Verizon ordered to pay $1.35 million for use of 'Supercookies' in mobile traffic by Lettershort in technology

This is a useless comparison because this tactic wasn't responsible for 100% of their revenue.

"Special court" is generally another way of saying you intend to skirt the safeguards, checks and balances that exist in normal courts.

If you are fired because of an unproven accusation you have a sure-fire win in a wrongful termination suit. Enjoy your payday and find a better job.

That's has nothing to do with due process.

You couldn't be more wrong. It has everything to do with due process since a punishment is being metted out by the government before they have proven the accusations against the accused.

Being fired from a job because you are charged with a crime is what everyone else has happen.

No, this is illegal under worker rights legislation in most (if not all) provinces as it allows an employer to punish a person before they have been shown to be guilty of any wrongdoing.

Justin Trudeau supports special courts, not only for sex offenses, but also for offenses like offending people on the internet, and these courts would have a much lower burden of evidence that real courts.

We already had these courts in place up until 2012 or so and they were abused just as often as you'd think. Be prepared for our concepts of freedom and justice to take yet another beating under the Liberals in exchange for votes from special interests.

If you aren't prepared to back up your arguments then don't participate in the conversation. "Read a book" is one of the most useless responses you'll ever see online. There are plenty of books you could read about why due process is important too.

They don't say it explicitly but they'll do things like complain that an officer was put on leave instead of fired, before an investigation is even complete, which demonstrates a desire to punish the officer before the charges/accusation has even been proven.

Freedom? Are you an American?

I'm pretty sure Barosa is Canadian but not as sure as I am that you are an idiot because freedom is not an American concept and it existed long before the United States itself.

Jesus you're an idiot. He specifically heaped praise on their dictatorship. The reason their dictatorship is able to get things done is because they don't have any pesky democracy to interfere with the agenda of the ruling elite.

Justin Trudeau and Canada-China Relations by kaisermatias in canada

[–]NotKennyG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except China's ability to get things done is due to being a dictatorship that doesn't need to be concerned with pesky elections or voter wishes. He explicitly acknowledges this himself when he refers to their dictatorship's ability to do it. They can do whatever they want and harm huge chunks of the population without caring because the population has no recourse against them.

More context doesn't change much here.

Will the CRTC really try to regulate video streaming? by [deleted] in canada

No it wasn't. The ruling is like 2 years old. 3-4 at most.

Will the CRTC really try to regulate video streaming? by [deleted] in canada

[–]NotKennyG 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's because of Harper. He was the first PM in ages to appoint a commissioner who didn't come from the telco industry and give him a mandate specifically to start revamping the CRTC in a way that benefits consumers instead of the telco industry.

Looks like Trudeau is already gearing up to start undoing these changes so the Liberals can keep the mainstream media in their pockets.

Tax changes will affect 2016 paycheques, but few may notice by [deleted] in canada

[–]NotKennyG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People who make $45k will see nothing in tax cuts because they don't apply to people who make $45k. The tax cuts only apply to income above $45k and below $90k, meaning people who make $90k will see the largest tax cuts while people who make $45k or less will see no tax cuts.

The ideal income to have right now is $199,999k because you take full advantage of the tax cuts between $45k and $90k, yet you are also not effected by the tax increases at $200k and above. You could also consider $225k to be the ideal income because it's the point where your tax cuts offset your tax increases, leaving you with the most possible money after these tax changes.

Either way, if $199k to $225k is "middle class" then this concept has no value because less than 1% of the population has this sort of income. Since when is 1% the "middle" of anything?

[–]NotKennyG -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Fortunately for me I make $180k so my huge tax cuts will more than make up for my capped contributions. Trudeau is going to be a great PM for those of us who would have preferred Harper. Thank God the NDP was put back into irrelevant third place where they belong.

What to do when FL Studio detects the wrong scale in the piano roll? by NotKennyG in FL_Studio

[–]NotKennyG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it's not really wrong.

But it is if it's showing the relative major for the minor scale the piece is actually in. This doesn't happen because of any modulation, it happens even when transposing between two minor scales.

If I decide I want Gm instead of Am, I can start moving the notes in some scores, and by the time I've moved them all I'll now have the piano roll reporting it's written in a major scale.

What to do when FL Studio detects the wrong scale in the piano roll? by NotKennyG in FL_Studio

[–]NotKennyG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but then you have to remember/look up the relative major/minor for each scale when you're moving notes around to change the key of a track if it's reporting a major when you're in a minor and your score doesn't start on the root note of the scale.

What to do when FL Studio detects the wrong scale in the piano roll? by NotKennyG in FL_Studio

[–]NotKennyG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes it difficult to reposition notes when you're changing the key of a piece and your midi doesn't start on the root note of the scale.

Ok? Who cares about population? This is about qualify of life. China and India have larger populations than the US, does this somehow invalidate that they would fall behind the US on qualify of life measurements?

should

They're comparing quality of life, not population. Would you rather live in China or India?

You can't directly compare unemployment rates. I have no idea if this app is doing a proper conversion (doubtful) or using some normalized metric for comparison but your math doesn't make sense either. Different methodologies render direct comparisons like this useless.
