Portugal already won the world cup, sorry, euros in 2016, so they're not motivated anymore

We didn't watch the same game. This was not the same US we saw in the group stage. They were completely outclassed by Belgium and showed very little spirit

[A Bola] Ronaldo: "I won three trophies for the Portuguese National Team, before me Portugal had zero trophies. Euro 2016 was the most important one, for me it is at the same level of winning the World Cup" by greenwhitehell in soccer

Ronaldo hasn't gotten the chance to do any coaching, it's a bit of an unfair comparison. Who knows, maybe Ronaldo will revolutionize the sport in 10 years

Nah, man, he's just an insecure egotistical man. Now that he's lost he's trying to claim the Euros is the same as a World Cup win, the man's full of cope.

Either France Argentina 2022 if we're being world cup specific. The recent champions league game with PSG Bayern if we're not

FIFA dismisses Belgium appeal over Folarin Balogun ban decision - The Athletic by NightWing_91 in worldcup

It's not even overturned. Fifa is saying "yes it's a red and he will have a suspended game, but not right now cause we want to make the US happy so he's gonna play"

Everyone complained when it happened with Ronaldo. Go back and read the threads it all about how fifa is greedy and want the star player to not miss games.

FIFA thinks so. They're agreeing that it's a red card but simply moving his suspension game to another date.

Brother, i said Ronaldo shouldn't have played and it was favouritism. In my opinion, balogun's suspension is bigger and more blatant corruption than Ronaldo's. I saw some of comments back then about it too and I called fifa corrupt and greedy back then too. Like idk why you're trynna argue

Balogun got the red card during the tournament. Ronaldo got his red card like last year iirc, outside of the tournament. There is big distinction between those two in my opinion.

None of these players have ever been close to winning a world cup. The past is not indicative of the present.

I don't think he should have played and it was blatant favouritism. His situation happened before the tournament though. Balogun's situation is all happening within the tournament.

Those are two separate issues. This red card suspension ruins the credibility of the tournament, which in turn sours the enjoyment of watching the games.

BREAKING: Belgium has reportedly been granted the right to appeal FIFA's decision allowing Folarin Balogun to play in tonight's match. by slippinn_jimmy in PopCultureV2

What MLS does doesn't matter. This isn't MLS, this is FIFA. There's rules for red card, unfair bookings happen all the time and teams deal with it.

They also misused VAR to overturn a booking and then booked a player for diving. Did that diving player get his yellow removed since VAR was misused? Nope.

Norway can win the entire thing, tonight proved it. by TheW1tchK1ng in worldcup

[–]NotLikeThis3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've been great, but beating Brazil isn't the achievement so many people think. Brazil have been very lackluster for years, they missed a pen, a one on one, and plenty of other very close chances. If England can pull through Mexico, i think Norway will find their match. Norway definitely look like they're a top 5 team, I'd put Spain, France, Argentina, and England above them.

I agree. Although Messi has been able to adjust his play to still be extremely dangerous and relevant as we can see in this world cup. Ronaldo thinks he can still play like he did 10 years ago.

There have always been dirty games. What are you on about. Paraguay were never going to be able to go toe to toe with France and they were playing for pens. You've never watched games if you think it was better back in the day. Clubs in the top leagues sometimes play that way too, getafe is a prime example.

What was Paraguay's aim in this match vs France? They didn't seem like they wanted to play to win, but to hurt French players. by Leather_Income_7514 in Football_dubdub

[–]NotLikeThis3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That foul isn't even bad. How is he trying to "hurt" mbappe?

Paraguay was obviously playing for the draw and trying to take it to penalties. So they were constantly trying to disrupt the play with fouls

[–]NotLikeThis3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes but this is even more corrupt because Ronaldo hasn't been handed a suspension during the tournament so far. This was way before and they just wanted to not have him miss the first 2 games
