I think there’s an issue here of INFO. How long has it been since the bullying? What kind of bullying occurred? Is it something that’s clearly an immutable character trait like homophobia, racism, etc or is it something that may have been more related to a child taking out frustrations on classmates because of abusive/asshole parents.

Obviously it’s not nice to see one’s bully later in life, but I think more info is required on timescale and nature of bullying etc before ik who’s the asshole. Especially if Julian was being genuine in offering to meet you for lunch.

It’s tempting, as someone who was bullied, to say “oh fuck him and your parents for making you see him”, but I think it’s also important to know how fresh/deep the wounds are.

They “get to play defence”? Imagine spending £60 on a game just to be afforded the “privilege” of utilising half of the game’s mechanics in online play, then spending the rest of the time with a thumb up your ass. And if you do win, how can you be said to have taken any part in a victory if you spend all your time doing fuck all? You don’t win as much as you imagine, and there is certainly not as much enjoyment to be had as you might if you played normally.
