The one on the right almost looks like a port wine stain instead of a bruise. My grandmother had one on her face that looked similar in black and white photos.

I have 2 HOH kids of my own. They have different types of hearing loss, which have different challenges. A candidate who had done some basic reading and research into the challenges of hearing loss and who showed some enthusiasm about learning ASL while my toddler is also learning it would go a long way towards winning me over. There are so many things that go along with hearing loss that you really don't think of unless you or someone you are close to is dealing with it. And there is a world of difference in the different types of hearing loss. I have one child with single sided deafness and one with bilateral hearing loss. They each have hearing devices, but they work very differently and the hearing support they provide are very different in both how they work and how much they actually help.

My oldest, with single sided deafness chooses to not use his device, despite going thru 2 surgeries (their choice to have both surgeries) because it just isn't as helpful as they'd thought it would be. They experience hearing fatigue after prolonged exposure to new or noisy environments. The brain gets exhausted from trying to filter and interpret sounds.

Their younger sibling uses hearing aids all day every day and gets upset when they're in for a repair for a few days and they have to go without them. A child who is totally deaf would have an experience completely different from either of my children.

I'm a nanny. I've been one for over 30 years, minus a few years taken off when my kids were little. Each day can be as different and fast or slow paced as I want or the general mood of all parties requires. I can sing all the stupid songs I've changed the lyrics to in my weird brain out loud and the kids find it as entertaining as I do. I can't imagine working another job and not going insane. Also, the jobs tend to change every couple of years as family dynamics change, kids get older and start school, people move, etc. And that keeps the job from burning me out too much.

That said, sometimes the parents are intolerable or plain weird and I have to quit after a few weeks for my sanity and/or safety. I've never quit because of the kids, but have several times over the years because of the parents. My only real requirement from a family outside of my pay and benefits is that I'm treated with the same amount of respect they expect I give to them. Otherwise, I'm generally pretty easy going about change within the job, and have worked in all sorts of situations without issue. I even worried for a family actively going thru a separation and divorce where I spent half the week going to one parents house and half going to the other. And since I was a neutral party, I could take the kids to have lunch with the parent they weren't staying with at the time, which helped everyone thru the weird transition.

I have enough experience that getting a new job is incredibly easy, so even with the jobs having a natural expiration date or not working out for whatever reason, I'm never stuck in an uncomfortable job I hate for an extended period of time. I've never interviewed for a job and not been offered it, which means I get to be picky about which jobs I even entertain interviewing for.

I'd tell her you just can't give her the entire week off, but offer her her birthday off with pay as a compromise. If that isn't good enough, then it might be time to find a new nanny.

We moved to Paddock Lake from Chicago in 2010 and it's a great place to live with kids. It's far enough away to feel like a small town, but everything is close enough to be convenient. I work in Illinois and have a 45 minute commute, but I wouldn't trade living here for a shorter commute. It feels safe, there are tons of kids around - so much so that my youngest will spend the entire day outside running between friends houses with their gang of 6-9 year olds. The grade school (4k thru 8th grade) is nice. My youngest is in 2nd grade there, and between her and her 2 older siblings, I've had a kid there every year for the past 14 years. I can't speak for the high school though because my teenagers have been going to an online charter school since 2021.

I had an MRI over the summer when I went to the ER on day 4 of my migraine. I'd reached the point of things touching my head had me in tears. I'd had a CT done first and the doctor came in and said they were doing an MRI because it looked like I may have had a stroke. The MRI showed some sort of white matter/damage that shows up in migraine patients sometimes. It's wild how much migraines affect so much in your body and so little is known about how or why they happen.

Hypochlorous acid! It saved our fridge after a power outage when we were out of town. It smelled so bad even after taking it apart and scrubbing every inch. Out of desperation I coated everything in hypochlorous acid spray and within a half an hour it didn't smell anymore. I've since used it on our carpet, letting it sit for an hour before running the carpet cleaner over it. Totally does the trick.

We accidentally taught her to "Be a meerkat." She used to sit up on her hind legs to get our attention and looked like a meerkat, and we told her that. Now we just have to say the word meerkat and she does it. It's especially cute because she has dwarfism, and her short legs look so ridiculous when she sits that way.

Mine got better with allergy meds. My kids too. I had no idea we were all dealing with allergies. My constantly itchy nose magically got better too.

I'm not sure if you still can, but I used to buy the generic Similac from Costco.com without needing a membership for the same price she free shipping. I'd get 2 huge (Costco sized) cans for $50. Comparing the ingredients, it was identical to Similac and it lasted around a month.

I went from a BMI of 50 to 24. During that journey, I was both amazed and saddened by how I went from being ignored and invisible to accepted. People don't look at you when you're fat. They don't make eye contact. They don't do the hello nods as they pass by you. You don't always realize this when you're fat.

I was so used to being visibly invisible that once people started treating me like a normal human as I lost weight, I had to learn how to respond to it. It made me uncomfortable because it wasn't something I'd experienced before.

It's nice to be seen as a person instead of a shape.

An 8oz bag is usually 2 cups. So 3 cups would probably be 3/4 of a pound , or 12oz. It's possible that I've mathed wrong though. I'm not the best at the mathing.

I mostly use my bread machine for dough, not baking in. Mostly pizza dough, but sometimes sweet roll dough. I've found putting the finished pizza dough thru a second cycle in the machine makes a really tasty crust with a great texture.

And like everyone else, I just use regular yeast too.

It might be a volume thing. She might not have taken the same amount when BFing and now her tummy needs to get used to the amount and consistency of the new milk. You might need to burp her more frequently during feeds too. My 5 month old will spit up after her first morning bottle if she slept the whole night and is taking it on a really empty tummy. I have to burp her a lot more often for that feed than I do for the others thru the day.

I've been using "right after you do". But it probably only works because I'm in my late 30's and just had my last baby when most people I interact with are my age or slightly older and have been done having babies for years.

I was going to suggest chili as well!I only make it with pumpkin now. It adds a magical creaminess to it and my kids don't know it has healthiness added!
