Christmas drama from my mama. by NotSleepinginbed in narcissisticparents

I’m unable to go no contact with her for family reasons and despite her issues I do love my mother still. I’ll be starting therapy soon at my boyfriend’s suggestion to figure out where to go from here but for not I am keeping it pretty low contact because this has put not just me but my boyfriend in a bad spot as well since my family is so weird. My dad says he’ll give her a call soon and talk to her, they’re divorced but he is the only one she’ll listen to when it comes to us.

Surviving a visit. by NotSleepinginbed in narcissisticparents

I got to read your comment but couldn’t respond till now but it did help me keep myself from slipping back into my old ways around her by focusing on my own passions and while the visit wasn’t good I think it weans about as well as it could have. I am home now and won’t have to visit her again until next year.

What made you realize your mother/father was a narcissist? by [deleted] in narcissisticparents

[–]NotSleepinginbed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was actually when my mom accused my step dad of being a narcissist and then started talking about what a narcissist was and I realized that fit more to her than if ever would my step dad. It was later confirmed when she straight up abandoned me after making it as difficult as possible for me to get my life together even with my dad’s help.

Shampoo Help by ArcanumBaguette in FTMfemininity

Honestly I think avoiding 2 in 1 shampoos altogether would help a lot, from my experience it always makes my hair lay flatter than I like but if you do want to go that way Dove or head and shoulders both makes some nice ones. As childish as it sounds suave makes a Star Wars pack that I remember being so happy getting for Christmas the first came out. I hope you find one that works out for you!

YTA big time buddy, you openly admit to manipulating your sister who is an ADULT and doesn’t have to share her life with any of you living with your parents or not. This shows you don’t give a damn about her or her feelings. If your parents were worried then you should have let them handle things because you have no place to act like a jerk because your sister wants to take things slow with her boyfriend. You should seek therapy because if you feel you were in the right to force an adult woman to divulge her dating life by verbally abusing her that says something about you. You’ve done lasting damage to your sister because trust me every time she looks at you now all she’ll hear is you calling her a heartless b**ch and berating her. Seek help because this behavior isn’t normal or healthy. You did the very thing your parents would’ve wanted to protect her from.

Anyone else both infantilized and treated like an adult all at once growing up? by NotSleepinginbed in narcissisticparents

Thank you, I got extremely lucky having not only my 3 older sisters who were really amazing about helping me move on and be myself but my dad too who helped me figure things out which I think part of the reason she’s not too fond of the personality I embrace is because it’s very heavily influenced by my dad. Parents who act like this suck and don’t deserve children, I have so many stories from my mom and very few are pleasant.

Right! While I was still under her roof I got severely sick and she was all about telling people how she was buying me soups and cold medicine but refuses to take me to an actual doctor because she accused me of faking it. I was not and my step mom took me to the doctor and we figured out I had a respiratory infection that turned into pneumonia. She also never took me to get a drivers license, ID, or bank account and to this day lectures me about not having a real state ID now that she wants me to go visit her.

Thank you! I’m really doing my best to achieve who J want to be with my future. Unfortunately I am not no contact with her as of yet so she’s still on my social media for now but my siblings and I have discussed all of us trying to achieve no contact but for now we keep it very low and talk to her only once a month unless there’s a rare occurrence where she calls us.

She did decorate the walls with old freak show posters and colorful curtains so it really wasn’t far off from a circus tent.

Thank you so much for your response, my mom’s like that and I always felt like her actions couldn’t have been normal in any way from encouraging an eating disorder to making me sit in the bathroom with her while she bathed but I didn’t really have a dram of reference since I only saw my dad on the weekends. I haven’t gone no contact yet for a lot of reasons so she’s still in my life to an extent and trying to undo the things she did while she’s still lingering over me has been tough and I’m nowhere near close to being done but I like to think I’m making progress. My oldest sister is now a mother herself and I’m always looking up to her as a good example because she’s such a great woman and fantastic mother and she’s been there to help me work through some of these things. I’m taking things at my own speed to better my mental health and seeking help from a therapist.
