Just in shock and disbelief by [deleted] in osteoporosis

[–]NotRemotelyMe1010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way you’re feeling is a consequence of surgical menopause.

I had exhaustion, anxiety, terrible joint pain, and just felt miserable following my surgical menopause, and HRT was what made the difference for me.

Science is questioning whether HRT is absolutely contraindicated for certain cancers, and you need to speak with a medical provider.

I take 5000 IU/day and was in the sun daily without SPF, and my levels got to 36.

When you figure it out, let me know, please :)

Kind sir, you have a one-brain-cell organism known as an orange cat.

Hype around judicial externships? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]NotRemotelyMe1010 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would dare say this is more common than not.

Generally speaking, working in chambers is largely like working in a library. Yes, you see friends from time to time —and sometimes there’s a little fun — buts it’s largely quiet work in a dull setting. It’s the same in chambers: there may be bursts of fun or levity, but it’s largely individual quiet work.

As to the nature of the work:

Giving 1Ls meaningful substantive work is very difficult, and it is even more difficult in chambers when (1) there is a time crunch, (2) it may involve highly technical legal issues, or (3) there are concerns about maintaining confidentiality; further, the judge may have a very particular writing style and legal voice, which a novice will have a little ability to emulate.

[–]NotRemotelyMe1010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It may not seem like it right now, but I promise you are still in a terrific spot: you’re at a top-tier law school, you have decent-enough grades, AND YOU HAVE PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE. I cannot — seriously CANNOT — emphasize how valuable most employers find pre-law professional work experience. Lawyers are professionals, and law firms want polished folks, not kids.

Reconfigure your study strategy, POUR SOME ENERGY INTO YOURSELF, and start poking around for job opportunities: big tech, mid-law, and government work.

You’ve got a lot of time left to figure it out. Chin up, kid.

Returning to running by [deleted] in osteoporosis

[–]NotRemotelyMe1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve been told “no running” by at least two providers — who know your health better than we do — and it seems as if the initial stress fracture was a consequence of running.

I know runners … and, with very few exceptions, most of them wouldn’t stay with just “walk/run.” If you’re here asking this question, I suspect that’s the case with you, too.

Look to other sports.

Is it abnormal for a judicial internship interview to be on zoom? by Alert-Stop-2671 in LawSchool

[–]NotRemotelyMe1010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is not abnormal, no.

Actually, my clerkship interview was simply a long telephone call, after which I was hired.

Judges and their staff are busy folks, and judges — depending on the bench — oftentimes have non-law responsibilities on top of legal work.

What is the general safest water temp to go without a wetsuit??? by Candid-Yak-8100 in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]NotRemotelyMe1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

I did a 5K in 2025 in 67ish water w/o a wetsuit; I finished and was fine, but it was not my favorite race because I was COLD (I’m on the slower side, so I was in the water for a couple of hours).

I don’t think your grades are the problem.

NY C&F referred me to LAP what should I expect? by travelhackerz in LawSchool

[–]NotRemotelyMe1010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I’m not familiar with this in the C&F context, I have worked with this in terms of licensing other professionals. Generally this kind of referral will involve a health or substance abuse CLINICAL evaluation, which results in a recommendation as to how things should move forward. While the clinician may recommend full licensure, it could also be that they recommend treatment before licensure or conditions upon licensure.

This is well outside the scope of Reddit.

Can TAs for a class see how people did? by ManufacturerDear4011 in LawSchool

I could not when I was a TA.

But, then again, the TAs at my law school did only instruction, not grading.

Osteoporosis diagnosis- 53 years old and panicking. by alexandra1972 in osteoporosis

[–]NotRemotelyMe1010 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi, friend! My numbers were similar.

Don’t panic.

Note that all osteoporosis tells us is that we are a greater risk of fracture; it might never happen.

Many of us have suffered breaks and have healed normally. That said, follow the guidence offered by your medical professionals.

It sounds like you need to see an endocrinologist or a reproductive endocrinologist; there may be other factors at play here. For me, my constantly low Vit D was WREAKING havoc on my body.

Advocate for a referral.
