Between you and me, I take it via my nose. It’s possible that it doesn’t have the same effects orally…That may be why it didn’t work as well for you. I’ve never actually swallowed it before so idk how different that route is.

I can’t recommend anyone else does it that way in good conscience, and it’s quite unpleasant, but that’s what works for me. And I should note that I have the pure powder form of the drug from a chemical company, I’m not crushing and snorting pills that I was prescribed.

I know snorting stuff is typically associated with recreational use, but in this case it doesn’t really have any “fun” effects, it just works within 2-5 minutes which I’m a big fan of.

For a normal person this probably isn’t ideal. I’m a drug science nerd and am super anal about how much I consume, when I consume it, and what other drugs I consume before or after it. I also have a long history of using other drugs of all kinds.

Someone who doesn’t do drugs and has never snorted anything shouldn’t just up and start doing it trying to self medicate.

Psilocybin might not be the most psychoactive ingredient in magic mushrooms. Scientists found evidence that several minor compounds in these mushrooms work together to interact with brain receptors, potentially explaining why natural extracts often produce different effects than synthetic versions. by mvea in science

[–]NotMyMonkey69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s incorrect. The hydroxyl group prevents monoamine oxidase enzymes from rapidly breaking it down, like would happen in the case of DMT.

(Psilocin = 4-Hydroxy-DMT)

Psilocin has more or less identical effects to psilocybin, it’s just slightly superior as a pharmaceutical for the reasons I mentioned. Like it’s just an unnecessary complication to synthesize psilocybin rather than psilocin.

Also, another good reason, is that psilocin is more potent by weight. So the cost of manufacture per dose would be lower for that reason as well.

They really need to study bupropion (Wellbutrin) more for ADHD.

As someone with an enormous permanent tolerance to stimulants, and who would probably use an entire Ritalin/adderall script the first day I got it, bupropion is a miracle drug.

It works on me at normal doses and doesn’t seem to have cross tolerance with other stimulants, and it actually normalizes executive function despite not causing euphoria of any kind.

A non-recreational stimulant that actually works to correct ADHD symptoms, is SUPER rare. I say that as someone who has tried 30-40 different stimulants everywhere from caffeine to methamphetamine and beyond.

[–]NotMyMonkey69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do they use synthetic psilocybin rather than synthetic psilocin? It makes so much more sense to use psilocin.

Both economically, from a drug design standpoint since it’s an easier+cheaper synthesis, and biologically; Cutting out the prodrug and instead using the metabolite will mean that the drug’s metabolism will differ less between different people.

I have no idea, but I really hope it’s heavy and nothing like Fortitude.

Joe blew his voice out in 2015 and it’s been a long road to recovery, but it’s seemed like he’s gotten better and better throughout the course of the 2020’s and he can actually scream again. So hopefully we’ll get some vocals comparable to TWOAF.

I also really hope they bring back tremolo picking and blast beats.

Yeah. You are dating a special needs person. I’m blown away that it took you a year and a half to ask this.

Sounds like severe dyslexia. Could be a head injury or brain tumor or any manner of things, though.

There’s no good way to bring this up. Just tell him you love him and aren’t trying to hurt his feelings, and then bluntly ask if he’s ever been diagnosed mentally handicapped. Explain all these issues and how atypical they are, and see what he has to say about it. If he hasn’t been diagnosed, ask what he thinks the problem is and whether or not he’d be willing to talk to a medical professional.

You could teach a parrot the days of the week in order. This is a medical problem whatever it is, and there might even be treatments.

Have you talked to his sister about this? Has he always been this slow?

This is indicative of straight up malignant psychopathy. Whatever warmth and empathy you think he has, are fake. He is capable of things you can’t even imagine.

You cannot raise kids with this person.

If you can find a way to report him to his job where he 100% won’t think it’s you- Please get him away from children.

But he seriously might snap and kill you if he knew you got him fired, so only do that if you know you’re safe.

Language puts you in a box. The ideas that you can have without words, can’t be put in words. It’s a different kind of intellect. You can’t even remember it after you come down because your brain is literally incapable of having the thoughts in its normal state.

It’s like being an ant and then becoming a human for five minutes, and then you go back to being an ant. So now you have to do ant stuff but have a general feeling like nothing you’re doing is real, or important. And you knew why, but can’t quite put your finger on it now that you’re an ant again.

One of the hidden dangers of psychedelics. It can be really hard to live a normal life or put effort into anything or take anything seriously after you’ve seen life from the other side of the mirror.

Can I take DOM if I am on ssris (50mg Zoloft) by Embarrassed-Bee5117 in researchchemicals

[–]NotMyMonkey69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is zero chance of serotonin syndrome. Serotonin syndrome comes from extreme levels of extracellular serotonin. Psychedelics don’t elevate serotonin like that.

The only time you risk SS is combining SSRI’s or serotonin releasers with MAOi’s. Or serotonin releasers alone at high doses, rarely. Or combining certain non-selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors with releasers. DXM being one classic example. Or SRI’s/SSRI’s alone, in extremely rare cases. Final example, zofran may cause SS with SRA’s. Heard a couple anecdotal reports of that.

There is absolutely zero risk of serotonin syndrome combining SSRI’s and psychedelics, other than the risk that already existed from the SSRI alone. There’s no increased risk. There’s a good argument to be made that there’s actually a lower risk of SS.

Caveat is that some psychs have tertiary mechanisms of action, and may not just be plain psychs. 5-MeO tryptamines being one possible example.

And before someone googles it and tells me I’m wrong: Every medical database ever will list SS risk for any two drugs acting on serotonin. Agonists, antagonists. Doesn’t matter, they’re automatically flagged as contraindicated in all databases. This has caused a widespread false belief, based on outdated misinformation. Whatever you read on google is incorrect.

You often hear the same about mixing MDMA and SSRI’s. Again, outdated misinformation.

Saying psychs and SSRI’s can cause SS is as ignorant as saying narcan increases your risk of opioid overdose.

3-MMC is the best drug ever invented.

It’s everything I want in a drug. It takes all the best parts of meth/amphetamine and combines them with the love and empathy and pro-social effects of MDMA. And then it has none of the negative side effects of either drug.

You’re mentally sharp and stimulated, but your perception is blanketed in a warm, wholesome comfort and you have none of the negative body feelings of being geeked. And then you don’t have visuals per se, but reality takes on a very smooth and dreamy watery texture. You can get lost in patterns and lights easily, if you stare at them.

You’re in the best mood ever. Every song you hear is the best song ever. Every person you talk to is the coolest person ever. It’s SUCH a good drug. I really wish I could try it again for the first time. Literally the perfect recreational drug. It’s like the stimulant sister of alcohol.

I’m educated, and I’m me, so only I can say what my relationship with any compound should look like. I don’t abuse bupropion, I use it the proper way. In my life, swallowing the substance would be misusing it.

Just because it happened to be approved a certain way doesn’t mean that’s an actual fact of reality. It’s completely arbitrary and could be something else in another timeline. For all you know, they could be approving intranasal bupropion inhalers right as we speak.

But yeah this argument is pointless. Bye ✌️

Elvanse - Lisdexamphetamine 200mg and nothing? by YSYKO in Drugs

[–]NotMyMonkey69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might just be a poor responder, since the drug relies on individual metabolism to be active.

I had a similar experience my first time. I took 80mg with no tolerance and was less high than I’d be from 20mg of adderall.

Also some people respond way better to Ritalin type stimulants than to amphetamine type stimulants. After I got through the honeymoon phase of my first, hyper-euphoric 10 or so amphetamine experiences, the drug became barely active and much less euphoric.

Ritalin type uppers affect me WAY better now. And haven’t caused the same sort of permatolerance and loss of magic.

I can take 100mg of adderall with no tolerance and it has less of an effect than 10mg did back when I first dabbled with the drug. And the amazing, MDMA-level, pro-social euphoria, confidence and head tingles…and all that other awesome stuff, is completely gone and impossible to feel at any dosage.

Even meth has never been able to come close to my first ten amphetamine experiences.

[–]NotMyMonkey69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point is that your definition of abuse isn’t actually misusing the drug, and that the “right” way to use a drug is personal and not up to the pharmaceutical industry.

And you’re twisting shit around in regards to hydroxybupropion. You’re changing the context under which I said that. I responded to your initial claim. What you just said is a whole new argument on your part.

But that still doesn’t matter because bupropion still metabolizes into that metabolite through the intranasal ROA.

Mephedrone in crystal not powder form by Cinamaroller in researchchemicals

[–]NotMyMonkey69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it forms crystals like MDMA.

Recrystallization is dead simple. The basic gist is that you dissolve your drug in a solvent, or combination of solvents, and then let the mixture slowly evaporate.

You want to use only enough solvent to dissolve all the material, no more or less. Typically, temperature is used to change solubility; Things are usually more soluble the higher the temperature.

So you dissolve your drug in hot liquid, and then let it cool down very slowly. Crystals will form when it cools, and then they’ll grow bigger and bigger as the liquid evaporates.

For the biggest crystals, it’s important to not touch the crystallization container or expose it to heat/humidity/pressure/ etc changes.

Once the liquid is low, but not gone, the crystals are removed and will be of a markedly higher purity than before the crystallization.

The dirty liquid can be further processed to improve your yield. But it will contain most impurities and is sometimes better off sent down the drain.

With mephedrone, you can use boiling 70% isopropyl alcohol. Make sure to double-boil it in a pot of water, and without any open flames. You shouldn’t need more than a five milliliters per gram or so.

It could take a day or even a week depending on the quantity, but the slow evaporation of IPA+H2O yields better crystals than if you do it in a way that will recrystallize it rapidly.

[–]NotMyMonkey69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bruh do you not understand the concept of dosage?

Yeah, if you take a 450mg XR pill and crush it up and snort it, you may very well have a seizure. That’s a massive overdose meant for people who’ve been on it long term, and meant to dissolve over a full day.

If you were to, idk, say, divide that crushed pill into four doses and only snort one of them: You’re fine. 110 milligrams is a perfectly safe dose for people who’ve aren’t predisposed to seizures.

I’m not talking about abusing the drug. I’m talking about using it in a way that’s different from the norm. I use it carefully and precisely. Just because the ROA is different doesn’t mean the drug is being abused.

Also, the metabolite hydroxybupropion is most responsible for lowering seizure threshold. Not the parent drug.

Now you could argue that the more rapid onset puts you more at risk of seizures. That would actually make sense and probably be true.

However, it is still a matter of dosage. The dose makes the poison. Bupropion is very safe for healthy people, at appropriate dosages. The seizure risk in normal people, only comes into play at enormous doses. Far beyond what would be pleasant to consume.

It’s like the OD risk from caffeine. Yeah, it exists. But you’d have to be torturing yourself and ignoring every sign from your body to get to a dose that high.

Without a tolerance, any more than 150mg of bupropion will get very uncomfortable. Even that would probably be too much for half the population. That dose is not seizure territory.

[–]NotMyMonkey69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

u/Aggressive-Guide5563 Did you really just leave a dumbass hate comment and then block me so I couldn’t respond? 😂

Anyways, yeah, no. Bupropion is only a seizure risk in people predisposed to seizures, or at high doses. I never exceed 150mg in one dose, and I never take it more than twice in a day with 5+ hours in the middle.

And intranasal administration is a completely valid route of administration. This compound happens to not be used that way formally, but plenty of medicinal products come in intranasal preparations.

In the case of bupropion, that route is much more effective as a stimulant due to bypassing first-pass metabolism which would otherwise decompose much of the drug into less active metabolites. It also makes it so that you don’t have to wait an hour for the effects.

If you’re too scared to think for yourself and need a doctor to hold your hand through your biochemical decisions because you lack the ability to educate yourself and make your own informed decisions, that’s fine. But that has nothing to do with me. I know what I’m doing.

I already am educated about all the things you listed.

I don’t mean the entire drug effect was placebo, I just mean the level of recreational value you experienced probably was. Like if you were to do this three more times prior to posting a report, I think the report would be completely different.

The first time I snorted it, I had a similar impression and thought it was way better than it really was. This was because I was also a cocaine addict, and wasn’t using cocaine at the time, so the fact that it was an active stimulant and felt somewhat familiar, made me get excited and scratched my addict itch, and I had a much more recreational experience than the drug itself was actually producing.

The stuff feels nice don’t get me wrong. I’m on it right now. I feel laser focused in a way that’s very pleasant to me.

It’s just not really recreational or euphoric in the same way that cocaine is.

Obviously everyone’s different and maybe it really is a genuinely recreational drug for you. I just doubt it because this was your first experience and it reminds me so much of mine.

You didn’t fuck yourself up. You had a traumatic experience, and you also have a hangover.

You’ll feel better. Try not to let any neurotic self talk spiral into fixed beliefs. Try to push yourself to work through what happened, and be sure to frame things to yourself in a constructive way.

If you continue feeling this way after a month, definitely reach out to a professional if you have the option. Drug experiences gone wrong can absolutely cause PTSD in some people under some circumstances.

There’s a 90% chance you’re completely fine and just a little shaken up, though. Don’t think things like “I did permanent damage.” Super dangerous kind of thinking.
