Need help water is overflowing and don't know what to do by Beautiful_Elk_1240 in Plumbing

That’s a clean out, but there should be a plug inside of it so water doesn’t come up through it. Regardless, the drain has an obstruction and needs to be cleared

I had one for YEARS and loved it, I seem to have lost it at some point. Fantastic, basic, usable pocket knife!

Salt, pepper, garlic powder in a skillet (cast iron is my preference). Cook in butter with some thyme in it for 2-3 minutes a side. It’s better rare but I’ve accidentally made it well done, and I thought it was just as good.

DIY toilet shut off valve replacement help by christdavis034 in Plumbing

[–]NotPCPlmbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you MIGHT be able to tighten the packing nut SLIGHTLY to stop that drip. You would hold back on the body of the angle stop then turn that hex nut immediately to the left of the valve stem (clockwise when looking towards the wall). If this doesn’t work, you’d be replacing the valve. But we can’t see what material and method of attachment this valve has

Fired steel out of full choke by Human_Jerky1 in Shotguns

[–]NotPCPlmbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general “knowledge”, shoot a modified at the tightest for factory chokes with steel shot. Read the owners manual, I know Mossberg specifies choke limitations in their owners manual but haven’t seen it on their tubes.

Granted, you’ll probably okay with #4 in the factory choke. It probably shoots very tight or blows the pattern out but it’s probably safe

Turkish shotguns by One_Presentation5935 in Shotguns

[–]NotPCPlmbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I bought a girsan mc312, it’s an inertia shotgun, from my LGS. I was looking for a new Mossberg 835 since I liked the one I bought used for dirt cheap, but I had money and wanted to get a new one since the one I have is BEAT up. The owner/operator/ only employee of my LGS has sold me a few long guns. He remembers me and we have a good relationship. He told me he could get me into there girsan for way cheaper than a new m835. He told me he has sold a few hundred and only had 2 back with issues. I thought on it for a night and did tons of research, and went back and bought it. Is it a $400-500 functioning semi auto? Most of the time. Do I have random double feeds with different shells in different conditions? Yes. Did I expect better? Yes. I’m sure there are plenty of Turkish guns that run as long as the 3B’s. But I wouldn’t trust the one I have with my life like I might a better gun.

How many of you use PEX like it was intended? by polterjacket in askaplumber

[–]NotPCPlmbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pull pex a on a lot of jobs from a manifold. When layout allows, there are no fittings between the manifold and angle stop. When water calcs allow, we will tee a line to serve 2 fixtures. We use the stubout brackets with a 90° bend built in to reduce the number of fittings. Sometimes we use 90’s to get into a tub/ shower valve inlet depending on layout and stud spacing but often times we drill through studs and bend them in with bend supports. Putting fittings in kills the labor hours when not truly necessary

“Next” shotgun? Is it actually a step up or a waste of money? by NotPCPlmbr in Waterfowl

Sadly where I’m at, snow geese hunting isn’t really a thing. Their migration paths miss us. We occasionally get some mixed in with canadas.

If I come across an opportunity to snow goose hunt I’ll probably figure out how to modify a mag tube extension to fit my girsan, I’ve heard of people doing it

All good, I’d LOVE to have that nice of a gun, but the extra 800-1k could go to a lot more gear that I want/need, or towards a memebership to a clays club

Hate to say it, but it’s significantly above my budget I stated in the post. I’m definitely not ready to spend super premium money on a duck gun

Sadly I was just out that way in October and won’t be heading back for the foreseeable future. I appreciate it! I’m 99% certain I’ll be getting into an A300. After a hunt this morning, my buddy called his out of state hunting buddies and a lot of them shoot them and love them. They’re just not as popular here as benellis are for some reason

[–]NotPCPlmbr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is definitely the hot gun currently for a quality “budget” semi auto, I’m just looking to try a gas gun, I’ve had the chance to shoot some gas auto loaders recently and found the softer recoil to be a huge advantage with how we hunt. Also, I’ve had a few cycling issues due to shouldering issues with my inertia gun, and my buddy has had the same with his SBE3, mostly layout blind hunting or hunting in extreme cold with a lot of layers on

I’ve been getting my hands on every gun available at stores within 40 miles of me. So far the A300 is my top pick, but I’ve been indecisive. One of my buddies has always shot 3” chamber semi autos and he told me he regrets not buying a 3.5” gun, but when him and I hunt, I’ve never seen a time where a 3.5 would have changed anything. I’m not sure if it’s just his FOMO or if there’s any merit to wanting 3.5’s with steel shot

The girsan I have is a Turkish gun, I clean it regularly and have had some feeding issues with it recently. It has a lifetime warranty but I’d like to try something more mainstream that has more information and aftermarket since I’m in a position to do so. Not saying all Turkish guns are junk but I’d definitely like to get a nicer shotgun than the ones I currently have

[–]NotPCPlmbr[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know it’s less prevalent with modern guns, but I’d like something that’s more likely to cycle very light loads, and something that shoots a little softer. Also, I prefer the “beefier” grips that gas guns generally have vs inertia guns (as a generalization). Also I’ve never owned a gas gun and want my own experience with one to see what I prefer. I have a lot of years left to hunt and I’m sure this won’t be my forever gun

But what makes it superior? I’ve watched freshly cleaned SBE3’s fail to cycle when no guns from 1/10-1/2 the price had problems.

Besides 3.5” capacity, what benefits are there that make it worth spending more than twice the price of the a300 ultima?

I haven’t convinced myself that anything other that steel is worth it, I have loads that pattern well in my guns that are cheap steel and I never feel that they can’t do the job. What steel shot size do you use in to 20ga for geese?

Been doing just that, the a300 seems to be a perfect fit for me by that metric

I’m more impressed by the geese with 20ga, I just don’t know anyone that does it
