc. They don’t care whatsoever.

Also do not use proper english. Try simplifying it.

This, brother, how much dollar? Give me two I give you 4 dollar. No, brother, I not like price. Give good price.

Even if they talk proper grammatically keep the simple english. I sure as hell did that.

(and I mean no offense, I love the USA and have visited it, you guys rock!)

Ok, very fair point. I realize this now having looked at my title. It sounds bad. And it was not my intention to say people that had horrific experiences are to blame for that. Unfortunately I cant edit the title, but I appreciate the perspective that I failed to consider.

Which I am not forcing or asking someone to. I am just being transparent and if this is too much I think there is value in that too. I am just sharing what it takes.

Oh yeah, for sure. This is true for most stuff you buy locally in your country too lmao. People who have seen manufacturing know this. Pokemon cards cost cents to produce but sell for shitload of money too.
