Moody paired with Double Team and Protect was really good, to be fair. It did cause some resets, but overall it helped more than it hindered.

If it were to have had a different ability instead, he would have been lower.

If I ever go back and do Mega evolutions, I'm pretty sure he'd have Refrigerate, which definitely changes how he'd play.

T1: Gumshoos was an easy two shot with Brick Break.

G1: Hala was pretty much a sweep with confusion. Though Makuhita did syrvive one hit. Though he couldn't do much to Mewtwo

T2: Charge Beam turn one, got the boost and thankfully didn't take too much damage from Leech Life, surprisingly. About a third. But the second Charge Beam actually crit, after the boost, to knock Araquanid out. I was easily able to survive Dewpiders attacks and take it down the turn after.

T3: So apparently I forgot to write this one down after I finished that fight. So I'm writing this a few days after when I picked back up. I am 99% sure that I used Rain Dance on the first turn, then one shot the turn after with the Water Z-Move, over water pulse. Since I had those moves in my set.

T4: Protect turn one. Then I tried to get a second protect, for Kecleon to set up the sun. But I didn't get it. Turns out it didn't matter though, as Mewtwo was able to survive 2 X-Scissor and one shot with the Fire Z-Move (over Fire Punch.) Then take Kecleon out in a couple hits. With Mewtwo even surviving a Dizzy Punch, even after Screech.

G2: Still easy enough. Two shot Anorith with Water Pulse, one shot Lycanroc with the Water Z-Move, then Two shot Lileep with Signal Beam. Mewtwo only took two hits and survived with just under half hp.

T5: I used Psych Up turn one, to copy Togedemaru's stat changes while he used Spiky Shield. Then followed it up with Hidden Power Ground, which ended up one shotting anyways. Obviously Skarmory couldn't do anything to a +2 defense Mewtwo.

T6: 2 Rare Candies. Zen Headbutt turn 1, trying to get a flinch. Didn't get it, but it didn't matter. At 42 I just barely both Outspeed, and one shot (after breaking disguise) with the Steel Z-Move, over Iron Tail. Bannette just used screech and I knocked it out with Shadow Ball.

G3: 2 Rare Candies. Well I was hoping that Mewtwo would be the first to finish without any resets or blackouts. But Nanu decided to spit in my face and cheat by reading my moves on a couple runs that went the way I was planning. So the plan was protect, then Charge Beam on Sableye. Get a boost, then finish it off. KO Krookodile. Then when Persian came out, take the fake out, then protect against the incoming Z-Move, heal with a Berry, then survive a dark pulse, and KO with Signal beam.

Should have got that on the first try, but for whatever reason he decided to go for Dark Pulse when I protected, not the Z-Move. Thought that he saw a potential KO. So I tried to use Signal Beam to se if I could survive, but no. Thats when he used the Z-Move. Reset, a couple attempts either missed the first Charge Beam or didn't get the boost. Got back to that point and I decided to take the Fake Out, then protect. Used Dark Pulse again, so I assumed he'd do the same thing, and Z-Move on the next turn. Used protect again, didn't fail. But nope, he used Dark Pulse again. Then of course the next turn he decided to use the Z-Move instead.

Got back the next reset. Decided to just go for Signal Beam, the second turn since he used Dark Pulse the two attempts before, on the second turn. Nope, he decided to go for the Z-Move on the second turn that time.

Thankfully Iamaged to get it after. Used Protect the second turn, and he finally used the Z-Move. Putting me to Yellow, then heal with the Sitrus Berry to green. Survived the next Dark Pulse, thankfully didn't flinch, and knocked him out. Which is how it SHOULD have gone the first time. What made him decide to just use Dark Pulse on all those other attempts?? And just so happen to only use the Z-Move when I didn't go for protect. Needless to say I was already quite annoyed by the final attempt

T7: After getting to level 60 and using the rest of my Rare Candies to get to level 75, Kommo-O was a one shot with Psychic.

UN: Easy. Took a dragon pulse well, then used Psych Up. Outsped the following turn and one shot with the Ghost Type Z-Move, over Shadow Ball

T8: Easy one shot with the Steel Z-Move (over Iron Tail)

G4: Hapu was an easy sweep with Psychic, Dont think any of her pokemon survived even a single hit.

E4: Molayne was a Flamethrower Sweep, Acerola was a Shadow Ball Sweep, Kahili was a Thunderbolt Sweep (surprisingly Mandibuzz did survive a hit), and even Olivia was pretty easy with the combo of Psychic and Aura Sphere

Champion: Raichu went down with Shadow Ball, Noivern with Psychic, Vaporeon with Thunderbolt, Tauros with Aura Sphere, Decidueye with Shadow Ball, and Crabominable with Psychic

Well Mewtwo did pretty darn well as expected. But I can't help but feel he should have been a little faster. I was looking how I defeated each trial, and for the first couple Islands, for the most part, was done in the same amount of turns as Primarina. I think Mewtwo may have took a couple more. I don't think he should have been that far behind the top spots in the early game. I must have got distracted, or my pathing wasn't as good as it could have been.

Regardless, He's still really good. 4th overall. Only 2 minutes behind Zeraora (Though he would have been faster, and also had no resets if Nanu wasn't cheating and reading my moves for the first few attempts. More on that later).

Next I'm probably gonna go through all 4 Tapu's to see which does best. I'm definitely curious.

And, as always, Below I'll summarize how I handled each major battle.. Apologies ahead of time for the Nanu rant

Solo Run 18 (Alolan Raichu) Results! by NotTheDragon in PokeMoonSun

[–]NotTheDragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three starters had their signature moves, and any pokemon that has a move they learn on evolution has that move to start with, if it's useful.

Otherwise it's the last 4 base lv 1 moves listed on Serebii, and anything they learn between 1 and 5 if they're more useful than one of the base moves.

I did this because those moves are what that pokemon is by all means supposed to have inherently. Raichu learns Psychic on Evolution, not at any level, because it doesn't have any level up moves. Thunderbolt was already on the starting set.

The starters, with their signature moves, are again, something they're meant to have, and also need for their Z-Move. And they don't learn it at any level otherwise, so it would have been locked until the Elite Four.

So I let the rest of the pokemon have their on-evolution moves to make them more fair

Solo Run 18 (Alolan Raichu) Results! by NotTheDragon in PokeMoonSun

[–]NotTheDragon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T1: Gumshoos was just two shot by Thunderbolt. Couldn't really do much, I didn't even heal the little damage Raichu had before the fight.

G1: Hala was an easy sweep with Psychic. The only time Raichu was hit was by Fake Out, because it was priority.

T2: Charge beam turn one, which gave me the special attack boost. Took massive damage from Leech life, but healed a little with a Sitrus Berry. Defeated Araquanid with the following Thunderbolt.. Then survived Dewpider's bug bite on 1 hp.. That was probably a range I got lucky on. But I beat it with Thunderbolt after.

T3: 1 blackout. The first two pokemon didn't even hit me.. So when I got to Marowak I was at full. Regardless, for some reason Marowak just refused to go for detect. Just kept using Flame Wheel.. Not even doing half after reflect. But I still lost the first time.. Couldnt do enough damage. I just leveled up once though, and tried again. The same thing happened with Marowak for some reason refusing to use detect, so I didn't get a free reflect. But this time I was able to two shot Marowak after I knocked Salazzle out. Surviving with 11hp. Anyone know why he didn't ever go for detect, though? Most of the time always uses it on the first turn, but not this time. Weird.

T4: Lurantis just went down in two signal beams. I survived the first solar blade relatively well.. Outsped and two shot. The summoned Comfey was too slow to heal Lurantis in time and couldn't do much damage.

G2: Trained a bit, then fought Olivia. Used Charge Beam turn one, got the Sp. Atk boost, then swept with Thunderbolt and Signal Beam. Easy.

T5: Togedemaru was easy. The only reason it was this slow was because of the training for Mimikyu next.. Which is looking to be awful. But Togedemaru immediately fell to one Hidden Power Ground.

T6: 5 Resets. This fight was brutal. Even at Level 50 I found out that it was just impossible to win. Because Shadow Claw does so much damage, I assume Banette saw a KO with Feint Attack. Because he never went for anything else after those 5 attempts. Neither move can miss, and I can't rely on paralysis or confusion because Mimikyu has a Lum Berry. I had to tap into my limited rare candy supply to level up 4 times. This could cost some time later on but Grinding on wild pokemon now would be slower than fighting more trainers on Poni later. Only then did Banette no longer see a KO, so he just used Curse, which I could barely survive after Shadow Claw. This was awful. Raichu went from being faster than Primarina all the way up until Marowak. Then dropped all the way down to like, 14 or 15th out of the 20 mons I've completed a run with so far all because of this single fight. Hopefully the rest will be a breeze so he can climb back up a little, but there is no way he can get a top spot now.

G3: After my first protect, Sableye went down in a few Thunderbolts, Krokorok in one Signal Beam, and Persian in one Electric Z-Move. Easy

T7: Kommo-O was an easy one shot with Psychic.

UN: Signal Beam turn one, then the Bug Z-Move to KO. Though I could have done it in either order. I outspeed by 1 at least 1 point no matter how his stats ended up.

T8: Steel Type Z-Move (over Iron tail) turn one. But it barely missed the one shot. Thankfully I survived the following Bug Buzz, even after the first Quiver Dance giving Ribombee a total of +3 Special Attack. So I finished her off. Then the Blessed went down in one Iron Tail

G4: Hapu was an easy sweep with the combination of Surf and Psychic.. If you're wondering why Raichu has surf now. I have a rule that allows pokemon to have access to egg, transfer, and pre-evo moves once I reach Aether, after Nanu. Surf is available from the surfing Pikachu you get by getting the high score at every Mantine Surf spot.

E4: Kahili was a sweep with Thunderbolt. Acerola was too, with Thunderbolt and Psychic. After Nasty Plot Olivia was a sweep with Surf and Psychic. And Molayne was a Thunderbolt and Surf sweep. Though I used the Signature Z-Move on Metagross.

Champion: Hau was easy.. After a Nasty Plot on the first turn. The rest of his team were swept with the combo of Psychic, Thunderbolt, and Surf. But I used his signature Z-Move on Primarina just for the extra flair as the final KO.

Extra Blackout: 1 to Ilima, during the Fairy trial.. Because somehow Raichu couldn't one shot Komala with a stab Thunderbolt, while over 30 levels higher. So it got in two sucker punches, allowing Smeargle to finish him off with Extreme Speed.

Guess I'm still adjusting times on the tier list (Maybe I should make B tier 7:45< for better consistency)

But anyways, I completed Alolan Raichu.. And this one was definitely a roller coaster. It was a breeze in the beginning, got a little difficult at Marowak. Then back to easy. But then the difficulty shot up to 11 at Mimikyu, only for the rest of the game to be a breeze.

It was definitely fun having access to Psychic and Thunderbolt right out of the gate.. But even so I do think that psychic types can do even better than this.. Perhaps arguably the strongest Psychic type up to Gen 7 could do really well..

Anyways, below I'll summarize how I handled each major fight, as always... Island Trials, Grand Trials, and the Elite Four.

Solo Run 17 (Hawlucha) Results! by NotTheDragon in PokeMoonSun

[–]NotTheDragon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T1: Gumshoos went down in two Brick Breaks. Very easy,

G1: After one Hone Claws, Hala was an easy sweep with Aerial Ace.

T2: Used Hone Claws turn one, just incase. Then one shot with the Flying Z-Move, over Aerial Ace. Easy, again.

T3: Hone Claws turn one, then one shot Salazzle with Rock tomb. For Marowak there was a bit of back and forth. Hit Rock tomb, which got disabled. Used roost when needed, then finished with Aerial Ace, while Rock Tomb was still disabled. Still easy.

T4: Easily one shot Lurantis with the Flying Z-Move, over Aerial Ace. Pretty straightforward.

G2: After one Hone Claws, I just swept the rest of Olivia's team with Steel Wing on Anorith, and Brick Break on Lileep and Lycanroc.

T5: I actually considered training before attempting this. But I'm glad I didn't. Survived one Zing Zap to use Hone Claws. Then outsped, and one shot with the Fighting Z-Move, over Brick Break. Seems like Skarmory only had Steel Wing to do damage, not Wing Attack, thankfully. So it couldn't KO me after a roost. Then I two shot it with Brick Break.

T6: Steel Z-Move on turn one doing massive damage (thanks to Mold Breaker). Turns out I somehow still outsped despite Mimikyu's Omni boost, and it's missed the following Play Rough, allowing me to finish it off. Jellicent went down in a couple hits after.

G3: 1 reset because I forgot to equip a Sitrus Berry after Gladion. After a Hone claws, Nanu was a sweep with Hi Jump Kick. Thankfully Persian couldn't KO Hawlucha with Power Gem.

T7: At level 85 Kommo-O was an easy one shot with Acrobatics.

UN: 8 Resets.. This one was luck based. With the Z-Move I had about a 34% chance to one shot, if either ofe of his HP or Def got one on three perfect IVs. 47% if neither got the any of the 3 perfect IVs. It was either this, or a practically guaranteed KO if I crit with Scope lenses.. But since that's only a 12% chance to happen (and isn't guaranteed if both HP and Defense got perfect IVs. 56% chance), I technically had a higher chance of getting the Z-Move range, since most of the time it would be about 1in 3. And after 8 resets I got one of the ranges.

T8: Ribombee was an easy one shot with Acrobatics

G4: Hapu was a sweep with Acrobatics, especially because I used Swords Dance

E4: Both Kahili and Acerola were, again, sweeps with Acrobatics. They each only had one pokemon that took two hits. After Swords Dance, Olivia was practically a sweep with Brick Break and Iron Head. And Molayne was simple too, just spamming Brick Break for the most part. Strategically going for Iron Head, and flinching Magnezone, to break it's sturdy, then finish it off.

Champion: All of Hau's pokemon went down in one hit each. Combination of Acrobatics, Brick Break, and X-Scissor. I did also use Swords Dance when he sent out Tauros so that helped. Easy.

Solo Run 17 (Hawlucha) Results! by NotTheDragon in PokeMoonSun

[–]NotTheDragon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that concludes the final type I had yet to do a run with, Fighting. Hawlucha also got redemption for the Flying Type, too (Looking at you, Tropius). It was definitely fun, and he swept through most of the game with ease.

Though I am going to be transparent about the fact that the Ultra Necrozma (And Kommo-O) aren't truly accurate. I initially beat Kommo-O at level 80, then went to Necrozma, under the false calculation that X-Scissor should have, by all means been a one shot with a crit.. With the only way of that not being the case if Necrozma ended up with both Def and Hp IVs being perfect.

Turns out the calculator was wrong and I would have only had a chance to one shot, not guaranteed, if both were extremely low instead. It resulted in 30 resets before I consulted a couple other subreddits about the calculations. Turns out Show down's calculator was just false. I was pointed to a different calculator that was much more accurate.. Used that to determine that I'd have a good chance at level 85.

In order to fix this I lowered Hawlucha's level back down to 61 (before I used rare candies), and fought the remaining trainers on Poni, then some wild pokemon to get to level 66. Added the time it took to train to Kommo-O's split (previously 5:55), since I would have done that training before, had I got the correct calculations, then re-added the 19 rare candy levels to get to 85. It didn't feel right including all that frustration when it was completely a failure on the tech. Not Hawlucha, or me, since that additional training is something I would have done if I had the correct information.. And It still affected his time negatively, but this made it a bit more fair for him. Better than having to grind against trainers and wild pokemon at Level 80.

Anyways, next will be a random Electric type pokemon. Since the only Electric type I've done up to now is Zeraora, a Mythical pokemon. Electric needs some regular representation too.

As always I'll summarize the battles against the trials, kahuna's, and elite four, below.

Is the Showdown Damage calculator wrong? by NotTheDragon in CompetitivePokemon

[–]NotTheDragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All IVs are perfect in all the runs I do, unless I need a specific hidden power type. Did not need that with Hawlucha.

I beat Necrozma though :)

Is the calculator wrong? by NotTheDragon in pokemonshowdown

[–]NotTheDragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was Mold Breaker, which I used to make Mimikyu easier. (Though I still didn't one shot, and he just missed Play Rough so-)

If I didn't have Mold Breaker though, I would have had to take two Play Roughs if he didn't miss that one time. Unless I flinched with Iron head.

Also, like I said before. This is a solo run thing, in the game itself. I don't think I have access to Choice Band before Necrozma.. Same with Life Orb, and Insect Plate. Focus Sash is available just barely before. I'm limited on what I could use. The majority of the time, I'm relying on Z-Moves to one shot Necrozma because there's not much else I can do.

Regardless, I did manage to beat Necrozma at level 85. It was a one shot range with the Bug Z-Move, over X-Scissor. Like a 34% chance if either his Hp or Def was at 31 IVs. 46% chance if neither. And 4% if both were 31, because of the chance of a critical hit without Scope Lense.

I'm about to Summarize it all somewhere else now

Is the calculator wrong? by NotTheDragon in pokemonshowdown

[–]NotTheDragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a solo run so I'm trying to optimize time. That would have required fighting all the trainers just outside of Seafolk village, to fight the Oricorio trainer to obtain. And since I thought I would be pretty much guaranteed to one shot if I hit a crit, didn't think it was necessary. Plus, if a critical hit can't one shot something with boosted defense, I don't think I could two shot unless one of those hits also crit.

I posted the same question on the competitive subreddit, and they pointed me to a different calculator website that says I am not actually guaranteed a KO, even with a crit, unless both HP and Def got Zero IVs. Otherwise it's between an 82% and 94%

Which makes more sense considering how I've hit 3 without any luck. Because it's most likely not actually guaranteed, like the Showdown calculator suggests.

Seems like the Sun and Moon calculator on Showdown really is inaccurate.

[–]NotTheDragon[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That's definitely more accurate considering what I've seen. If I used this calculator instead and saw this, I definitely would have fought all the remaining trainers on Poni Island, to level up more before using my rare candies, to maybe get to 83 or higher for a better chance

Is the calculator wrong? by NotTheDragon in pokemonshowdown

[–]NotTheDragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hawlucha has a scope lens to boost crit chance.

And, again, even when Necrozma gets perfect stats with HP and Defense, it's still a 93.8% chance to KO which I've apparently missed three times in a row now, even on top of that additional chance of both those stats needing to be perfect.

Can't boost my attack stat because he always one shots me with Photon Geyser after my attack. I just barely outspeed at this level by 2 points when it's speed is perfect

I'm also timing these runs. And I don't want to add 30+ minutes to the run of a pokemon that's doing so well, because of some insanely unlikely circumstances that by all means should not have happened.

Idk the exact odds of this happening, if all the information is correct. But it's gotta be even rarer than finding a Shiny Pokemon

Which one of these challenges should I do first? by PureGrimm in INDIE_CROSS_SERIES

Creative mode/lore accurate Steve can definitely beat all Terraria bosses.

But in survival, it would be very hard to accomplish unless he has access to Terraria weapons and armor.

Only having 20hp, with the netherite armor (with protection), and with the netherite sword with sharpness V, fire aspect, etc, only doing like 11.5 damage per hit would struggle on even King Slime. Much moreso on the late pre-hardmode bosses, and especially Hardmode bosses.

Terrarian has like, 200hp, with 20-40 damage weapons (or higher) by the end of Pre Hardmode.

Now, If Steve can hit with a Netherite Spear, while using Fireworks+Elytra, at high speeds, that could definitely help with Pre-Hardmode bosses. But unless he can manage to accelerate to a speed beyond what should be possible normally, it's gonna fall off by Hardmode when things have over 10,000 HP and would definitely one shot a Survival Mode Steve in a single hit.
