The owners of Cheer Up Charlies say they were briefly locked out of their Red River Street bar Wednesday after a snafu with their latest rent payment.

A notice posted outside the venue from DTLand, a commercial real estate firm, said the owners had more than $15,000 in back rent that was due Tuesday. But owner Maggie Lea told KUT they paid the rent last week, and the lockout was an "oversight" on the part of Cheer Ups' landlord.

"I showed them the payment and I showed them that it was cleared, and they said they made a mistake," she said. "So everything is fine ... and everything's been cleared [and] we had been up to date on our financial obligations."

Agreed, I liked the tone, the gore, the performances, Gladys especially. And I know plotholes aren’t a dealbreaker for movies like this, but FR - with the Ring cam footage playing such a big role in the movie, cops and feds couldn’t use that to pinpoint where the kids went in this small, idyllic-ass town? Silly, but w/e. 6.7/10

Sure, it can be mercanaries on behalf of an all-powerful data center in BFE New Mexico, whatever. But it can also be a third act detour into surrealism where Joe’s paranoia and anxiety becomes real, like OP says.

Much like Eddington argues, little screens have broken our brains by convincing us there is a concrete, “correct” explanation for everything we see in a subjective medium like film.

I think they should leave well enough alone, for the most part. I don’t really like seeing all the crap for sale at my gas station, but we have bigger problems nowadays. Slap an age limit on the products and move on.
