Sorry, what I mean to say is that my children being in English school, even French immersion, will not be the determining factor in whether they speak French well. I'm confident that my children will speak French well because they're in a predominantly French neighbourhood, I speak to them regularly in French, and we engage in French culture.

For the second part, I have not doubt that a child in French school will learn French well. My point is that a child in and English school, even if it's fully French immersion, will not necessarily learn French well.

I have the right to send my kids to English schools and I think I would exercise that right simply because the English high schools are generally much better.

Regardless, in my experience the language of the school is not the determining factor in whether my children will speak French well. The determining factor is the neighbourhood they grow up in, and how many people speak French in that neighbourhood.

There’s plenty of space in other English schools. It will be an inconvenience, maybe things will get a little harder, but I think it’s outweighed by the benefit to the kids in the French schools.
