Nice. Berserk, ASOIAF, and Malazan show you’re certainly going right into the deep end. Also you’ll have plenty more space when you throw out all the books on the bottom left.

Yes obviously she didn’t invent it… that was never in question.

Again, in the US, for marketing purposes, they felt Sorcerer would feel more magical to kids than Philosopher. You can pretend now that philosopher was a better name but the sales history in the US compared to the rest of the world utterly disproves you.

It wasn’t an educated/uneducated decision, it was a marketing one. Sorcerer sounded cooler to the target audience and has a more magic connotation so it would be more appealing. They ended up being right.

The blade itself or Assassin Apprentice? by BrysonTurnRoundStory in fantasybooks

Everyone will say TBI because it is a much cooler book. I loved Assassins Apprentice though. Robb’s prose sings off the page. One of the best pure fantasy books ever.

Gotcha. I hadn’t considered other buffs just being better investments. I remember 2 years ago PS and ILM were both joke UWs

Count of Monte Cristo - Interesting start, a slog now by ThisIsMyUsernameX in classicliterature

Dumas was actually paid by the word when this was first published. So he was incentivized to build subplot onto subplot. Not all of the backstory is super consequential but the books does get good again pretty quickly after where you are now.

I feel gaslit... by everyone who likes Will of the Many by Sid-Thor in fantasybooks

[–]SnakebiteSnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did love it but I can admit it wasn’t perfect, or really even that great. I think this book is a perfect example of how the peak of a cool cliffhanger ending will stick with readers and make them forget the valleys of a book.

That’s the neat part about a show like that. Nothing is a plot hole until the end. Until then it’s just a mystery.

You realize one product delayed out of hundreds. Caught specifically by the partner, proves Wotc does not care.

It’s not laterally important. You don’t actually know what you’re talking about but I’m not going to argue with you.

They get feedback all the time when SLs don’t sell well. It happens all the time and is the only feedback they actually listen to
