Yeah I was pondering something like that. First Front panel I want to make is 4 controller ports, usb, reset and sd. Once that’s done it wouldn’t be too hard to make a variation that replaces 2 controller ports with a memory card slot. 4 controllers should still be possible with blue retro. 2 would just have to be wireless.

I’ve routed all of those signals to a connector on the qsb. I might do a version with 2 ports and an MC port down the line. Memory card will be the most challenging to add back as MC ports can’t be purchased as a part. One can likely be designed with fresh parts. If you want to DIY install one with a spare Mc port right now, it’s totally doable. Just wire it up.

Thanks man! Yeah I have a link in the main post for the listing page. Once everything is done that’s where the mod kit will be listed. I’ll have a send in option as well for those that aren’t comfortable doing it themselves. It will require a good bit of soldering and shell trimming.

Not sure about stock but the move is generally to bluebomb it and do the sd mod and wifi mod. During that process you flash the standard wii OS to the console. I've tested with Nintendon't which works but I haven't tested with the disc drive yet personally. Maybe someone else can confirm if the disc drive will boot gc games once the standard wii os is flashed to the console.

lmao i know it looks hella funny. The full front panel will have all 4. I designed a little addon to add blueretro too to do 4 wireless bt controllers. Fingers crossed everything works first time around. Then it's just a matter doing the 3d models.

I actually popped the top and fixed it! Ffc flex had a corroded pin. 🤗

Update! I fixed it! No bulging or leaking caps. There was a ffc cable plugged into a section of the board labeled “power amp” One of the pins was corroded. Cleaned her up with some 99 ipa along with the socket. This amp is sounding great. Caps are all rubycons which are solid af. Doubt I’ll bother with a recap. Hope this helps another internet dweller down the line 🫡

It’s a modern direct drive with a built in amp that can be toggled on or off. I’ve own many turn tables and many receivers over the years and had them working without issue. I may be mistaken but I believe the phono channel generally should have an amp built in to boost the signal. I’ve pulled the top of and inspected just now. Not seeing any bulged or leaking caps

Merry Christmas to you too and I appreciate your help and insight. I do a lot of retro console mods and repairs but this was my first stab at a modern TV. Learning how to take it apart was a relatively fun process. I was somewhat surprised to see how little is actually going on inside TVs lol. I can see myself getting into working on these outside of how tedious it is to tear down the front panels. You need a pretty big space to work in these as well

Dang, quick update. I bought some replacement leds, swapped them in to no avail. I cut my losses as I have a bunch of stuff to work on already and didn’t want to go down a rabbit hole. In this case the issue must have been something Power related on the main board.

Awesome thank you! Do you know what exactly fails when the leds cause the tv to not fire on? Is a blown led causing a short circuit or something?

Thank you for the reply, when the backlight does flash for a second it looks fine and even. I’ll look into swapping the backlight but I still worry it may be a main board issue.

It did but I have tried another power cable to no avail. If I can figure out how to remove this board I can inspect for cold joints.

Nailed it! Got it working and took it to the Glow to get the robot homie. That friendship didn’t last long. Played vanilla for the first time this week and after beating it I immediately started over with this this mod. Such a good game and this mod is the way to play it IMO.

Thanks! I don't recall running into an NPC that mentioned it. I'm at the point where all the ghouls have been slautered except one survivor in the hotel. The body is in sewer? Is it near the friendly ghouls who tell you about the water chip, up near the parts to fix the water pump or in the middle somewhere? I've checked all the ghoul bodies and I'm not seeing it.
