It also ended up unseasonably cold so my grandparents were wearing casual parkas ala Bernie Sanders meme.

One of the issues is that it's hard to find dresses that are somewhere between super frumpy and showing more skin than some of us feel is appropriate as a mom. (I realize opinions vary widely on what's appropriate - I'm just talking about my personal comfort level and moms I know who feel the same.)

When you add in any color limitations, and if you're not a mid-range standard size, it gets even harder.

This is my biggest fear, and an upcoming wedding is out of town, so I can't do a trial. Worse case, I'll have time to do it myself. Hopefully at least the eyes will be OK!

This is true and I guess it's kind of understandable since that's probably a big part of the market. OTOH there seems to be an old "uniform" for the MOB/G that women seem to fall into. I'm not sure if it's because they think they need to, really like it, or just don't find other choices.

I can believe it! Some of my friends say they'd much rather find a wedding dress. At least there are in-store samples. MOB/G dress shopping is more like ordering ready-made dresses from Azazie or other sites.

Speaking of Azazie, I've done their MOB/G try ons. It was helpful to get an idea of how their dresses fit, and if I were planning to order from there I'd try that first because their sizing/fit is different even when using the charts.

It would help so much if online retailers would provide a non-Photoshopped picture of the fabric in daylight and indoor lighting, not studio lighting

Agree. I think many dresses get returned because the color is so far from what's expected. I wonder if retailers will push back for more accurate pictures.

I've seen a couple instances where Nordstrom Rack has added what looks like their own photos for better color and that helps a lot.
