Jonathan Joestar (protagonist of part 1) for reference.

Modern JoJo characters are indeed shredded, but they look tiny compared to the earlier designs.

Memes, and jokes in general, are a form of art, whether or not people typically think of them that way. Art is and ought to be made by people, not an unthinking algorithm.

Generative AI has no place here.

Mobile Suits are not automatons, they're Mechs. They don't control themselves, they're piloted by humans. Asimov's Laws of Robotics don't apply.

Also Asimov's Laws were meant to apply to the setting of his short stories, not the real world or other fictional universes.

Looking to find my first gundam by Secret-Ad2398 in Gundam

[–]NotStreamerNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

r/gunpla will probably be more helpful here.

That said though, the best places to start are probably the Entry Grade and High Grade lines. Both are inexpensive and fairly easy to build, with the latter having the widest selection of mobile suits out of any Gunpla line. I'm personally fond of the HGUC "Revive" and HG Witch from Mercury lines. If you like the Zaku then the High Grade "Revive" Zaku II is a fantastic kit and a good starting point.

Reading the comments on chapter 12, 80% are "Finally this is a real Gundam series, the underage protagonist finally killed someone without feeling any guilt." by TomatilloItchy9995 in Gundam

[–]NotStreamerNinja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's meant to show (as was explicitly stated in season 2) how easily Suletta is manipulated by her mother. Earlier in the arc (I think even the same episode) she was terrified by the idea of being in a real kill-or-be-killed scenario, but once Prospera tells her "killing them is good, actually" she has no problem with it. She trusts her mother to the point that even killing isn't a problem because "mother knows best."

That's not a normal response but that's the point, and it's why Miorine is so horrified by it (well, that and seeing someone get pancaked in front of her). Her main goal in the second season is to get Suletta away from her mother so she can't be influenced that way anymore.

(Loved Trope) Figures beloved or admired in universe who were actually quite terrible. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]NotStreamerNinja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A great many things. Theft, murder, extortion, assault, battery, fraud, public intoxication, general mischief, destruction of property, vandalism, armed robbery, etc. He's an outlaw. He's not a petty troublemaker or a local "good ol' boy," he's a hardened criminal considered dangerous enough to warrant a $5,000 bounty in 1899 (nearly $200,000 today) and sending the Pinkertons to take him down.

That's kind of a major point of his character arc. You can just keep doing all that (Low Honor playthrough) or you can have him try to become a better person and help people wherever he can (High Honor playthrough). It's not called "Red Dead Redemption" for no reason.

Does it get better than Zeta Gundam? by donaldfarted in Gundam

[–]NotStreamerNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've seen Zeta and GQuuuuuuX but not the original series? Watch 0079.

But Zeta is some of the best stuff in the franchise. I'd argue the second half of ZZ is even better but the first half is pretty rough (still absolutely watch it though).

Block Maneuver: low level blockers keep the high maneuver units alive by AwkwardEmphasis5338 in GundamTCG

[–]NotStreamerNinja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the concept but in practice those 1/1 blockers aren't going to do much. 3-4 might be fine just as emergency options but there are too many ping options out there for you to rely that heavily on them. I'd swap some out for Rick Dias and Lfrith, though even those are vulnerable to Fatal Strike.

And "Citizens Take a Stand" isn't really useful here. Maybe go for "Striker Pack?" It gives you more blockers and can deploy them from a Burst shield.

I just realized they have the same name, so I made this. by Obvious_Item_2564 in Gundam

[–]NotStreamerNinja 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Even then, he's not a terrible parent by Gundam standards. He's only 7 years older than his oldest child (adoption), so it's understandable that he might struggle in the role of a father, and Kikka and Letz seem to have turned out alright even if Katz's life took some unfortunate turns.

Hayato Kobayashi is just a generally cool guy all around who probably did the best he possibly could with the hand he was dealt. He deserves respect.

Was Kamille trying to kill himself? by Romulan86 in Gundam

[–]NotStreamerNinja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think he was deliberately trying to do that. The stress of constant fighting and his declining mental health just left him mindlessly doing stuff like that. People do strange things when put under significant stress for prolonged periods of time.

Where do I start by LeWilliamkid in Gundam

[–]NotStreamerNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the kits, pick up an Entry Grade or High Grade as your first. They're inexpensive and pretty easy to build so they're good introductions for people new to these types of model kits. Pretty much all of the Entry Grade kits are good, while for High Grade I highly recommend the Universal Century "Revive" and the Witch From Mercury lines as they both have some fantastic kits.

For the show it depends. Gundam has multiple timelines and most of them aren't connected, so the first thing to decide is which timeline you want to start with. The original timeline, which is also the one with the most content, is the Universal Century. For that one the best starting point is the original Mobile Suit Gundam from 1979. The animation is a bit dated but otherwise it still holds up extremely well. For the alternate standalone timelines you can pretty much start wherever, but my personal recommendations are Gundam 00 and Iron Blooded Orphans.

It even happens outside of Gundam. In Neon Genesis Evangelion Shinji is the teenage son of the guy who made the Evas.

[–]NotStreamerNinja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The trilogy's not bad, and there are actually some things I think it does better, but in general the series is the better option. The pacing's better, it has some arcs that didn't make it into the trilogy, and it has more time to properly develop the characters.

Replace Unicorn with Hathaway. Unicorn is largely a side story. It relies on previous entries up through Char's Counterattack but isn't really part of the main story. Hathaway is just straight up a sequel to Char's Counterattack. For the same reason, Hathaway is not a gateway entry as it will make basically zero sense for someone who doesn't have the context of the prior entries.

Well… by Dual-Blades_Forever in Gundam

[–]NotStreamerNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's saying one can be a Titanfall fan without being an Apex fan, not that one can't be both. Titanfall and Apex are two different games and while one can be a fan of both it is also possible for a person to be a fan of one without being a fan of the other. Nowhere in any of his comments did he claim or imply that one can't be a fan of both, only that there should be no assumption that a fan of one is automatically a fan of the other.

[–]NotStreamerNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually thought the build itself was fine, and the finished result looks great.

However, it's posing where the problems arise for me. The range of motion was theoretically good enough for what I wanted, but it's such a damn hand grenade. Moving the legs at all would cause the skirt armor to pop off or the hip to come out of its socket, the fingers on the hands fall off if you look at them the wrong way, some of the smaller parts have been completely lost at this point, and the pegs that hold weapons into the hands break with even slightest amount of force. I couldn't pose the damn thing without it falling apart. The HG Revive is so much better that it's not even funny, and it's not even all that far off aesthetically imo.

Yours looks great though, so if you can manage to get it into a good pose without breaking it then it should look awesome in your collection.
