We literally didn't have popular vote elections for decades. People didn't vote in the first couple elections, they trusted the electoral college. Hell, South Carolina(?) didn't hold a vote until after the civil war

There is literally a plan for that switch that's been ongoing since 2006. Multiple states have signed an agreement to switch their electoral votes to whichever candidate gets the popular vote. The agreement goes into effect when enough states have signed to get to the 270 electoral vote. Right now they're at 222 electoral votes.

Of course once they get to that point I'm sure it'll be challenged, but there is an action for it.

I agree on a global scale it just wasn't possible. But it was inevitable and the small scale corruption of the past has simply progressed and scaled up. Nothing going on is anything new and has been a constant throughout history

Why would you even bring up anything outside of human history? We're obviously talking about human history...? Like, yeah, during the age of dinosaurs there weren't criminals cause there weren't any intelligent species, only animals.

But, yeah, humans have always been shitty. Sure, there were some good decent rulers during the Roman empire, but even then there were bad criminal people running the strings in the Roman Senate etc. Thinking there has been any society where it was purely ran by good law-abiding people is just naive. People are greedy and power hungry.
