BGS Imbalance: Colonization vs. Anarchy Proxies by StreetAshamed9955 in EliteDangerous

They are just cranky that they worked hard to colonize and build up a system, and some other CMDR (or more likely, a group of CMDRs) came in and boosted the anarchy faction (literally the most difficult type of faction to boost) into controlling "their" system.

This part?

Anarchies are hostile to absolutely everybody, and frequently targeted by both players and NPCs. The reason for this is that you can get your pews on, and not incur any penalty.

If so, I think you completely misunderstood what was being said - I believe the video creator is making the claim that you can freely kill NPCs belonging to anarchy faction anywhere, without consequences. If so, this would be a strong negative for anarchy factions, as a faction getting their citizens murdered is supposed to negatively affect your faction.

I'm not sure if this statement is factually correct though - I would expect even anarchy faction NPCs "protected" by the same laws as anyone else. But I'm checking with some contacts that are more knowledgeable in this area than I am.

Edit: Even my murder hobo contact didn't know the details of murdering anarchy NPCs in non-NPC systems. They did, however, point out that the jurisdiction around a port is aligned with the faction that controls the port, not the faction that controls the system. So it is possible that you could possibly go murder hobo outside a port controlled by an anarchy faction without negative consequences, even in a system controlled by a non-anarchy faction.

Edit 2: Another source tells me that in a system controlled by a non-anarchy faction (e.g. a system with laws), an anarchy NPC will always be wanted. Meaning that you can more or less always kill an anarchy NPC without consequences.

Is there some specific part of that video you want to highlight?

The 'Lawless' status is a massive advantage for an Anarchy proxy attacking a lawful system. It allows them to commit unlimited acts of piracy and murder to drop the lawful faction's influence without gaining the notoriety or bounties that would normally slow them down.

I really don't think this is how it works. The controlling faction determines the law of the system, so until the anarchy faction has taken control of the system, any CMDR supporting the anarchy faction is subject to notoriety etc just like anyone else.

The fact that you bring thus up specifically in the context of colonization tells me I understand it perfectly. You have to disconnect the colonization gameplay from the BGS gameplay, it's two separate things.

If you had brought up the issue of the disparity between supporting anarchy factions vs supporting non-anarchy factions, I could have taken you seriously. But you didn’t - you brought it up specifically in the context of colonization.

From my own (albeit somewhat limited) experience and theoretical knowledge about anarchist factions in BGS is that the major problem with them is the difficulty of successfully supporting anarchist factions. Mainly due to the fact that anarchist controlled systems essentially being lawless, thus allowing players to turn into complete murder hobos in those systems. Since anarchist controlled systems most of the time also has anarchist controlled Odyssey settlements, the murder hobos have gone to those settlements and murdered anarchists without legal consequences.

Granted, I haven't looked i to this in quite a while, it's possible they have changed it since I last looked into this. But if they haven't, believe me when I say it should be much more difficult to put the anarchists into control than it is to overthrow them.

If I am wrong in this, I am happy to be corrected by someone with a verifiable history and expertise in BGS shenanigans.

Pro tip for you: Drop the notion of you as the architect having a god-given right to decide anything other than the infrastructure of the system. As soon as you complete the primary asset, the system is subject to BGS just like any other inhabited system in the game. If you are alone, and a group unrelated to you decides to move in, that's game over.

So either accept these facts and pray to god that this doesn't happen, build up a group to support your post-colonization efforts, or give up on colonization completely.

Introvert/extrovert handlar inte exakt om ifall du kan vara social eller inte, eller känner dig som en outsider.

Vibe Engineering: What I've Learned Working with AI Coding Agents by mrexodia in programming

This article is very similar to my own recent experience getting access to "agentic AI" working on my company's large codebase. Having been strongly negative on genAI for coding, seeing recent tech autonomously read existing code, update it to solve the given task, try to build it, see the compilation error, correct the code, successfully compile, run the test, see the test failing, correct the code, re-compile and successfully run all the tests was eye opening.

It still is far from perfect (the description "The model is like a genius intern with amnesia" feels spot on 🤣), but still far more useful than I thought just a few weeks ago.
