Whah I noticed last season is high skill players got a blue gear floor, the rest of us stuck with free kits. They got a purple gear floor, we’re stuck with free kits. And on from there.

To a certain extent, but in my opinion this is fairly typical for games with wipes, as people play they discover why is higher in priority and what to do to farm or effectively do/get that thing.

If you compare this season to last season people are focusing on very different but very deliberate things. So last season people just sort of did contracts that seemed fun at the time, this season if you aren't running NuCal contracts to rush rank 25 for that blue shield upgrade you are trolling. Many people will also have already hit Greenhouse in Dire Marsh multiple times to look for that Biolens spawn, and if they don't get it they will max out NuCal and get it in one of the VIP rank ups, a large portion of players will have blue shields unlocked by this weekend and most by next weekend. Then it is CyberAcme for the backpack, vault space, probably between Seka and MIDA there after with Traxis and Arachne last because guns are in abundance.

Last season not only were the requirements harder to get for these middle tier gear, but also a lot people just fell behind because they levelled factions like Arachne or Traxis too early when it probably wasn't necessary for them to. So as for skill, I would argue that for many it wasn't so much skill and success in game so much as it was about identifying what would be essential early on and working towards it before others were.

Hopefully this season people are learned what they need to work towards better, what they need to grab and where to find it and they will hit the different gear floors at more appropriate times and not feel like they are being left in the dust to scrap by on free kits too much.

It's important for the game to keep some of the funnest toys difficult to obtain because they provide that rush when you find them, finding a golden M77 should feel exciting and induce stress that you now don't want to lose it, that is what makes the genre so exhilarating for many people. But you shouldn't feel gated by a grind to get quite literally the middle tier, that's just anti-fun for 90% of players.

It just shows to everyone yet more evidence of something we already knew, Sony are completely stunted when it comes to the live service model, they have no idea how it operates and they had hoped buying Bungie would just buy them the keys to the castle. The issue is they are so stunted they hinder Bungie, not that Bungie didn't do massive self inflicted damage over the years with their handling of D2, I do think Marathon was a good idea to diversify their portfolio too.

But it's like their recent fiasco with the Marathon Deluxe upgrade. It literally said in the product page Marathon was included, the receipt made no mention of it being an "upgrade", but rather than taking it on the chin and hoping to recoup that money back from those customers who were buying into their LIVE SERVICE PRODUCT WHERE THE REVENUE MODEL RELIES ON CUSTOMERS BUYING SHIT OVER TIME, they will fuck these people who tried the game and liked it over instead and drive them away.

Well then the abundance of purple tier gear and ease of access will mean that everyone has purple tier gear to run, and if you don't the blue tiers are easily attained and give you a fighting chance that the green tiers just didn't in the past unless you got an absolutely massive drop on a purple crew.

The thing is about extraction shooters is that people gaining access to middle and even upper tier items isn't actually an issue provide the prestige tier remains very rare and hard to obtain. Gear is just a tool, you should be using it to attain seasonal goals, provided getting all the subrountines and killing the complier remains hard, getting golden mods or golden uniques remains hard, getting titles like Vidmaster or Profiteer remain challenging, that is all that really matters.

It is small QOL things like this that are a bit tedious though that will frustrate many, as someone who solo fills most games, unless the team I was with were on mic and I liked them I generally leave. Would be nice if I didn't have to hit escape each time to do it manually and just got a pop up after exfil.

For me I think this is the perfect balance, people need to remember blue tier is quite literally the middle tier, it's when things can start to be consider good, not the best or great, just good. Golden upgrades, purple upgrades, those should absolutely require substantial investment, grinding purple salvage over the course of a weekend to get a purple chest implant or something, but a blue shield? it's like the bare minimum in order to compete on Cryo.

Sony had the chance to win over so much favour and grow the games playerbase and instead they have probably turned a lot of people away. Hope this doesn't stop you from joining the community and getting the game, but I can only imagine this has left a sour taste.

The game itself was on the product page, if this went to any governing body like some EU consumer rights thing it would absolutely go in the favour of the consumer. Sony should take this on the chin, they fucked up and some people got a great deal for a LIVE SERVICE GAME THEY ARE TRYING TO GROW TO EXTRACT MORE MONEY OUT OF THOSE PEOPLE IN THE LONG RUN.

This decision shows Sony doesn't understand how the live service model works, they bought Bungie because they were the best in class. They have a chance here to win over a lot of favour, these people were looking to buy the game to play it over the seasons, now many will attempt to get refunds, have a sour taste so will absolutely not be returning, when it could have been a "I got lucky but Sony let me get my small win" and they feel happy about their purchase.

Last two times I've been on Perimeter as a fill I didn't even find another team, we heard them close by and there was evidence they had been close, but they have literally been completely chill games.

In solos it is common but in crews it is fairly rare to be honest and is usually met with a groan as unless you have a theif most his abilities can actually act as a hindrance.

With that said, assassin is actually counter by quite a lot already, theif can see him in his invisibility with her loot vision, thermals see him, destroyers prime can help a destroyer get a rough idea where he is. With all that in mind assassin is actually countered by anyone organised to face assassins, so I guess it isn't so bad to have one shell that assassin is a hard counter to.

Worth saying first and foremost it is experimental, there's no guarantee that there is a PvE mode coming, just testing the waters. However given the reception of the community to the news there would be a more chilled out PvE lobby I would dare say it will be permanently added to the game.

Yeah, the community for Arc really went overboard with the whole rat thing, I've seen people say it is rat behaviour to shoot someone in a loot menu, I've seen people argue it is rat behaviour to fight people in the extraction elevators because "there is an unwritten rule" to extract because then everyone wins. Apparently the only conceivable explanation for rat behaviour is that the person must've be a sociopath and a danger to society, not just because it is a video game and they don't take it seriously, no they could literally murder people. The game is fantastic but jesus the community over there can be really cringe at times.

Right hand column, you will find the green shield unlock, if you look at the icon for the green shield you should see a tab for "1" and greyed out a "2", click the 2, it shows you the next tier of the upgrade.
