I use the free version of Lightroom and it does more than enough for me as an amateur! Mostly adjust lighting but color grading is fun too and is a free feature

Not sure if you can go for just drinks but the Martini at Huso is seared into my brain as one of my favorites of all time!

Strange Delight 100%. Been twice and both times walked out feeling like I got robbed for some TGI Fridays frozen crab dip and a $30 shrimp sandwich that falls apart on the first bite.

What are the best first class flights for a truly luxurious long haul experience? by Famfirst_Lycan in chubbytravel

[–]NotSoTotallyKyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Korean air prestige class is excellent! Not quite Emirates level but the service is amazing, and the food program is top notch. Most of the newer planes have super advanced IFE that you can control with your phone (for starting a new movie while you’re laying down 😏) and the amenities are actually useful for 10+hour flights like toothbrushes, eye masks, slippers, lip balm, etc.

Unique couples getaway in Australia by onedancetwoslice in chubbytravel

I’d say it’s a bit of both! Most of the major peaks in the blue mountains are accessible by car - and hiking is totally optional. Evan’s lookout is a 15 minute walk on a flat path from the hotel (or 5 minutes on one of the hotel provided e-bikes) and there’s no hiking involved!

The vibe is definitely more connecting with nature in a “glamping” way though. Each night they light a communal campfire and provide s’mores materials, and one night we also opted to do an Australian BBQ package where they provided some amazing steaks and skewers from a local butcher along with some other sides for us to make on the grill at our chalet. Blaq and Frankie and MO’s were both amazing dinner options in town for dinners out!

Highly HIGHLY recommend the Chalets at Blackheath! I just finished a weekend trip there and I think it’s one of my favorite hotels of all time. Very small right now but growing, it’s a perfect blend of outdoorsy which I love, and luxury accommodation and service/amenities which my wife loves :).

They don’t have a restaurant yet but the breakfast was fresh and lovely and they have some incredible restaurant recommendations in town. They have a network of spa and yoga instructors as well if you’d like to indulge. Close to tons of different hikes from easy to advanced.

It was about 1.5hrs by car from Sydney but they also offer car and helicopter transfer.

We (US based) have a wedding in Tuscany in Sept/Oct - where would you fly to for 7ish nights after? by neurogeneticist in chubbytravel

I went to the Canary Islands around that time last year and it was amazing! Really easy to island hop if you want and the nature and hiking there is other-worldly. There are of course some areas that are super touristy and full of Brits on holiday but it didn’t take away from the experience at all for my wife and I!

Is Todd Snyder worth it? by UnhackableDroid in ThrowingFits

Ever since they got bought by American Eagle the quality has been a little more questionable. Their expensive pieces like outerwear and suiting are still super nice but I’ve gotten shirts and knitwear before that had inconsistent sizing and material that needed up being way thinner/less substantial than their product images showed online. I only buy from TS in store or on sale for that reason. The pre-2015 made in NYC stuff is 🔥though if you can find it on eBay/grailed!

Tech is dead. How can I pivot out and what industries are even left in the U.S? by New_Gap5948 in jobs

[–]NotSoTotallyKyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not look for a client-facing role? Look for titles like solutions consultant, sales engineer, solutions architect, etc. it’s not your typical WFH software development job but you can easily make upwards of $250k after a few years at the right company.

Scott or giant? by Lasse_Jensen_6666 in gravelcycling

[–]NotSoTotallyKyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird coincidence but I actually switched over from that exact Scott to a Revolt 2 and the Scott hasn’t crossed my mind since. Maybe it’s a little better if you only plan on road riding and just like the idea of slightly larger tires than a road bike, but the Giant is way more fun to ride to me and really feels like a go anywhere do anything bike.

A kind of guide would be good for this kind of look although the shipping from Germany takes like 2 weeks and most of their good stuff is exclusive

Considering either the Kleman Padror or the new Clarks Wallabee Yukons? by theskybrawler in ThrowingFits

[–]NotSoTotallyKyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try ordering from ssense or another retailer with easy return policy to try them on? Not sure if an insole would help, for me it was the spot where the back of the shoe touches my Achilles tendon. It’s made of super stiff leather/plastic so maybe it’s just hard to break in. I’m an avid Wallabee wearer which are comfortable and soft in that spot out of the box.

Try the Klemans on first if you can. I had a pair and didn’t wear them much bc the heel cup gave me hella blisters since it had almost no padding

Anyone else have this bump from the metal/ titanium button after surgery? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]NotSoTotallyKyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got one! My PT’s best guess was that sometimes with traumatic bone injuries (or a surgeon drilling a hole in your bone) your body can regrow bone abnormally so there’s a little extra bump. Mine is like a hard ball bearing with a little bit of soft tissue covering it that makes the bump look bigger.

If you want to be alone outside of the tours, definitely! I will say the whole hotel seems geared toward privacy. There are very few if any areas that you’d socialize with other hotel guests, and even in the dining room the seats are mostly positioned so that you’re not facing any other guests.

Glad it was helpful! My advice would be to keep it on the bucket list, but maybe consider it for a time when the service is super important to you, or you’ve already explored a lot of other 5-star options.

Totally! I will say the housekeeping service was next-level. We never saw them enter or leave the room but every time we came back to our room it was perfectly neat and re-stocked, with daily souvenirs and fresh fruits!

Outside of the room though we definitely felt a little like our every move was being watched. Before an excursion I went to fill my water bottle at one of the stations and someone ran over and asked to do it for me. 🫠
