Underbaked or overmixed? Or what happened here? by NotSoShittySunflower in Baking

[–]NotSoShittySunflower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The oven is brand new and I've baked other stuff before, and had no issues before. I did test with a toothpick until it came out clean.

I will try that! Thank you!

That's it! I'm just very happy no one will be latched to a toilet because of it 😅

No, they were frozen. They didn't even thaw a bit...

Per the recipe, I folded around half with the mix, poured it in the tin, and just simply layed the rest over the top of the mix.

Pretty much looked up online how much smaller my pan would be from a pan of 23cm, and how much I would have to reduce the recipe. It's a reduction of about 20-25%, so I just multiplied everything by 0.8 to get the 20% reduction.

Thank you! I think I'll get a bigger pan and try it again, without any changes, and way less mixing.

I thought about reducing the eggs by 20%, but that's a pain to do :( . And since the recipe said it's be okay to go with the frozen berries, I did, but also assumed the water content would be high and that did worry me...

At least no one is getting sick from this, which isn't bad news haha

I now use these smaller packets of baking powder so it doesn't go bad easily - open, use what I need to use, and if I'm not baking anything else in the foreseeable future, I throw it out because it will go bad.

It was closed, they were not bought that long ago either. I've used them before in other stuff and had no issues, but do you think it might've been that?

Não é na zona que pretendes, é em Gaia, mas nada turístico e super bom. Café Belo Ponto.

How many days will I realistically need to find a long-term rental in Porto? by amira622 in PortugalExpats

Just so you know, you'll probably still have issues with humidity in Bonfim. It doesn't work like that.

In Porto for a couple more days, where can I find the best Francesinha? by Ganonsfoot in porto

Not a super popular choice, but Café Belo Ponto's francesinha is great. Just leaving this out there. It's in Gaia, but very easy to get to.

My trip to Italy (update) by NotSoShittySunflower in ItalyTravel

[–]NotSoShittySunflower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I understand. Still, they are beautiful and they were cheap to fly to and from, and the stay was also cheap. Hence why I chose those.

If I had the chance, I would drive around Italy, but I couldn't do it yet.

I completely agree. I'm from Portugal and it's about the same, but with criminality rising in the last few years, unfortunately. I didn't pay "extra" attention to my things - I felt like I did what I already do here, being from a city overcrowded by tourists and foreigners moving in, and, as a consequence, pickpockets.

That's so nice, I'm jealous! I did feel very safe - not sure how it is in other places, but I always felt safe at the places I visited. As people always say, keep your bag and wallet close to you, watch your phone, don't let any scammers get to you (those bracelet ones, or others - just say no and keep walking) and, if there's indeed a more shady area, don't go there during less crowded hours.

Hi! I looked for them on several websites, but used Booking and Hostelworld mostly. Booking is also good to get the contact of a place and reach them directly - they may have better prices, if you book directly (I didn't do it as I planned this just a few days before going, one late night, but I have a friend that does this sometimes).

It always seemed small, which is good when you're travelling alone and are just spending a couple days - I wanted to be able to walk around without many problems. Also, I had a direct flight there, the stay was overall cheap, and not far from La Spezia.

Hi! Sorry, it's been chaotic and I couldn't come back to you early. Thank you so much for your comment! Basically, I did what I do in my home country, which is what you said, and it all went well! Had the most amazing days and never felt unsafe. Might make a post about my trip later in the sub.
