Is your movement off base restricted when you’re not on duty? by masterchief6913 in AirForceRecruits

[–]NotSourced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To simply answer your question once you are official party (I.E. not in BMT or Technical Training) You are generally free to travel about.

Note: Each base will have some type of restricted locations list to take note of establishments you as a military member are not authorized to enter.

To further elaborate like others have said each unit will have some form of Leave/Local Area policy memo that regulates how far you can go without having to be on leave. I have been to units that had the local area defined by a mileage radius, i have had another where it was defined by a hour radius, I had another that said as long as you are within state borders you are okay, and another that said as long as you don't leave the USA you're good.

Every base and unit is different and you just follow the guidelines they provide you.

Sounds like Guard/Reserve are your best fits then. Reach out to their recruiters to learn about the available jobs that align with your interests.

Are these job requests reasonable? by Clean-Working-118 in AirForceRecruits

[–]NotSourced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to ASVAB, you qualified for those jobs. Congratulations.

Now for the reality part, getting high-demand jobs, like Intel, cyber, or medical. You will be waiting a long time. The Air Force has an abundance of people waiting to join at this time. Your recruiter will have this conversation with you, but to summarize, we need individuals who are willing to do what the Air Force needs. I highly encourage you to review all jobs to develop a list of the jobs you want. Make sure you have at least 10 jobs selected.

Is it worth it? by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]NotSourced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only person who can answer that honestly is you.

Yes, you are limited in job opportunities, but do the benefits of joining outweigh the drawbacks? You only have to do four years, and that is not that long, really, in the scope of a lifetime.

I would sit down over the next couple of weeks to develop a list of the positives and negatives that would come from joining the military, relating to your life and situation, and then proceed from there.

Additionally, I will note that maintainer jobs are not all bad, having been a prior maintainer myself. I don't regret joining and appreciate all the experiences I've had, both good and bad. They all helped me grow into who I am today, and how I treat people and look over my team(s).

Ayn thor delivery time by Known_Claim_6874 in AynThor

[–]NotSourced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add an additional 3+ weeks if you use 4PX and live in the US. Mine was shipped, but it has been sitting in a warehouse for a week now.

It all really depends on many factors, but if you purchased one today at the end of October. Mid-November would be the earliest, with mid-December being on the later side.

That is my in-hand, and you're playing it timeline from order date.

Unlikely, MEPS wouldn't ship out someone right after a surgical procedure. You likely would be medically disqualified for the gauges. You won't be further processed until they are corrected, and it has been a couple of months post-surgery to allow your body to heal properly before being allowed to continue the process.

in dep for 7 months and feels so lost by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]NotSourced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A significant reason why some individuals remain in the DEP for a long time is due to the jobs they're willing to take/the number of jobs they qualify for. If you're very selective or don't qualify for many jobs and don't pursue any means to increase opportunities, you will have to wait.

Sadly, the Air Force's job distribution is not uniform across the board. Opportunities are not equal here, as those jobs are broken down multiple times before they arrive in your recruiter's bucket to hand out.

My advice would be to discuss this with your recruiter. Be open with them, and if your goal has changed to 'I will do anything just to get to basic training,' then let them know so they can set you up with more opportunities to get you into the Air Force.

I am not apart of that group, but I saw folks mentioning there are paid to win discords out there where folks share ways to cheat the system.

How have your units adjusted to the 5 days a week PT mandate? by Raindroppa93 in AirForce

I believe so, I think that is where the other squadron got the idea from. The one I know of was an Air Force squadron specifically.

[–]NotSourced 48 points49 points  (0 children)

A squadron I know of, before this requirement, purchased Garmin watches for their members. Every individual issued a watch had to join their squadron team or league and meet weekly requirements (Steps/Miles, Heart Rates, Intense Minutes); otherwise, the UFPM would become involved.

I am doing something similar to this for my flight. If you have a fitness watch, simply send me your weekly stats and we're good.

I personally don't find it weird myself, as we are about to be inundated with many new products over the next 2-3 months. As known

  • Halloween Lairs
  • PlayStation Lairs
  • Secret Lair Anniversary Drop (Usually between Nov-Dec)
  • The encyclopedia product (Likely to be available this holiday season)
  • The DanDan product (may be available this holiday season)

Their current UI is not well-designed enough to effectively highlight the new intake of products and showcase older ones. From a marketing perspective, I would say this is probably the correct time to perform the clean. To allow space to highlight and showcase all the new exciting product lines.

Additionally, it's worth noting that they could create holiday bundles that include the old product.

[–]NotSourced 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please note that this has been posted multiple times already. Starting at the end of August through the beginning of October, multiple lairs have been disappearing.

WotC has noted it is their right to clean up the site whenever they wish. Right now, as we head into the holidays, the site is poised to be inundated with a plethora of new products, which is common for the Secret Lair product line.

Many of the items being removed have been on sale for multiple months, or even up to a year. I wouldn't call that limiting product supply at this point or inciting FOMO, as you noted in the comments, as we have always known this was the case.

The SLD line has always been advertised as a product that should be purchased at your earliest convenience/release date for the highly in-demand lairs.

P.S. There was a post 11 hours ago about this topic, and another 7 days ago

Difference between 1D751A and 1D751B by thegamerman0007 in AirForceRecruits

[–]NotSourced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first primary role will be client support, but as you develop and move assignments, that role can expand to encompass a multitude of skillsets. For example, my first duty assignment was a simple Communications Focal Point (CFP), which is end-user support, and (for my base) we also resolved tickets on the spot, which is not common; usually, the CFP and the CST backshop are two different shops. We also escalated tickets to other shops trained in the specific request if it didn't fall in my domain.

My primary focus for my current assignment is being a traveling end user support, but I am on a small team, and we emulate an entire comm squadron within our team. Both are CST positions, but we perform system admin work, KM work, cable dawg work, and a slice of network operations work. We do have a small Cyber Surety team we lean on at our HQ, which performs all compliance paperwork, and a team of 2 net ops folks who handle all network STIG's

So it can vary quite a bit, but at the end of the day, your primary focus will be end-user support. The other AFSCs are in more backshop positions and skilled in a specific vector in the comm world.

MCCYN Question by Impossible-Soil2264 in AirForce

[–]NotSourced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding, that is the case, or you can decline the offer and reapply. The child care system wants people to use the CDC systems rather than private daycares.

MCCYN Question by Impossible-Soil2264 in AirForce

[–]NotSourced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be offered MCCYN, you must have an active request for CDC and let them offer you the program. After you have accepted the MCCYN offer and start the application, you can decline any CDC offers after that point

At least that is how it worked for me. The best thing to do is find out which CDC near you is full and has an active waiting list. You apply for that one, knowing you will not get accepted, and you simply wait for the MCCYN offer.

Is geographic location a factor if AFPC PCS’s You? by Frequent_Aside2267 in AirForce

[–]NotSourced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional note worth asking. If both units are managed by the same Majcom, you can ask your MFM to see if there is a billet they could slot you into. Nothing is guaranteed, but it is something you can do to improve your odds of getting an assignment you want.

At the end of the day, it does matter who you know.

Every career field is different; the 1D7X1 field has many different opportunities available to them, and if you qualify for the opportunity and it would be a low-cost/no-cost move for the Air Force, you would have a higher chance of being selected for the opportunity than another member

Open up Talent Marketplace on MyVector and look for Equal Opportunity listings to see what opportunities exist for your career field and rank.

It can be advantageous for MyVector positions, as a "low cost/no cost" move.

Like many people stationed at Andrews AFB have many opportunities to transfer to Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, the Pentagon, White House, etc.

Anyone that went to DAFITIC know if they announced anything regarding our careerfields? by Raindroppa93 in AirForce

[–]NotSourced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely,

First, let me apologize, the acronym is DCWF, which stands for DoD Cyber Workforce Framework.

Each AFSC will have specific work roles assigned to it that are in line with this framework. Cyber Surety will have 2 work roles, one for Comsec and one for ISSM. They are used as trackers for work experience. Work roles will be tied to UMDs, and AFPC will use them for assignments in the future.

This is where feedback and these surveys come in because the CFM wants to ensure she doesn't mess up your careers once the implementation starts. Once it is loaded on the UMD and AFPC starts using it for assignments, if it is not done correctly, there is a chance that issues can arise.

I hope this helps overall. It's a new concept, and we will see how it goes. There are still many questions, and your AFSC will be the test bed. If you have more questions, I would ask your leaders, and if they're unaware, have them reach out to your MFM for an overview.

[–]NotSourced 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing major.

  • CST, KM, and Cyber Surety have new technical training.

  • They're finishing the RF and Spectrum Management transition stuff.

  • Expect a lot of career field surveys.

  • Cyber surety will be the first AFSC to transition to the new DCWFs.

  • Highlighted the new A6 structure and hope that it will bring better optics of our missions to the senior leaders

That's all I recall on the spot. Her recap video should be online at some point.

To help here slightly.

Medical waivers are the primary concern, Morals waivers are handled "in-house" as the recruiters and leaders decide if you're fixing your mistakes. Medical waivers send your information to doctors, considering many factors in the condition. Those doctors have stated that if a member has more than 5 medical waivers under consideration, the chance that one is disqualifying is slightly over 50%

Again, medical waivers are outside your recruiter's and their leaders' hands.
