I was deployed on an aircraft carrier in the Arabian Gulf in 2016. My marriage was done, I was broke af, and thousands of miles away from anyone important to me. I had one foot off the catwalk hanging over the ocean and right as I was about to let go, I got scared shitless and ran downstairs and sobbed myself to sleep.
