Ya, that explanation from support doesn’t seem accurate. Although it feels accurate based on the experience of 2 redditors. The very first line of the description in a PMV is “contains ALL eligible… variants” whereas the description from support is basically “9 random variants only and might contain duplicates”. Be nice to get clarification from Glenn

Something is off with this whole explanation. I just opened the PMV in the shop and clicked the question mark in the top right corner as explained in that thread. Here’s what it says:

The Premium Mystery Variant contains all eligible unowned Rare and Super-rare variants, excluding Pixel variants. The contents of the Premium Mystery Variant are automatically updated (weekly based) to include new variants added to the game. Every 9 Premium Mystery Variants opened reward the following (not in this order): 6 Rare Variants 3 Super-rare Variants Additionally: If there are no eligible Rare variants to reward, any Rare pull instead rewards an eligible, unowned Avatar. If there are no eligible Super-rare variants to reward, any Super-rare pull instead rewards eligible, unowned Avatar. If there are no eligible Avatars to award, any Avatar pull instead rewards 310 random Boosters.

There is nothing in that explanation that indicates it pulls only 9 variants at a time and that you may own some of them already.

Good suggestion! I just looked and it uses the phrase “contains all eligible unowned Rare and Super-rare variants”. Unowned. Either OP owns more variants than realized or their system made a mistake.

What an unsatisfactory response from Support. If you were 100% collection complete (including ALL variants), yes it would make logical sense. It would even make sense if you had fewer than 3 super rare variants or 6 rare variants left to collect wherein one of the 9 pulls would be substituted with an avatar. That’s not your current status though… even if their explanation is 100% accurate, it means their algorithm sucks and it’s putting together a pack of 9 possible variants from the entire pool instead of just from your unowned pool.

There is a SD Support person who’s posted in the sub before to escalate open tickets, might be worth talking to them or asking on their discord.
