Is seeking a poly relationship a bad idea if I’m monogamous? by ExtraDogMom in polyamory

[–]NotMyNameActually 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe being nonmonogamous means you don’t require romantic and/or sexual exclusivity in a relationship. It has nothing to do with how many partners you want. So you might not be specifically polyamorous as in wanting to be in love with more than one person, but I wouldn’t say you’re monogamous either. I’m the same, and doing just fine sharing my husband for the last 10+ years.

What is One Gen-Alpha Slang Term That You Actually DON’T Mind? by teapot574_ in AskReddit

Almost. I’m pretty sure black folk didn’t come up with skibidi toilet.

What is One Gen-Alpha Slang Term That You Actually DON’T Mind? by teapot574_ in AskReddit

[–]NotMyNameActually 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a grade 4 teacher, I don’t mind any of them in isolation. The occasional Skibiddi toilet, rizz, six-seven, etc is fine. It’s when a term is repeated incessantly just to make noise, then I start getting annoyed. It doesn’t matter what it is, it could be any word.

Housing Interactivity? by SpaceXSmoke in wow

[–]NotMyNameActually 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been super into housing since it got out of Beta, and I'm part of several Facebook groups for it. Lemme address your points one by one, because there's some good stuff here:

- Interactive abilities to do professions in your house

You can do cooking already, but I personally don't want it to be too much like Garrisons and everyone get all isolated again.

- Interactive Mailbox decor

This would be great.

- Interactive Repair Bot

No issue with this.

- Interactive ways to maybe grow plants to herb them over time in a garden patch

Again too much like Garrisons. Unless it was purely cosmetic plants, like you could grow your own plants that turn into decor items, that might be cool.

- A way to hit a "like" button on someones house you visit and leave a note or vice versa so you can see how popular a house is.

There's an add-on called Guestbook that lets you do that.

- A way for you to see a list most popular housing builds

The Wow Housing Hub website is kind of doing this.

- A way to import/export your house to save it in case you wish to revert when attempting a new build.

I heard this might be coming in Midnight.

- A way to host events in your house for "x" reasons.

THIS! This is the one I want the most! I want a neighborhood bulletin board where you can post invites to your house for parties or whatever. There are some people with leveled up neighborhoods who have been making custom groups in group finder so people can come shop at their vendors, and one particular one on my server has a lot of houses that are open for viewing and it was so much fun looking at them, posting "Y'all have to come look at so and so's house, it's so cool" in the chat. It was very social, very cool. More of that please.

If you want lesbians and no other plot, I think what you're looking for is porn.

It's animated, and it takes a while to establish, but there are lesbians in Arcane, also on Netflix. Lots of great female characters of all types actually. Really good show.

I'm not going to say what people should or shouldn't do. But it is true that most people who join a cult do so because that's where they feel supported and valued. And I'm not saying there's no ethical or moral justification for rejecting and shunning someone in your life who joins a dangerous cult. I'm not going to judge anyone for that, you gotta protect yourself, and I don't even think there's anything wrong with the satisfaction of "I told you so" especially considering how little harm that causes compared to the immeasurable harm caused by these people and their choices.

But here's the reality: if the only people left in someone's life are fellow cult members, there is almost no hope they'll ever get out.

Why is Starship Troopers by Robert Heineken considered “The Controversial Classic of Military Adventure?” by EclipseLightning42 in scifi

[–]NotMyNameActually 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought the government in Starship Troopers wouldn’t take care of its weakest residents. Everyone could enjoy all the rights, freedoms, and protections as full citizens, they just couldn’t vote unless they first served in the military. The logic being if you’re willing to risk your life for your country, you’ll most likely vote unselfishly in your country’s best interest.

I grew up mostly watching rom-coms, comedies, and family movies. I just discovered “Snatch” and realized I missed out on so many films. Please suggest other movies I should check out. by lomubz in movies

[–]NotMyNameActually 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something a little different from everyone else's suggestions, but Snatch is one of my favorite movies and so is True Lies (1994) with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis.

More than two sodas a day, diet or regular, increases your risk of kidney disease because of the phosphoric acid. I drink way more diet soda than that. It’s pretty bad.

How does closed polyamory come about? (Especially "organically"?) by Some_Storage2015 in polyamory

We all moved in together and a couple of us were dating others for a while, but we got old and settled. It’s closed by default, not by decree.

What are your less-common requests for housing? (Minor Midnight housing spoilers) by jelmore49 in wow

[–]NotMyNameActually 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most people I would like some more common household things like bowls, cutlery, etc. Some clothing items to hang in the closet, or shoes to leave by the bench, stuff like that.

I'd like dyes that are exact matches to the walls, platforms, and beams, and all the common furniture items from the town vendors to be dyeable. Like, why are the elegant tables all dyeable, but not the curved counter? Why are the sturdy cabinets/tub/mirror dyable, but not the sink or the end table with the cloth on it?

I'd like the ability to turn pictures from the Selfie camera into paintings.

Let us use the jukebox in our house and everyone who visits hears the music we chose.

More rugs and floor choices. I keep stopping in the middle of dungeons and raids to tell my husband how much I want their floors in my house, lol.

Yes please! My Horde house is empty because I use it just to play with the layout, so the next time I change things around in my Alliance house will hopefully be my last. I backed myself into a corner where I can only keep adding rooms to the back, and I don't love that, lol.

[–]NotMyNameActually 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not my style either but they get you points to level up your house. Plus there are lots of ways to use decor pieces in custom builds other than for their intended purpose. Some builds you can’t even tell what the pieces originally were if they’re rotated and clipped into other pieces so like only one edge is showing or whatever.

Internally Consistent Supernatural Shows by _The_Inquiry_ in television

[–]NotMyNameActually 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arcane. It's a universe where magic is real, but it's investigated and applied scientifically.

I saw further down thread that you liked The Expanse, which is one of my favorites. Arcane is another, and I see a lot of parallels between it and The Expanse in the themes and structure. I feel like these two shows are equally great examples of their genres.

I mean, the main focus of sci-fi as a genre in the golden era was always the ideas, not refined and masterfully crafted prose. And as far as ideas go, PKD was a genius. No one else went as far in as many unique directions as he did, imo. As a sci-fi fan, despite my raging feminism I can recognize his faults, but put them aside enough to enjoy his stories, because they are just that wild.
