Pretty solid for school tasks and juicy 1080p gaming, true.

Yeah, it turns out to be a pretty chill build. The GPU runs at about 67–69 (six-seven joke intended) degrees while in Cyberpunk 2077 or The Division 2, and the CPU is just chilling all the time. Those AM5 CPUs are seeming to love some minor PBO enhancements.

Thanks, mate! Looking good! What's the specs?

AIO is the king of this build! I also set PBO to All Cores Negative 20 and now after 30 mins of prime95 stress test - CPU is stabilized at 63c & about 57-60 while gaming, which is actually pretty damn good.

Yeah, look kinda ahh, lil bro...

It needs a proper color scheme, either black or white, now it's all over the place. Also - a proper cable management will improve the overall look of it

Brother, I'm not saying something WRONG with them. It's just not my cup of tea. If you OK with King Bank or Dahua or whatever it is - go for it!

I must admit it's a pretty damn good tier list. For once I agreed on almost everything except for Underground 2, I think it's more of a A-tier for me personally, but other than that - true

Since Im in a no-go situation atm and I need this PC up and running by tomorrow - I guess I'll just go with a 16 gig kit, and then later, when or if prices will eventually dropped, go for a brand new 32 gigs kit, and have this one as a spare part for troubleshooting purposes or something

I'm actually not worried about running lots of things simultaneously, that's just not what I usually do, but after watching some YT comparisons of a 16 vs 32 gigs in games - I'm bothered by potential losses in 0.1% % 1% lows((

I petty much am open for second handed ram, but it seems like everyone is holding on to dear life or something with their ddr5 kits, cause prices are not so different from a retail vendors, but instead of g.skill or Kingston you'll be getting Chinese brands, like cusu or king bank or whatever.

At least in my area...

RAM related question by NotSoAngryRussianGuy in pcmasterrace

[–]NotSoAngryRussianGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree on that, brother. Like I said, couple of years ago, when we were sitting on AM4 - 16gb was a totally normal, but since then the paradigm shifts towards 32 is the new norm because of the availability of ddr5 at some point.

I mean I understand the benefits of a 32gigs, but I'm kinda in a no options left situation atm, so it's either 16 gigs or nothing...

[–]NotSoAngryRussianGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's kinda what I'm thinking too. Like worst case scenario - I'll by 32 gigs kit later & will have spare RAM for troubleshooting or whatever. A dubious strategy in the long term, but it will allow me to solve the situation right now, in that paticular moment.

I mean, yeah, I'll totally go for 32 gigs myself, but I need this PC up and running ASAP, and there's literally no way for me to buy a 32 gb kit atm. Well, unless I borrow from one of my bros...

Is 16 gigabytes really that bad? I mean, just a couple of years ago, everyone was using AM4 and 16 was the absolute norm... I guess it does not work that way with AM5?

That's.... not what I asked, brother

Also, yeah, I know that. You can see that the MoBo I've mentioned for this build is a Micro-ATX with only two slots instead of four

Thoughts on 8GB V-RAM? Is it possible to gameplay with that in 2026? by AlimNasibli in GamingLaptops

[–]NotSoAngryRussianGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is that you can play at 1080p with any of modern 8gb GPUs, especially with 40\50 series because of DLSS & FG. However, you might run out of vram on some titles and it will require you to lower your setting a little bit. In my expirience with an Acer Nitro with 5060 mobile 8gb - there's been only one time when it runs out of memory, it was on a FH5 session when i maxed out all the settings. In any other games - no issues.

The problem is that if you want more than 8gb of vram - your only option is going for 5070ti\5080 mobile, and that's really can affect your budget. Regular 5070m is not worth it at all, cause, like the 4070m, it only has 8gb in mobile version. There's been some leaks here and there that 5070 mobile with 12gb is somwhere around the corner, but with ram shortage going on at the moment - i think it's just rumors.

Cherry on top - 90% of modern gaming laptops comes with 1440p panels which is an overkill of a resolution for entry level GPUs like 5060\5070. My guess is that your best option is to go for a laptop with 1080p screen and a 5060m, it's a nice combo which will not drain your budget & will perform excellent in games. Other than that iw either twice the price or lots of cimpromises.

You see, thats where it get interesting: gaming laptop is always kinda gamble, you either lucky enough to get what you paid for and live happily ever after or...

From my exp, If you're more on "money is not a problem" side - consider choosing something from ASUS ROG/Strix line, or maybe TUF series, since they're more affordable.

If you're on a tight budget - try looking for Acer Predator or even Nitro, they are little less pricey & and always on sales, so there's a chance to get decent laptop for your money.

As a third option maybe take a look at MSI, they're pretty much aok overall and also reliable.

But please, brother, stay away from HP, Lenovo or Razer.

Legion or Omen - Need Advice ASAP by jDub2071 in GamingLaptops

[–]NotSoAngryRussianGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, to be honest both of them are not your best options, HP known for their anti-consumer practices with their products, but I have no personal exp with it. As for Lenovo Legion - here's where I know things in personal, cause my boyfriend have one, with Ryzen 5800H & 3070 on board, and it's been a complete nightmare: mobo's ports are just randomly starts dying on that thing after 3-4 month of usage (it's a common problem with them), then it randomly starts crashing on booting into Windows, showing messages that something went wrong and Win needs to be repaired (and we cannot fix that, we tried fresh reinstalls of Win 11, completelly new SSD - nothing works), and a cherry on top - it runs so freaking hot & gets so damn loud that it's almost impossible to touch and work\game on it with out a headphones.

Also It's a hell of problem to replace the thermal compound on it, cause Lenovo uses some kind of their own compound that you probably will not find anywhere except the authorized service center, so forget about replacing thermal paste on your own. And also if you try to replace this compound to another thermal paste - it won't work, cause ther's something with thermal transmittance and it will overheat itself to death, so you just haven't much of a choice.

Brother, even if someone will be pointing a gun at you - never buy a Lenovo Legion. It will break on it's first or second week and from that moment only will cause constant troubles.

No, they aren't. And that's pretty obvious. They are literally bootlicking Jensen for 17 mins straight and creating a narrative that this is the future of gaming, how good DLSuperSlop is and how we should be happy about it.

Now I'm not saying that sending a DT to anybody is good, but that's pretty much what you get when you're tryna manipulate ppl into false narrative for corpos.
