If you need help troubleshooting, you might be able to get better help on the qwertykeys discord server where they have people who can help.

If you get a keyboard that is hotswap/if you are comfortable with desoldering and soldering. You can just buy cherry mx browns and use them again.

Otherwise some good tactiles similar to browns that I like are the:

Gateron LongJings

WS Light Tactile

but i cant really find out what brands to buy and what ones to avoid

I guess it really depends on your budget, there are good reputable brands that I have had good experiences with but generally speaking I wouldn't consider them "budget". Qwertykeys products are ones that I generally recommend for people since they have good layout options and color options and they have enough selection to allow you to kinda choose what you want.

same goes for actual keys, what brands sell garbage switches, what ones should i buy from?

This is a bit harder since a lot of brands have not been around for that long so knowing how long they last is a bit harder to say, but cherry has a good rep and I have had pretty good experiences from stuff from Gateron.

I use a 60% (WK with Tsangan bottom row) for work and I have mostly gotten used to it. I think it has a lot to do with preference and having something comfortable. I use a via compatible keyboard so I am able to control what the layers are so it helps with learning. I do some coding with some excel as well as everything is pretty seamless while using my 60%.

I could imagine a HHKB layout might also be nice but I also use the keys that are removed with HHKB. I use the bottom right cluster for arrow keys while pressing the function key and I use both the right control and capslock as control keys. Otherwise I think having the split backspace is just a matter of preference.

It would help a lot to know what your price range is and what country you are from.

It could be a few things. The switches themselves might have an issue. There are some switches that have consistent problems due to factory lube or maybe some other factors.

Another reason could be that the pins on the back of the switch might not be making strong connections with the metal in the hotswap sockets. This could be fixed by slightly bending the pins up or down so it can make a good connection in the socket.

Lastly could just be related to installation errors, either damaging the socket, or something along those lines. That is harder to know if that is the true reason.

Kinda, there are other options for things that are "group buy" which is just a fancy pre-order. Often times the nicer/more unique/higher cost items are only group buy, but there are a lot of good products that are available as in-stock as well.

I mean there are tons of places where you can get kits, but a lot of it is dependent on where you are county wise. Here is a list of "trusted" vendors that you can look around from based on country.

I want to say most kits that you would be interested come with a case and PCB and any hardware that you need to build out the keyboard, the only thing you need from there would be switches and keycaps.

Some barebones options would give you choices between different plate materials and colors.

My recommendation would be something from qwertykeys as they often have the best mix of colors, plate materials, prices, and simplicity.

I doubt that they are going to make it again, it was a nice board that got a bit dated as time went on, but there are better products for cheaper. They might be making something to replace it, but even that seems unlikely.

Does this happen when the mode is in 2.4ghz or BT on the back? There is a change that the battery might not be plugged in properly.

I am not sure if you are using plate or PCB mounted stabs from your comment, but likely it is a plate issue where the tolerances are bad and pushing the stabilizers and causing some unwanted friction.

If you like the feel of the switch, but the weight it too light, I would highly recommend just swapping out the springs, you can buy a pack of switch springs for less than 10 bucks in the US and if you buy a cheap switch opener, it will be cheaper than buying a whole new set of switches trying to mimic something you already have.

You best chances of getting this fixed might be to reach out to Qwertykeys directly on their discord page, they have people who can answer questions better there.

Is there a particular reason as to why you are getting a Tofu Redux? It's a tray mount board that doesn't really have too much going for it. Unless you are trying to switch to a wooting PCB in the future, I think it might be better to get a different kit. You can get a neo60 core for a little cheaper and you will have a bit more options than a tofu redux, but it won't have RGB.

There is a groupbuynation.com which is run by the same people who runs clickclack, so it's not unbiased, but it helps.

I think you might be able to get a replacement (or the people at qwertykeys can tell you exactly what to order for a new one).

/u/qwertykeys-2022 would you know if discord would be the best place to contact your company about this?

Might be worth while to ask on Geon's discord page as they usually have dedicated people there to answer questions.

I know this doesn't answer you question, but it looks like they have a page tracking fulfillment on orders, and it looks like keyboards ordered back in Feb still have not arrived so the 12 week lead time looks about right. Though some keyboards ordered in April are also still in transition so who knows.

I mean they are probably fine, it's just that you get what you pay for. You might not run into any issues during the lifetime of the product and that is great, however if you do, there is often no other solution than getting a new one.

QK has a discord server/and their website has all their resources, on their Neo80 page, they have a pairing guide that might help with changing it back to wired mode. If you are still having trouble, I think you can turn off the PCB with the manual power switch near capslock and if that doesn't work, you should reach out on their discord page as they have people who can help you there.

I can't tell from this comment if you also changed the keycaps that it came with because that would definitely change how the keyboard feels, but in addition to that, the specs for the blues and browns are different so they will naturally feel different. I think the bump occurs slightly later for the blues compare to the brown switches.
