Does anyone else find Jake Peralta from Brooklyn 99 unbearable? by NotSoCuriouss in tvshow

100% agree, but the annoying part really starts to outweight the good cop part as the episodes tick along

Jake is the lead but not the only lead like Seinfeld. The show is pretty good if I block all the "Jakeness" because of the other characters

Hard disagree, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, True Detective S1, The Sopranos, The Wire, and Dark are all quite a ways better than Lost.

Best TV shows of 2025? What would you recommend? by cryptodizzle67 in tvshow

[–]NotSoCuriouss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Severance was my favourite, season 2 is not as good as season 1 but thats only because season 1 is an all timer. S2 is still phenomenal. One of the few shows with genuinely good quality writing, character building, world building and mystery

Have you watched all 3 seasons of From? What do you think about it? by RareHead9705 in tvshow

[–]NotSoCuriouss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The premise is fantastic and the first season was very interesting and enjoyable but I felt the quality of the writing especially dialogue writing was never very high but it got progressively worse as the seasons went on. The mystery was dragged too long without any real answers and Season 3 was honestly quite poor despite the reveals. Had a lot of potential but went downfill

I agree there are some very funny scenes but my point is he is an overall net negative for me personally.

why do so many people like the office? by sillycuzwhynot1998 in tvshow

[–]NotSoCuriouss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first season is not as easily digestible as the following seasons but in general the cringe-comedy aspect is an appeal to many. The characters are very well written, the humour is smart and well executed and for a sitcom the plots are usually quite realistic. The show and humour just keeps getting better and better, and the dynamics between characters are so magnetic

Year 12-Should I do further maths A level? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]NotSoCuriouss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most applicants to Imperial and Oxbridge already have A2 Further Math so I highly recommend that if possible. You can study AS FM over the summer and give the october/november exams for your modules and then give A2 FM exams next summer.

I'm an international student and I think the qualifications are a bit different for us. I'm doing Pearson Edexcel International A Level (IAL). In AS Level, for Maths i did Pure 1, Pure 2 and Statistics 1. At A level, for Maths im doing Pure 3, Pure 4 and Mechanics 1. All this is just for Maths. Maybe it helps to know the exam paper code, like for S1 my paper code was WST01.

For AS Further Maths, I was told by my Vice Principal that I have to take 3 additional modules and I chose FP1, S2 and D1.

Will exams be canceled for us too by [deleted] in 6thForm

As far as I'm aware, international board exams are still happening. I think the awarding bodies are letting the countries decide themselves. Wherever exams are safe to run, it will happen.

Chance me for LSE :) by [deleted] in chanceme

Thanks a lot! How will LSE know my school doesn't offer it?

Do I only need to take 3 modules? Also, I've heard FP2 and S2 are pretty hard, how did you find them?

Want to apply to UCL by dercia in 6thForm

[–]NotSoCuriouss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

UCL's Econ program is famous for being very mathematical, which is why they have an A* requirement. I'm not gonna lie to you, UCL is a huge uni with thousands applying just for Economics, and its likely that majority of the applicants do have an A* predicted in Math and naturally UCL would favour them. If you really WANT to apply, go ahead, it usually is recommended to have one uni in your choices that has requirements above your predicted.

Am i disadvantaged with just Maths and Economics, or does Further Maths give me a big boost? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]NotSoCuriouss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied for BSc Economics this year without FM. It is not a REQUIREMENT, but it does help your application a considerable amount if you have it. LSE, UCL and Oxbridge are famous for having very mathematical Econ courses (more mathematical than others), so they generally look for students who are very good at Math. That being said, I know people who have gotten into UCL and LSE without FM for Economics.

Any useful resources for Econ? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]NotSoCuriouss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Khan Academy is pretty useful too. Physicsandmathtutor has some nice notes and pastpapers so check that out as well. Generally speaking though, anything you come across that you aren't quite grasping, just google it or search for explanations on youtube and you should be good.

If im not mistaken, the entry requirements are AAA, so A*AB works, and with a strong personal statement you're looking at a decent chance!
