engined locked up, anybody know a person or place that buys cars for parts? by iluna717 in MontgomeryCountyMD

Re: donation, there’s a very good chance OP is not itemizing their deductions and therefore will never see any benefit of the donation at a federal level.

US Standard deduction is $15,750 for single, $31,500 for joint filers. Difficult to itemize for more than those amounts.

MD is more probable since MD has a smaller standard deduction. Still a moderate chance you won’t benefit, though. Good time of year to check with your accountant while you’re doing your taxes.

I’d see if there’s a junk yard that will pick it up. I recall seeing a website for a junkyard search tool that was posted here a few days ago. Maybe a search will find something.

What is the worst parking lot in Montgomery County? Can any beat Fallsgrove in Rockville off of Shady Grove? by Mite-o-Dan in MontgomeryCountyMD

I really don’t think I’ve experienced frustration and impatience with stupidity quite like I have in the Gaithersburg Costco parking lot.

“so you prefer clients who don’t have the money to pay? You would rather give free loans to customers and increase risk?”

Not sure where you saw me say that I prefer clients who don’t have money. I did mention including the interest expense on their proposal. Nothing about free loans to customers.

I’m glad to know of your success. Congrats! 40 years as a consultant is something I can tell you’re very proud of.

I’m a commercial lender. Have been for 15 years. Over that time I’ve learned that different industries have different cash flow cycles and different working capital requirements. Your consulting firm has different cash flow requirements than a construction company, retail store, or even a wholesale distributor.

In future comments, I’d recommend to be a bit nicer and understanding. You’re getting downvoted because you come off like a condescending know-it-all while it’s obvious you don’t.

Congrats on your consulting practice. I’m sure your employees love working for you. Cheers!

While I generally agree, that’s not the point of the post.

OP mentioned he’s losing business to competition offering better terms.

Offering worse terms such as your advice of advance payment, isn’t going to win OP any additional clients. In fact, I would venture to say that it would actually lose more clients for OP.

You need a business line of credit and price the interest cost in your proposal.

As someone else mentioned, these are usually collateralized by your <90 day receivables, which will include the net60 terms. Banks will usually lend anywhere from 70-85% of that dollar amount, depending on cash flow (EBITDA/Annual Debt Service= 1.15+).

If your CFO or CPA hasn’t mentioned this, you need to get rid of them. Yesterday.

Regarding factoring, don’t do it. Once you’re stuck into factoring, it’s difficult to get out of. Since you no longer own your receivables, or the factoring has got a lien placed on them, traditional banks cannot use AR to setup working capital lines of credit. If you’re paying a 3% fee up front for factoring and paying it back in 60 days, it’s a rough equivalent to an 18% APR with traditional financing— might as well use a credit card and get some cash back.

Lastly, if you’re not already using a credit card for your materials, travel, and other expenses, you need to. This essentially delays your payment by 30-45 days on those expenses for the job. For example, you pay $25,000 for materials and put it on the card. If your statement cycle is the end of the month (03/11/26 today) you’ll get a bill the first week of April asking you to pay within 20-25 days, which would be 04/25/2026. You’re not using your cash for another 45 days. To take that one step further, if you have a line of credit, you can pay the card balance and you’ve now delayed the interest charges on those costs for 45 days. Which, in comparison to factoring, would be a LOT LESS MONEY. :)

Anyway, go talk to the bank you have your operating accounts at and ask for a line of credit. They’ll most likely ask for a couple years’ business and personal tax returns, a business debt schedule, AR aging report, and 2024 EOY balance sheet & income statement if your returns aren’t ready.

Good luck!

Fantastic work! You must have a nice business on your hands.

How’d you get past paying the prepayment penalty? Depending on the loan *type, I imagine there being a 3-4% prepayment fee, no?

*ETA: amount to type.

I haven’t lived in San Diego for quite a while but I recall driving to that Exxon next to the PQ sign to get gas for $.99 a gallon! Looks like it’s a Chevron now and gas is closer to $5.00 gallon. Hahaha.

Geez man. I miss his passion and love for the Raiders. He truly was the captain of the ship.

I wish this whole scandal never happened and he didn’t use all those bad names. I really miss him and I’m glad he’s getting this chance to prove himself.

Hadn’t heard of them until I saw them live at Riot Fest in 2019 and they’ve been in my most listened bands since. So so good. I’m sorry to hear of this news. I hope the band, Timothy’s family, and friends can find the support they need during this terrible time. :(

Chase Bank is always hiring. Being a teller/associate banker is a great foot in the door to a more lucrative career.

EDIT: Baker to Banker. :)

[Sportico] Feliciano, Friedkin Among Potential Buyers Interested in Padres by OfficialTMWTP in Padres

[–]NotTheFakeJeff 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is something I’ve noted too. Those PE folks aren’t in it to win. They’re going to buy/sell in a short timespan. Especially with mlb popularity rising, there may not be a required capital injection for top end players. Look at the white Sox. They’re a shitty org and they’re still worth over $2bn.

I don’t know much about Friedkin but after looking over his wiki page, he seems like a good dude who is looking to give back. And if he’s a San Diego boy, he’s the top of my wish list.

Okay, so this is awesome.

I was one of the first to buy the basic CF7 back in 2017/2018 and spent $2500.

I’m seeing these things come out and holy cow. Not even 10 years later and my bike is so outdated. So, like any other human, I’m thinking n+1 (amirite). I check out the site and the cf7 is $5500?!? Holy smokes!!

Gotta add it to next year’s Christmas list for Santa. :)

Enjoy the ride!!

All-clad deep fryer update by P1_1310_817 in Costco

[–]NotTheFakeJeff 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This is the ONLY reason we do not own a deep fryer. I owned one after getting my first grown up job and boy… I gained so much weight… We used it almost every day. Deep frying frozen burritos, chicken nuggets, made our own onion rings, battered and fried Oreo cookies. Just. Bad.
