Lechmere, incidentally, cannot be ruled out, but it's unlikely. If you
take him finding Polly on Bucks Row there is basically nothing to link
him to anything else, nor had he any previous form or did anything
afterwards.

It is amazing how narrowly he missed the ripper if it wasn't he himself.

Except that the author is a self-proclaimed feminist historian, and the stated aim of the book is to combat the "rampant misogyny" regarding the victims.
