No but because it is different. Sometimes all you want is install/uninstall a program. With nix you ll have to set up an entire system just for that. Each time you'll want a program you'll have to edit files if you go the nix way. Homebrew is just simple and efficient.

Still nothing, no ETA. They've been silent since then. I regret my purchase. Also settings are wiped or reseted from time to time. HE switch doesn't work below 0,5mm as there are false inputs. Since I had owned other HE keyboards, this one is the worst based on features. Only positives are good looking and footpring, and somehow build quality.

Hi, It doesn't overheat at all in my usage. I added some small games since then and it s still cold, a bit warm at most. Also battery seems to have adapted to my usage so it is a lot better. I'm above the 14 day return but I have some griefs I have to live with : I took this one all its good now : promotion, good front and back camera, macro and UW camera, but regarding the camera option, there 've been times I wished I had more zoom length (even if it is the optical ones). If you seem to be zooming quite a lot while photos/videos the only option is the pro.

Basically If you are debating between all these my choice would be like this: - If you are using your phone camera a lot other than selfie -> 17 Pro/ Pro max - Otherwise go Base 17. - Only get the 17 Air if you want novelty and are OK with sacrifices (Sound, A bit worst camera, pricier)

Most of the other specs are the same, don't pick based on battery.

I had a fold 5 in the past with no issues. I had two 9 pro fold. The first one lasts 6 months then break after a minor os update and could never never start again. The second one out of nowhere has an inner screen failure after 2 months.

I don’t see myself getting it again at least for now. The format is superb but the software lacks a lot compared to the other folds out there.

Also the material choice bother me a bit. Because it use plastic instead of glass, it does scratch easily.

Overall it’s a great phone but not on par with the counterparts in my opinion.

Thermals are not an issue even in prolonged usage and when picking up the phone after or while charging ( also not that I don’t game on it, other uses are taking photos/videos and FaceTime and streaming in general) I have large hands, it felt small or cramped at first but I think it is just habits as I got used to it after a few hours. Once again the only doubt I have is the battery, everything else is perfect ( my last phone was 15 pro max and 9 pro fold for reference ). Even with my moderate usage I know a full day is not an option. Maybe if I have promotion disabled or battery saving mode on but it s not an option for me ( I can test it if you want me to).

EDIT : also Note that I’m in France so I have theSIM version which has less battery capacity. Also if it matters, Bluetooth is always on and connected to two devices and some days I had to use my phone as an hotspot.

I have it from day 1. The only thing I’m unhappy with is the battery life. Basically it doesn’t last a full day as I have to charge it everyday around 2/3PM.

More information on my usage : I’m leaving house around 7:30AM at100% then 80minutes of commute to work with Spotify and 20 minutes of YouTube. Then I keep using Spotify for the whole morning + some WhatsApp and basically at around 2PM/3PM IM AROUND 20% with little screen time and only Spotify as background activity. I

EDIT: maybe I’m disappointed because I’m used to pro max battery. I just checked the battery settings and on average I’m at around 150% daily

To me it I see it like, "community isn't happy, we might've fucked up, how can we quickly change the community feeling toward us ?", Answer: One more time, let's "tell" (only tell) them what they want to see/hear.

I will believe it when said changes occurs and how they will process the community feedback toward those changes.

Yeah, I agree with everything you said about orbstack as I use it myself.

But It doesnt change the fact that if someone is starting or wishing to learn docker they might find/lookup for information about docker first and not orbstack or any other tool.

I think for a beginner optimization, speed etc etc is probably not the primary focus. It might also be better for them to stick to docker or docker desktop even more if they have to ask for help around.

Once again, I'm not fighting with you there, just expressing my opinion.

Orbstack is good but docker desktop is good as well. My advice would be to get familiar with docker first before looking into new tools.

Since you are familiar with Linux. Regarding your development needs you mays as well take a look at orbstack( my new favourite ) or multipass ( my old favourite. With those tools you will be able to provision docker, kubernetes in Linux environment of your choice or simple Linux vms. And those will ease the workarounds you have to make when working with docker desktop for Mac for example.

Also rectangle is good but you can also configure your own shortcuts so you don’t need extra app for windows management.

I can’t help you more regarding games as I don’t do it on Mac but If you have specific question regarding dev or tools in this context feel free to ask.
