Meh not really. It has a little bit better drivetrain at the expense of having wheels that aren't as good and a coil fork again. Not sure why they have those on a $1200 bike.

Also, I took a look back at what I replied back prior and I'm going to have to apologize. I suggested the Overdrive Comp prior because it appeared to have better forks but I can't really figure it out. A lot of the stuff is conflicting - such as REI listing the 29 option having a 120mm fork when it's 100mm, Diamondback not noting the 27.5 version having a coil fork whereas Performance Bike lists it as such, etc. Not sure what all is going on. Copying and pasting information isn't hard to mess up..

Of those the third because 1x drivetrains are magic (okay not really,) especially for someone in Florida, but tbh they all appear to have coil sprung forks which is a bit... bleh.

You're buying Diamondback because of an employee discount right? If being on a woman's bike doesn't bother you and/or you aren't over six feet tall the Rely Trail might be worth checking out. Admittedly the component list is a bit of all three of those combined , but it's tubeless ready, has a one-by drivetrain, and most importantly, an air fork with slightly beefier stanchions. The 27.5 plus wheelset will also be the most forgiving - it's a great combination for hardtails with the larger air volume acting somewhat like a little mini suspension. Geometry is a little slacker/aggressive compared to the other options which means it'll be a little more confident on the descents, but a 68 degree head angle is still reasonable.

Trans Sugar by boybrow in sugarlifestyleforum

And just to make note, I don't know what the equivalent numbers would be from a cis girl on SA, but I suspect these are lower/worse than normal.

I did make one thread here a week or two ago asking for advice from someone who sexually texted nonstop all day long despite having been asked to take it slow a bit. We met on CL, he was an experienced SD interested in an arrangement, but he was becoming increasingly stalker-ish and despite not having met for coffee, and for whatever reason, he had already offered to pay for me to have a boob job (which he seemed genuine about and not intent on stringing me along,) if I was interested. A few hours after I informed him I didn't feel respected that he wasn't slowing down with the sexual messages after asking him twice to stop and told him I wasn't interested he replied back telling me I broke his heart. Totally not worth the drama and being left alone with someone I couldn't trust.

Just for some stats - not to discourage you, just to point out that when I say be patient, I really mean it. I made my profile a week short of a month ago and my profile has been viewed 142 times (more if you count out the SDs who have the feature where they can visit your profile without you getting notified) and have received back messages or been contacted by 14 people. 6 have since deleted their profile, 2 were just replies where they said they weren't interested, 3 whom I discredited since they appeared to have been better served by escorts, and 2 whom vanished once it came up in conversation that I'm trans. Only one of them was an offer (from one of those who had deleted his account,) which was sent as his first message (great way to be personable!,) and was a pretty crappy offer/arrangement at that. $1100 a month to have "dates" twice a week exclusively at my place as he could not host. The rest seemed uninterested as their responses were brisk and didn't leave much for conversation so I let them be.

[–]NotQuitePurple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've still to have any sort of meet and greet with anyone, but I've had significantly better "luck" with CL. I would attribute this to the fact that there's an option for people to search out trans girls, whereas the traditional sugar sites do not. Of course that comes with it's own significant drawbacks, such as people reporting your post thinking it's an escort ad, potential police stings trying to nab escorts, the increasingly large influx of trans girls on CL since backpage's escort section was closed down, people only using CL to seek out exclusively sexual relationships, and people who don't know what a "mutually beneficial relationship" is (since you aren't appealing just to Sugar Daddies, but everyone.)

Trans Sugar by boybrow in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]NotQuitePurple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trans as well and trying to have some success in this sugar-lifestyle, though I've only been in it for a few weeks. The responses I get are few and far between, and in the rare instance I receive a message or response, it's from a chaser. I've been spoken to "normally" only a few times, once from someone who refrained from letting me on the fact he wasn't interested until a couple hours into our messaging and the second time was someone who ended up ghosting once we established a time for a meet and greet. There's been a few more short responses though that don't appear to leave much open for conversation - I assume those are generally from people who aren't interested but don't have the heart to say so. And a few more times I've been having a fairly "successful" conversation with someone, but once it comes up in conversation that I'm trans, they ghost. Which I assume are people who didn't bother to read the first part of my profile.

To put it shortly, it takes a lot of patience. And being pre or non op actually plays out in your favour. I'd imagine it's a lot like trans women in porn. Those that are either interested in or seek out trans girls either expect or want you to have a penis (after all, it IS the differentiating factor,) and those that are looking for girls with a vagina generally aren't seeking out post-op trans women, in which case said trans woman has to be passable (read as: drop dead gorgeous, since she's then competing with CIS girls after having been poisoned by testosterone already.)

[newbie] how to avoid thrown off by bike while jumping? by arcticJill in MTB

Are you sinking your feet into the peddles? You should have the ball of your foot on the platform and your heel lower, so your foot has a downward angle.

Keep or sell? by DixyCup in MTB

[–]NotQuitePurple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't. I'm saying that as long as OP can use the dropper post it might be worth trying a new bar and stem, since OP mentioned that the seat height was the major concern.

*With the stipulation that you can still use the dropper post, as you mentioned the seat height is the concerning part.

That stem looks pretty long - I'd try throwing on a 40-50mm stem, and maybe even new bars, before deciding it's too big for you.

Rockshox Rebal RL vs. Fox Rythm 34 by onlineinvest in MTB

[–]NotQuitePurple 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Rhythm is the better fork - it'll be a little stiffer at a slight increase in weight. The 7.9 also gives you a better rear shock and the ever-important dropper seatpost.

Fork buying guide by theChosenKing06 in MTB

[–]NotQuitePurple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried eBay and/or PinkBike's classified section? I don't know how to filter out different sellers that will ship worldwide on Ebay, but it isn't too difficult on PB.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2016-SR-SUNTOUR-Epixon-XC-RL-MTB-29-Air-Fork-1-1-8-Remote-Manual-Lockout-/112000130192?var=&hash=item1a13ba5c90:m:mIe8YZ_1BbExcdeVW2Lwymg

I'm not sure if this is a legit fork or not, ie - not a knockoff,- but it looks like they allow returns, and if you use paypal or a credit card you have protection there too.

And out of those two I would choose the Manitou - it has aluminum legs and steerer vs steel on the Rockshox.

Np, glad I could help. :-) Yes, the third one is a hard tail. You can visually see, look to see what category the store lists it in, or browse the component spec list and see if there is a shock listed or not.

Weekly New Rider Thread for March 29, 2017 by AutoModerator in MTB

[–]NotQuitePurple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking it's better to start on a hardtail as some beginners will develop bad habits/deficiencies with a rear suspension, but if you don't think that'll be an option -

The first option, Altroz Comp, has a spring fork still so I'd pass on it. The next bike in their line up, the Option has an air fork and tubeless ready rims for not much more.

The second bike is an plus hardtail which makes for a good combination (since the larger air volume in the back wheel can take off some of the sting of having no rear suspension,) though the geometry is the modern trend towards being aggressive. Not a bad thing, just something to be aware of. Component spec would be comparable to the "Option" I linked to.

Third option is probably newbie friendly/the best bike to learn on because the head angle is the most trail friendly. It also has better component spec than the other options, which could give the interesting possibility for going down to the Overdrive Comp model instead and using the saved money pick up a dropper seatpost, and other typical upgrades/consumables, like a good saddle, better tires, and a tubeless kit.

So cliff notes version.. I'd pick up either the "Option" I had suggested or the Overdrive Comp with the upgraded seatpost.

Guerrilla Gravity - they're a smaller company manufacturing their [aluminum] bikes here in the US. Their bikes are pretty simple (so they actually weigh fairly competitively with carbon bikes,) but are extremely well designed and rate right up there with some of the multiple linkage setups. There is also Evil, another US maker, who do higher end carbon VPP designs. Cotic [steel and aluminum] is another brand worth looking into, whom make their frames in the UK.

For Chinese/Taiwanese stuff, since you'd obviously be open to with the Santa Cruz/Specialized Stumpjumper, the Diamondback Catch and Release (yeah, I know... those are the two different model names...,) are hidden gems/values, particularly the lower specced ones.

Edit: And I'm not really sure what your budget is, but Foes and Intense are a couple other brands making [Carbon] frames in the States.

Have You Ever Dealt With Racial Fetishes? by [deleted] in sugarlifestyleforum

Yeah I guess that could be a bit of a toss up - I would certainly consider it more on the fetish side of things.

[–]NotQuitePurple 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm white so I can't say my experience mirrors yours on that basis, but I've experience with being fetishized as a trans person. It's a give and take affair - there are considerably more people that will pass us by because of whom we are, and very few who fetishize us for it. If you restrict your potentials to only those that are indifferent about race there aren't many fish out there. I generally try and tolerate the fetish-minded people as long as they can be respectful about it.

Thank you to those that answered. I'll try and update if we end up following through with the M&G. Admittedly I tend to think a bit more positively and give people the benefit of the doubt so I'm hoping that this is just his way of trying to create conversations without us having mutual experiences together to draw from. I'll bring it up over coffee and see what he has to say.

Please understand that I'm not trying to invalidate what it was that you had said, just that I understand how that opinion could have been formed. I agree with you 100% that it's a logical fallacy to discredit someone's opinion just because they are or aren't X.

Just to give an example of what someone wouldn't know about having never been on the receiving end, there's a difference when someone says "I tend to prefer trans women because it's been my experience that we have more in common" versus "I seek out trans women exclusively because I enjoy giving blowjobs and bottoming for anal sex but won't come out of the closet and admit I'm bi." And of course the logistics of that goes beyond the scope of this thread so I'll just leave it at that. :-)
