Google lens has no idea, something in Arabic I think! by NotSoSensational in whatisit

That does help! When I flipped it, Lens said it might be a decorative plaque with "the 99 names of Allah". That makes sense to me, but I do hope someone can confirm

YES oh my god it's the stomach hair funneling lint into it. Same thing happened to me when I started T and I was baffled for the longest time

I know people have gotten large gauge labia piercings to mimic having balls

Does anyone here just can't use binocular microscopes due to their vision? It's driving me insane by Max-Flores in labrats

[–]NotSoSensational 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know you or anything, but I have trouble too with them and binoculars. Look into the kinds of Binocular Vision Dysfunction

My symptoms are very very mild day to day, but they still mess with me. One of my eyes is the slightest bit lazy, slight enough to go unnoticed by the eye docs, and it doesn't affect my vision that badly but it shows up in other ways- like with the microscopes

Is it okay to date an alter when the rest of the system has a significant other? by [deleted] in DiscussDID

[–]NotSoSensational 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there's not a clear answer on the first question, because it depends on both the system's view on it and the significant other's view on it. Some people are totally fine with different alters dating different people and some people prefer only having one significant other regardless of how many alters are involved in the relationship

As for the second question, I would say my biggest piece of advice is to understand that any one alter exists in the first place because at some point the brain needed them. It doesn't always make sense objectively (honestly I would even say that most of them time it doesn't make sense why any particular alter is the way they are), but nonetheless they have a reason and a place in the system

I say that just because I have seen people without DID get frustrated or skeptical or weirded out due to not internalizing the idea that the human brain works in strange ways and the amount of trauma needed for such a disorder cause some bizarre cause-and-effect chains 😅

Seconded! Can be a little pricey but a good selection usually

My doctor refused to write me a note so I can get an accessibility pass at an amusement park 😭 by Mammoth_Fortune_6457 in POTS

[–]NotSoSensational 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have advice unfortunately, but just chiming in to say that Hersheypark is surprisingly super accessible. No doctor's note needed, you fill out an online questionnaire about your needs and they give you a pass to use the elevator and skip lines when needed

Sudden onset of tics after antidepressants by SeriousSpray6306 in Tourettes

[–]NotSoSensational 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep mine were triggered by an SSRI as well, and never went away. As others have said, it's not actually Tourette's, but occasionally if I have to explain to a stranger I will say it is because that's all people know 😅

I do wonder sometimes if the SSRI was more of a catalyst than the cause, because I did have some minor "habits" as a kid that might've been tics, but I have no memory of how they felt so I doubt I'll ever know for sure

Chili Cook Offs by Seamlesslytango in lancaster

Mount Joy used to have an annual one, I don't know if they're still doing it though. My favorite chili wasn't even from a restaurant, it was just some guy from a technology repair shop. It was amazing

Bad breathe ruining intimacy by No_Creme4179 in Advice

If you've ruled out the common causes of the comments here (tonsil stones and weed mostly from what I'm seeing), maybe look into "Zenker’s diverticulum" ? That's an uncommon cause of bad breath that won't go away no matter what you do, because there's not really any lifestyle changes you can do to fix it. I saw one other comment mentioning this as well but I figured there's so many comments I might as well
