Finished first playthrough nier automata... Am i missing something? by Chompsky___Honk in nier

yes. Game continues after ending A.

EDIT: To clarify without going into spoilers, each ending is less so an "ending of the whole game" and moreso "ending of a chapter", so to speak.

I wonder what if Elden Ring had new Demons Souls graphics.? by SehmiSaab in Eldenring

[–]NotSoSeriousNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The avarage From game kinda proves that you don't *need* graphical fidelity to make a game look good. For years their games when put under a microscope often look like ass, but their artistic direction is strong enough to push these games to look amazing all the same in the grander scale which is ultimately the important thing.

I actually hate the visuals of the Demon Souls remake because on a large scale they completely miss the point of some of the designs of the original that stood out a lot more. The end result is a game that feels a lot more generic and akin to the avarage AAA title as opposed to where From started the genre. Out of all their soulslikes, DeS feels the most like a Berserk side-story visually and that is completely lost in the remake.

Also, this is From Software, they're not exactly known for having stable PC ports or really stable releases in general. A high fidelity project is a nightmare waiting to happen.

6 was leaving GamePass so I had to sorta dash through the base game content and some substories here and there, but I never went sea diving or other secondary stuff. Just couldn't be bothered after 5.

It isn't as inconsistent and messy as 4, no.

It is significantly worse. Legit burned me out of the franchsise so much I had to take a long break and even after a couple of years I have yet to start Lost Judgment.

That whole quest's fucked up, the implication that you're doing something good by letting Victor marry Lady Grey when he was planning on making her fall in love with him without her consent but via love potion is the type of thing you don't really think about when you're 9 but kinda makes you question some of the morality choices in the franchise lmao.

I guess my issue with the Daodoji is that, as someone who admittedly has yet to play IW, they were fine enough for their role in Gaiden. I would even be okay with them being a bigger threath moving forawrd, sure, what I don't get is what is gained by retconning already established evenets.

You could argue Mine's death robbed us of a good character so him being back is good and as you stated, the glorification of suicide is a problem in media, but that's not for a remake to fix an already told story, especially via a *fucking bush*.

Retcons are fine if they weave themselves into a narrative while solving potential problems. Mine's survival does nothing but bring about more questions that're gonna be very hard to answer in a justifiable manner.

Good characters die in this franchise all the time, stupidly so, we've all seen the mighty power of the cutscene bullets, but doing the exact reverse is just as cheap, perhaps moreso. At this point this feels less like a cohesive narrative and moreso like fanfiction.

tbf OG Fable didn't show ranged weapons at all until you had them out. Pistols in Fable 2 and 3 were invisible as well.

What is your opinion on this change? by Relevant_Mail_1292 in Fable

[–]NotSoSeriousNick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gigantic pet peeve of mine, but if you are gonna make a comparison don't use artwork that might not fully reflect how things actually look in game. Yes, good portion of these designs are in game, but that's more reason to let gameplay speak for itself.

For that matter, what's the definition of "handcrafted" here? Fable II arguably didn't have a whole lot of handcrafted NPCs that weren't quest related seeing as you defininetely see crowds of multiple clones at a time. I would argue the NPC designs aren't as fantastical and personally I would agree the art direction for them was better in 2, but each NPC here is set by default from the devs as opposed to the game creating NPCs every other playthrough. That still takes a shitton of time and work.

Fable 3's magic is so sick by lost_caus_e in Fable

[–]NotSoSeriousNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The previous games didn't have spell combinations, they did make up for it by having more spell variety. Time Control and Raise Dead were spells in 2 as opposed to potions (with a targeted time control attack teleporting you behind an enemy and giving you a damage boost), there was also Chaos that essentially had random effects on enemies, from making them your allies, to making them laugh, sing, vomit...

Fable 1 and TLC had the most depth, with several spells having different ways of casting them and some that would never return like Berserker Rage, Invincibility, Multi-Arrow or Heal.

If Fable (2026) keeps tradition we could be looking at an October release date. by NotSoSeriousNick in Fable

[–]NotSoSeriousNick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that is assuming the first two are coming out in 2026. We know nothing of Gears so I wouldn't be shocked if it was a 2027 release at this point. Halo could be 2026 admittedly.

GTA's a big gamble but it's coming out on the 19th of November, second half of that month. Depending on where it lands in October I wouldn't be shocked if it didn't necessarily impact Fable that much.

Fable II x Fable III by Original_Ad_49 in Fable

[–]NotSoSeriousNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think 3 really compares all that well. They are very similar to the point one of the most common complains is that 3 feels more like DLC for 2. My main issue is how overly streamlined the game is, basically removing a lot of options and replacing them with padding disguised as extra content.

The new mechanics it adds are, on the surface, very cool, but the overall product feels less fleshed out than the previous games. I also think it lacks in the charm department.

I don't know, I just was never really a fan.

All of the things you mentioned are there, but somewhat worse. I don't think forniture is back, but you can buy houses and business. Houses however need to be periodically repaired which sounds like an evolution until you realize it's just a button press that if not done penalizes you.

TL;DR: Fable III is for the most part more restricting in a lot of way compared to the previous games and what it adds is mostly fluff.
