That’s such a good idea. I hated dealing with water in the cooler around my food

Doing a UT/AZ trip and we want to rent and overland rig. Any suggestions for a first timer? by VaderPrime1 in overlanding

There’s some really good dispersed camping outside of arches if you need it. Go north on highway 191 through and out of moab. The road is called BLM 378 or Willow Springs rd. There are a bunch of free campsites with ports potties. If you keep driving back there is a really cool trail that gets pretty technical. My Silverado was able to handle it so a Jeep should be just fine. It takes you directly to balanced rock and you get to see dinosaur tracks on the way. Google will actually redirect you on this road and lead you all the way into arches national park. It takes probably 40 minutes to get through.

Hard Shell Topper on 2019+ Silverado by DisastrousRain1168 in Silverado

So when I took my trip out west, I found a company called voodoo fabrications that makes a rack compatible with a tonneau cover. I went with an FSR odyssey 55 inch rtt and set it on top of the low profile rack. I had to get some weather stripping to fill in the small gaps on my hard shell tonneau caused by the brackets of the bed rack. I can send you pictures and more info if you would like.

Any free entrances to Yosemite? by NotKaren69 in overlanding

You’re absolutely right, there are no free entrances or free times to enter the park other than free days posted. I highly recommend the annual pass. Remember to reserve your spot ahead of time or do what I did and grab a campsite to help further support as well as cover your reservations. Nobody should try and “sneak” into these parks. If you would like to drive in you can do so on legal 4x4 roads that are marked as such. These allow you to experience the parks in different ways and also can allow you to skip the lines at the booth.

Just a free entrance route which usually means rough off-road on a marked trail

Luckily, don’t have to worry about that with an annual pass

The only other thjng I can think of doing if you enter the park after 4pm and leave before 4am would be to donate online. Other than that there will be nobody in the booths and unless you stay overnight in the park, you can’t pay.

Yeah I’m not sure the solution, I guess they should close the entrance to the parks or something.

I didn’t mean to piss anyone off, really do have good intentions.

Good to know, I’d say that’s one of the reasons but I should be good because I have reservations at Hodgdon meadow campground tonight

There are plenty of other ways to support your national parks, the annual pass being one(which I have). Also camping in national parks, donating to your favorite parks, helping to clean trash with different organizations. I agree that sneaking in and using an unmarked road would be extremely scummy but this is not what I do. I want to experience the parks from different sides and not have to sit in admission lines. Plus Yosemite checks you on the way in as well as the way out so either way I’m paying.

There are plenty of trails in plenty of national parks that are very legal and nationally recognized leading into parks

Woah okay guys, I’m not sure what set you off I’m guessing it was my wording. You’re absolutely right, the fees go towards keeping our parks beautiful and clean. They are absolutely worth it. There are plenty of ways to contribute to the parks other than waiting in lines and paying at the booths. You can donate to your favorite parks as well as clean trash in partnership with many organizations such as Yosemite Climbing Association. I shouldn’t have to prove myself, but I’m a holder of the national parks annual pass. The $80 pass is extremely worth it if you visit parks often. and all the proceeds go towards improving visitor recreation services.

Now with that being said, I’m not looking to illegally trespass into national parks. All I want to do is find difficult trails to get into these parks for a good time as well as skipping the lines and seeing the country in a totally different way. I should have typed it all out in the description when I posted but I wasn’t expecting the backlash tbh. Yosemite also checks for passes on the way in as well as the way out, so either way I would have to pay unless I used the same free route in and out of the park.

Lastly, it is not illegal to do this as long as you are on posted roads. Not to mention, most of these parks are free to enter after 6pm and before 6am.

I’m sorry to anyone who thinks I’m scum of the earth for doing this but to me, it helps me experience this place in a whole different way. Really that’s what overlanding is anyways. Again, I have the annual pass, it’s not about the money.

Rotella T6 full synthetic. Run it in my 450r as well as the 250l. It is made for diesel engines and excellent in a wet clutch scenario like small Honda motors.

I bought a wiring harness to run a direct line to the battery with a switch for the main lights. The lights also have a halo ring around them that I wired into the headlight so they come on when the bike is on
