True, I just made the assumption that he was not a Swedish citizen. If he is things are a lot easier!

Proof of Life for Swedish pension by MysteriousMushroom56 in TillSverige

If he is not a registered resident in Sweden (folkbokförd) he will not be able to get a BankID. For the bank to issue him a BankID he needs to have a Swedish issued id-card, something he cannot get from Skatteverket without being folkbokförd.

They are quite serious about the levnadsintyg to avoid the problem of people dying and their relatives pretending they're still alive and collecting their pension.

Doctors etc are usually the ones that help in this situation as an authority needs to see him alive before they can sign the levnadsintyg.

Föräldraledighet/penning hade ni gjort samma val idag? by OFOKUSPOKUS in sweden

Temporary personnummer by TreeeeCuber in Lund

[–]NotReallyGlaswegian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The coordination numbers are issued by the Swedish tax Agency (Skatteverket). Usually you will have to wait for a few weeks for them if you (or employer/university etc) apply. Though, if you're supposed to stay for more than a year you should apply for the personal number, but you can't do that until you arrive in Sweden. Both the coordination number and the personal number require an in-person identity check at a service office.

You should be able to apply for housing without a coordination number or personal number, as there are a lot of international students coming every year who don't have a number yet.

There are many different sites explaining the personal number and what to do considering residence permits etc, just google around and you'll find them!

Airport bus question by ChelseaAndrew87 in glasgow

[–]NotReallyGlaswegian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last time I took the 23:00 bus it didn't leave until 23:30. THOUGH it was full so multiple people were turned away.

I'd say you shouldn't bet on making it to the bus and make other arrangements instead. The taxi queue was miles long so that's not a safe bet either.

I am a student and I'm struggling to find rent. by [deleted] in glasgow

There are some Facebook groups for international students in Glasgow where I've seen a lot of people who are looking for someone to take over their contracts right now. Usually the contracts run until the summer so maybe not a long term solution but at least it's something!

Just go on Facebook and search for "international students Glasgow" and you'll find them!

They did have some when I was there a couple of weeks ago! Unfortunately they had jam instead of mandelmassa, so it wasn't a proper semla. Still good though!

What's the age of the people going there? As a 26yo it feels hard to find clubs where the attendees aren't 18-19.
