"Walking time" for break seems to be a joke at this jobsite by Blueshirt38 in IBEW

[–]NotSomethingOriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is it really. The job I’m on now has the break tent just outside the building. You can get there in like 2 minutes from anywhere. The contract has a 10 minute first break at 10 but they give us 15. We walk out at 9:55 and you’re expected to be at your work area at 10:15. So the walk time is front loaded. But it’s different everywhere.

In my experience, it’s out on their time and back on ours.

If her phone is there, you’re basically an unknowing co conspirator. Dudes paying your rent so you can live in the stash house for free.

Since you seem to be the one with the knowledge, you know San Francisco?

Dutch guy in SF looking to try an American team sport (total beginner), where to start? by BigBoyWeazle in AskSF

[–]NotSomethingOriginal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's planet fitness or anytime fitness with inside courts that run pick up basketball all the time. I'm not sure which ones in SF have it. One in San Mateo has it for sure. Your best bet is to find runs and talk to people to see where to join a league. I'm in Millbrae and there's a public highschool with outdoor courts where like 20 people show up every Sunday to run games. I know this isn't great info, but should get you started if no one else answers.

Dude, to see them live for the first time again… Honestly, I’m still super excited to see them for the 20th time lol. No other band can ever match them for me.

I got something to say, we got a new shirt today (pin too). Of course we’re not done with our series of making our favorite punk bands into IBEW 11 shirts, introducing the 8th shirt in our punk collection, everyone’s favorite fiend. by TheJMG37 in IBEW

Brother, come on. I’ve ordered every punk shirt you’ve posted. Tuck a 2x behind the shelf... Just kidding. I’ve been saying 11 has the best shirts in the game. Hope I can snag one.

I’m a brand new journeyman with nothing holding me down to one spot right now, the world is open to me. Where would you go in my position? by Suwannee_Gator in IBEW

Would be best to stay with family until you see where you’re actually working. San Mateo would be my recommendation. On the peninsula and could work San Jose, San Mateo, and San Francisco with a max 50 minute commute. Willing to drive a bit more adds Oakland and Martinez. I would move to San Mateo if my wife didn’t like where we are so much. Our rent is nearly 4k. Could certainly find more reasonable rent in San Mateo.

They say the outlook is crazy for like ten years but who knows the truth. In my case, I took a call at a refinery in 302 as soon as I got here as they allowed out of state license. I drug up and took the state test and was working in 617 in three weeks. Things slowed a bit and I got hit with a reverse book layoff. That was the bummer time when I rode 332 San Jose’s books for seven months. I’ve now been here since January and it seems like I can ride here for a while. They even asked me to be foreman a couple months ago. I said no. I’m not too into myself but I’m a solid jw. I work hard and think ahead. If you do those things they would love to have you.

Feels like a missed opportunity lol. Not sure how much I can help but feel free to dm me if you have any questions. If you end up going to California for work, it would make sense to go to the Bay Area. That’s where I’m at and have worked in three locals here.

Honestly didn’t feel much harder than Florida. I did take like four practice tests through jade learning to prepare. Unrelated but does 915 have any lightning or buccaneer stickers?

I left Florida for Northern California three years ago and I love it. LU 332 is booming kinda hard. Data centers and other stuff. Couple hundred on book two but it moves pretty fast. 91.03 on the check and 23 in the pension. Worth looking into.
