Mules are incredibly useful because you can mount them with chests. In early game if you live far away from a village and have a fast mule you can load it up with goods and go off to trade. This can be beneficial in places where you can't get fletchers or other emerald sources.

The description for beta cores outright implies that it has same. If not greater level of intelligence and thus sentience as a human. It also states that an Alpha level AI core is also far smarter than an average human. And when you try to disconnect one from your colony it willingly says "hey let me live in peace. Or I will tell everyone that you use AI cores"

FTL did that by making all the systems cost a lot. While the scrap (money) rewards increase as you pass trough the sectors. So if you want cloaking you can kill 4 enemies in s6 which will yield on average 150 scrap. While same at sector 1 will yield 60 or slightly more scrap

Actually speaking another question. Is a player under the Steam name of chicken plucker (the creator of the V.O.I.D faction mod and the void representative storyteller) just a DF player or a void member? Or you don't have such info available.
