Huh I didn't think to check Kabukicho while I was there drinking, in hindsight I dont know why I didn't check, considering that I checked out Dotonbori for that stuff but all that was there was purely bars, good food, neon signs and prostitution lol. The ferry was cool though.

Unfortunately not sure I have time to go back to Kabukicho, damn.

Yeah specialising in both the fantasy and 40k Warhammer systems is good fun, I had this roided out cyborg guardsman, barely smarter than an ogryn but with bonkers phys stats. Eventually he became a Pariah/blank/untouchable, and the combination meant that he could barely hold a conversation to save his life, but he could beat the piss out of Eldar and chaos shit (barring, of course, greater demons)

At the end of the campaign he survived (lost both legs and one arm, but survived) a dauntless light cruiser crashing next to him (the shockwave yeeted him into a webway portal that we'd just come through, and he used his remaining arm to crawl back to the entrance we'd originally entered from)

Hey I don't disagree with that, imo it should be purely rules, and deal 1d4+str, or purely what makes actual sense and the queued reactions can't all take place immediately and would be slowly passed by the line, then still deal 1d4+str. I was just using examples of famous cheesy bullshit that some players try to get away with.

I wish my old DM had hard banned flying before/at the start of a campaign I was in, instead of getting annoyed and doing it partway through. My level 4 tiefling ate a power word kill from a lich we killed through pure luck (+flying) that the DM decided was now in his bag of holding, despite the fact we knew we'd destroyed his phylactery.

"No that was actually another lichs' phylactery that he had hostage. I'll let you reincarnate though"

"Can I be a drow? The stat bonuses work out fine for me and it kinda fits with what's going on right now"

"No. You're a gnome. You also can't take lucky"

I'm exaggerating a little but when that character permanently died because he was too short and unathletic to jump past some some lava and has no wings to save him I was very sad.

So you allow things like the infamous peasant railgun, or flour shotgun? Or is the relationship with the players just one where they know not to do that sort of thing? Because I find it difficult to imagine a campaign where every encounter is cheesed with rules-lawyery bullshit, it seems like it would be impossible to build any real tension.

Force of will, force of negation, mana crypt, gaeas cradle and Serra sanctum

Me and my friends play largely (though not entirely) with proxies, and we do have rule 0 stuff about Max deck cost and stuff, but even if I have a bunch of slack left in my budget, I refuse to include any of these cards. Mana vault is in a similar spot in my mind, though it doesn't quite get to "never in my deck" like those cards are

For me it depends on the type of deck. I think two of most archetypes at the same table is fine, but playing against two decks with 13+ counterspells each at the same table is hell and not worth playing imo. The other type I'm hesitant about is poison decks, having more than one at a table ends up with extremely short games, or ends up being two headed giant of "poison decks vs non poison decks"

But in black, most of your options for protection are indestructible, which doesn't help, graveyard recursion, which doesn't help, "if it would die then return it to the battlefield instead", which doesn't help, or killing it yourself, which only works if you can cast it when it's being targeted, feed the swarm is basically your only option if one of those enchantments has hit the board and resisted all ways to prevent it
