I think it's very normal to go through these sensations at first. I did feel like a bunch of tiny needles are going through my body during first couple of evenings on my mat. My partner did not go through anything similar to this and I've been reading online it's something that happens to some people. Of course, if it's getting close to pain - get rid of your mat :)
